Reviewette: Bite Anthology --- One Word Answers by Charlaine Harris

Tink from the blog Myblog2.0 writes about my favorite subject: Sookie Stackhouse short stories!

Publisher: Jove Publishing / Penguin Group Publishing Pages: 35 - 65

From the Cover: Meet a down home southern girl who's found out, much to her chagrin, that vampires are her type.

Meet Sookie Stackhouse, she's just a barmaid who can read minds. She's not psychic or anything, really, this is just her disability. Oh, and one more thing, vampires are like welcome vacation, a quiteness to her overwhelmed mind.....

As Sookie and Bubba (Elvis in a previous life) are raking leaves at dusk, a limo pulls up. One thing's for sure, there aren't any limos in Bon Temps. Out of town visitors have arrived, and Bubba makes himself scarce, he's shy around new people and Sookie hopes he has gone to fetch Bill Compton, one-time vampire lover and still good friend. She can smell trouble brewing, well see it actually, the limo has vampires and something else, a shifter maybe.
.
When Mr. Cataliades and Waldo alight from the limo, something is up. Mr. Cataliades is a lawyer come to talk about cousin Hadley's estate. Sookie didn't even know she had died. According to Waldo, The Fellowship of the Sun followers staked her at a cemetery, leaving Sookie with her estate. How odd, Waldo - a vampire, couldn't tell there were humans at the cemetery, especially ones with stakes, human heart races, surely he should have felt them, better yet smelled them and their blood.

True Blood and Paleyfest from the Reporter

Fans of HBO's "True Blood" showed their undying love for the vampire drama at Monday's PaleyFest panel, and the Paley Center for Media rewarded genre fans by opening the evening with a short clip from '60s fanger "Dark Shadows."

Bypassing the full-episode treatment for the night, attendees were treated to a 15-minute Season 1 highlight reel, followed by a short teaser for Season 2, which bows June 14.

The clip, which featured Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Bill (Stephen Moyer) bickering over the newbie vampire he sired at the end of Season 1, offered a glimpse at a new creature from author Charlaine Harris' "Southern Vampire Mysteries" book series on which the drama is based.

Created by Alan Ball ("Six Feet Under"), the writer/director/executive producer said he first picked up Harris' "Dead Until Dark" (Book 1 in the "SVM" series) while waiting for a dental appointment and "went through them like crack. I became a crack addict."

True Blood : Eric cries in Season two ??

Will Sookie dump Bill for Eric?

Despite the fact that True Blood stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer are a rock-solid twosome in real life, the show's Bill-Sookie-Eric triangle was the question of the hour as the cast and producers of HBO's vampire drama hit the Paley Center for Media's 25th Annual TV Festival Monday night.

Happily, Blood boss Alan Ball and his stars, including Paquin and Alexander Skarsgård, dished to us exclusively on the red carpet about the Viking vampire getting a hot spotlight, who's getting a serious beatdown and who's playing with the new supernatural creatures.

Moyer even told us his real feelings about the other man leering at his lady...Get our exclusive interview goodies and a sneaky peek of season two of HBO's True Blood.

Great True Blood Paleyfest recap

Thanks to KorbiTV

"True Blood" is the sort of show the Paley Festival is really about. People flew in from other states, camped out in lawn chairs on the pavement by the Arclight theater and went fully insane when they finally made it inside and the cast was trotted onstage for their viewing pleasure. There was an entire row of women wearing "Bill's Babe" t-shirts. It was fun.

Show runner Alan Ball was introduced last, but was first to speak, telling the audience how he stumbled upon Charlaine Harris' "True Blood" book series completely by accident. He was 20 minutes early for a dentist appointment and decided to kill some time at the book store. He spied "Dead After Dark" and the tagline -- "Maybe having a vampire for a boyfriend wasn't such a bright idea" -- caught his attention. He bought it on impulse and shortly thereafter became obsessed, ordering book after book from Amazon. "It was like crack," he said. "I became a crack addict."Alexanderskarsgard

He didn't go to HBO with the idea right away because he wasn't sure if it was going to be a TV show or a movie at first. Instead, he went to Charlaine, got the rights and later brought HBO into the picture.

Yes, when you're Alan Ball, you have the luxury of bringing HBO in.

And then HBO and Alan started bringing the actors in.

True Blood Cast Q & A

IGN TV chats with True Blood's leading men. by Matt Fowler
Waiting in the press line at The Paley Festival's True Blood night, one could still see the line of fans outside the interview tent. They were a mix of local hardcore fans and people from all over the world who had flown in to see the stars of their favorite bawdy vampire soap - and most of them had been waiting there since the morning.

I got a chance to have some few choice words with some of the featured players on the show. Nelsan Ellis, who played the fan favorite character of Lafayette, in Season 1, was in attendance. There are a ton of people that hope that one of the ways that the writers of the show will deviate from the books is by keeping his character alive – even though the last scene in Season 1 played out just like it did in the first book, with the discovery of his dead body. Still, he was there so I decided to ask him what his, hands down, favorite scene was as Lafayette. "AIDS burger. I loved loved loved that scene," Said Ellis. "We did five takes and for all five I just loved doing it. You know, it's always fun to beat someone's ass."

Anna Paquin is simply stunning

Celeb salon on Anna's french twist hairstyle-- it's really impossible to say in words how beautiful Anna Paquin is in person. I heard gorgeous, beautiful, pretty and stunning freely used as descriptors.

Anna Paquin wearing a elegant but chic french twist hairstyle at the 26th Annual William S Paley Television Festival for the Premiere ‘True Blood’ held at the Archlight Cinemas, Hollywood.

Hairstyle: elegant but chic french twist, also referred to as the french roll.

Color: Blonde, Ash Blonde, Light Ash Blonde, Dark Ash Blonde, Golden Blonde.

When to wear this celebrity hairstyle:
Save this hairstyle for more low key but classy events opting out for the wedding and prom scene unless you want to tweak it to give it a little bit more flair and romantic feel. Pair with dresses and outfits that are classic but chic in style, nothing too stiff or too casual as this is a great hairstyle but very simple in looks. You don’t want to look like your grandmother at church, but not like a bag lady either!

Tips on achieving this celebrity hairstyle:
Check out our How To Hairstyle section to find some great tips, and instructions on how to make a french twist or french roll hairstyle. Spice up this look by adding bangs or front strands and curling or softly adding wave, curl hair with hot rollers and loosely apply the twist for more body.

True Blood Paleyfest : Anna Paquin Bleeds True Blood

True Blood co-stars and real-life couple Anna Paquin (in Herve Leroux) and Stephen Moyer (in Moschino Uomo) pose together at the TB season premiere held during PaleyFest09 at the ArcLight cinemas on Monday (April 13) in Hollywood.

Blood returns June 14 and picks up with the second book in Charlaine Harris‘ Sookie Stackhouse series, Living Dead in Dallas.

Sookie (Paquin) is “drafted into using her telepathic abilities to find a vampire in Dallas who’s gone missing,” creator Alan Ball told the press. “Some people are gonna find it racy - they’re not really the audience for the show. Most people seem to like it.”

Leading lady Anna Paquin and beau celebrate return of hit vampire show

2009-04-14 It was one of the hit US TV series to premiere last year, and soon Golden Globe-winning vampire drama True Blood will be back on the small screen as the second series gets underway in June.

And in celebration the stars of the show, on-and-off-screen couple Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, helped fete its return at a special screening in Beverly Hills on Monday.

Winnipeg-born Oscar-winner Anna – who became the second youngest actress to win the award for her debut performance in The Piano aged 11 – and her English beau head up the cast of the series, which is based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries book series by Charlaine Harris.

Set in a fictional town in northern Louisiana, True Blood stars Anna as Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress working at a bar who falls in love with a vampire, Bill Compton. The series, which earned its leading lady a Best Actress Globe gong earlier this year, follows the co-existence of humans and vampires.

You can start here : Los Angeles/ Paleyfest stuff

Or always just click on the Paleyfest link in the topics area for anything new.

Paleyfest coverage from Dallas and @SookieBonTemps: Part 1

Ok , what I'm going to do is use @SookieBonTemps tweets as a narrative for my Paley event photos, videos etc.
I will also add my own comments but Sook did the tweeting and I did video and photographs (because I ended up on the second row) It was so great getting to know @SookieBonTemps in person as we have been online friends since with both started doing our True Blood/ Sookie fan stuff.

We both choose to stay incognito and we are the most unlikely of all teams but I think we did a good job of covering the event together.

So here is Part One :

We line up: 4:30 pm ( doors at 6:00)

Inside!

We are here! http://twitpic.com/3adw9

Gotta good seat ! So excited. ( getting there early paid off)

Dallas does L.A. with OD and NC!

OK, Dallas is home and ready to start posting ....

I have just tons of video and photos ...

The entire trip was so great - but we had a hellacious weekend of touristy stuff, plays, dinners, museums, lunches, bars, tours, True Blood Dallas meetups and it was just topped off by the True Blood Paleyfest panel. We had a very full agenda !

I spent most of yesterday traveling, we got up 5:30 am LA time and I got home 4:00 pm Dallas time. I now have some clean clothes, I've slept and brewed a pot of Cafe Du Monde coffee ( which we brought back from our New Orleans trip of 3 weeks ago - whew, we sure stay busy!) and I'm busily working on videos and photos.

Very special thanks to my traveling buddies ObjectDesire and NoctunalinNC ! What a blast we had!

Dallas is known for having some "magic" (that is a "just a little different from yours ") when it comes to picking out hotels, but I completely out did myself this time...there is simply NO OTHER place to ever stay in L.A.
