Paperback version of "From Dead to Worse released next Monday!

Good new for Sookie Stackhouse lovers. The paperback version of "From Dead to Worse" by Charlaine Harris, the No. 8 book in the Southern Vampire Series and the literary origins of the HBO series "True Blood," will be released in paperback at the end of March.

Hot on its tail will be the hardback release of "Dead and Gone," the ninth book of the series.
"From Dead to Worse" finds Sookie back in Bon Temps after the terrorized attack on a vampire convention. The small town has its own problems, however, with a political split in the werewolf pack of Shreveport, the Louisiana vampires regrouping after Katrina devastated the queen's home in New Orleans and an old and beautiful fairy with streaks of the frightening visiting Sookie. Jason, Sookie's brother, is up to his usual irresponsible antics, Sookie's boss Sam shifts into something besides a dog this time and another witch joins Sookie's roommate to add to the mix.
If this all sounds convoluted, you haven't read a Sookie Stackhouse book.
Harris throws at this poor telepathic girl every paranormal being in mythology and fiction, placing us in her shoes and being equally astonished at what she sees, yet provides us with good laughs and endless entertaining suspense.

Every book opens up a new world as well. By the time you get to the end, all of Sookie's love interests have developed in new ways, tension starts anew and suddenly her family has grown by two. Don't miss it.
And according to the jacket of "Dead and Gone," it looks like the weres may be coming out of the - woods? - and a war is brewing with "a race of unhuman beings." The book will be out in stores in May, just before HBO starts up the next season of "True Blood."

Love at first bite

Dallas just loves getting presents !!

Thanks to the lovely Nocturnalinnc who didn't have to send this thank-you gift.

What a fun Jim Shore vamp, he now looms over my desk!

When Season 2 Arrives, Which Side Will You Be On?

American Vampire League or the Fellowship of the Sun ?

When I saw the topic line of the email "When Season 2 Arrives, Which Side Will You Be On? " I thought they meant Team Bill or Team Eric ?

Who in their right mind would be caught dead in a FotS t-shirt ? ( pun intended !) Even if you thought it was funny, the first vampire you saw sure wouldn't think so ;)

Really ? I still think the geniuses at the HBO Store would sell more Eric t-shirts - don't ya think, huh ?

* Dallas sighs *

Where in the world is Loving True Blood ?

Do you read this blog or listen to the show/ podcasts and live somewhere else than in the United States ?

If so, I'd like to hear from you ...

Thanks, truebloodindallas@gmail.com

True Blood's Arlene is a Character Actress Who Deserves True Fame

from New York Post

Carrie Preston should be more famous. When we caught Duplicity over the weekend and saw Ms. Preston pop-up as a lonely corporate travel agent who, while drunk on Appletini’s, gets seduced by Clive Owen, we immediately knew her face—it just took us a little while to figure out why. Ms. Preston is one of those actresses. Like her Duplicity co-star Denis O’Hare (Milk, Michael Clayton, Garden State and a host of other movies), she’s almost instantly recognizable in that “don’t I know you from somewhere?” way. She’s made the Law & Order rounds; she’s appeared on both Desperate Housewives and Private Practice, meaning a stint on Grey’s Anatomy cannot be far behind; she’s been in indies like Transamerica and blockbusters like My Best Friend’s Wedding; and she’s a regular cast member on the under-watched True Blood. Ms. Preston even worked on one episode of Lost, guest starring as Ben Linus’ deceased mother. This wouldn’t have been weird but for the fact that she’s married Michael Emerson, who plays Ben as an adult. Um, awkward!

True Blood's Ryan Kwanten is : A long way from Summer Bay

from the Sydney Herald

It's almost a standard line in any Australian actor's resume: graduate acting school, wet feet in the local industry, then head to the US.

Sadly, it's nearly as common for the line that follows to read: come home disillusioned.

Luckily, that's not something Ryan Kwanten will be doing any time soon.

The former Sydneysider, who rose to fame as lifeguard Vinnie Patterson on Seven's teen drama Home And Away, left for Los Angeles in 2004 and he's been quietly succeeding ever since.

This week alone, Kwanten can be seen on two of the US's biggest dramas, Law & Order: SVU and True Blood, playing (respectively) a soldier accused of raping and killing a fellow soldier, and the brother of a psychic barmaid who is in love with a vampire.

"It's rare that an actor can have one role [at a time] let alone two, so I'll take it when it's given to me," Kwanten says, in a brief break from filming True Blood.

"To be honest, I came here [to Los Angeles] with a one-week ticket and it's now years later ... it's been good.

"I'd like to think I'm a resilient kind of guy - I work hard. It's a tough business but, like anything in life, if you put in the hard yards, you get the rewards."

And one of those current rewards is undertaking the role of Jason Stackhouse in the dark drama True Blood, a series by Six Feet Under and American Beauty creator Alan Ball.

In a world where artificial blood has allowed vampires to "come out of the coffin" and admit their existence, Kwanten's character is having a ball, relishing the fact that all of the old rules seem to have been forgotten.

"The first and best note Alan gave me was when he said 'more than anything it's fun to be Jason'," Kwanten says.

"I've taken that [advice] and just run with it. Part of the allure of the show is this eclectic mix of characters. That really makes everything so unpredictable and I'm really glad to be able to be a part of that."

True Blood, Tuesday, 8.30pm, Showcase.

Yet another contest , you can VOTE for Anna Here

We're proud Americans here at The Hollywood Gossip, but let's face it, Canada is the best. We're not talking about our northward neighbor's pristine wilderness, universal health care or lack of gun violence, either. Props, though.

There's no wrong answer in this poll, but we're curious what yours is: Who's the hottest Canadian actress on TV?

Let's meet some of the contenders:

Elisha Cuthbert
Shenae Grimes
Tricia Helfer
Evangeline Lilly
Anna Paquin
Cobie Smulders
Jillian Harris
