True Blood : Ep 2 God Blessed Texas :I've been sent to spread the message !

French people line dancing to "God Blessed Texas " by Little Texas

Did you hear this song in Episode 2 Sunday night ?

Yes, that's Southfork Ranch from TV series 'Dallas' you see in the music video - it's now a convention center.

Lyrics
Ive seen a lot of places
Ive been around the world
Ive been seen pretty faces
Been with some beautiful girls
After all Ive witnessed
One thing still amazes me
Just like a miracle, you have to see to believe

Chorus:
(cause) God blessed texas
With his own hand
Brought down angels from the promised land
Gave em a place where they could dance

If you wanna see heaven, brother, heres you chance
Ive been sent to spread the message
God blessed Texas.
First, he let the sun shine
Then he made the waters deep
Then he gave us moonlight
For all the world to see

Well everybody knows that the lord works in mysterious ways
He took a rest, then on the very next day
Chorus (twice)
Well Ive been sent to spread the message
God blessed texas
Well Ive been sent to spread the message
God blessed texas.

Jace Everett Does 'Bad Things' on TV

from the boot

You may not recognize Jace Everett's name, but you know his songs. Jace is the co-writer of Josh Turner's No. 1 hit 'Your Man.' He also wrote and performs 'Bad Things,' the sultry theme song for HBO's vampire drama 'True Blood.'

Fusing blues, rockabilly and country music, Jace's latest disc, 'Red Revelations,' hits stores today. In addition to releasing the album on CD and to digital music outlets, 'Red Revelations' will be available in two vinyl LP formats: one in standard black, and a limited-edition in "blood red" vinyl, which also includes an autographed LP jacket and signed photo.

Featured during the creepy opening credits of each episode of 'True Blood,' 'Bad Things' is generating more than over 10,000 streams a day at Jace's MySpace page, with total streams of the tune now approaching four million.

True Blood: Scratches Episode 3 promo

True Blood Season 2 Possible Title Song: Ep. 3 'Scratches' - changed from 'Scratch my Back'

We had another episode title change so we have another "Dallas guesses the title" challenge.
Originally episode 3 was entitled 'Scratch my Back' and I guessed the Slim Harpo song here

But now we find that the title has changed to "Scratches " so here is my guess for that title.

Now the one thing we know for sure about True Blood is that the episode names come from the a song used in in the soundtrack of that episode and that it is somehow significant to that episode.

So far for Season 2 we have :
Episode 2.01 - Nothing but the Blood
Episode 2.02 - Keep this Party Going
Episode 2.03 - Changed to Scratches from Scratch My Back
Episode 2.04 - Changed to Shake and Fingerpop from Let's Take a Trip Together
Episode 2.05 - Never let me go
Episode 2.06 - Friend is a Four Letter Word
Episode 2.07 - Release me
Episode 2.08 - Timebomb
Episode 2.09 - I will rise up

All we know about Season 2 spoilers, casting calls etc. can be found here
All Season 2 videos ( including my great slide shows) here

We know that Alan Ball and the amazing Gary Calamar put great effort into musically curating True Blood !

Episode 2.03 - Scratches, this is only my guess, I just research the various songs with the leaked title and come up with a song I think it might be.

'Scratches 'by John Frusciante from the album "Inside of Emptiness"

John Frusciante is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the guitarist of the alternative rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers, with whom he has recorded five studio albums. Frusciante also has an active solo career, having released ten albums under his own name, as well as two with Josh Klinghoffer and Joe Lally, as Ataxia. His solo recordings include elements ranging from experimental rock and ambient music to New Wave and electronica. Influenced by guitarists of various genres, Frusciante emphasizes melody and emotion in his guitar playing, and favors vintage guitars and analog recording techniques. ( wikipedia)

Inside of Emptiness is the fourth album of a six album series released by John Frusciante from June 2004 to February 2005. It features Josh Klinghoffer and Omar Rodriguez-Lopez as guest musicians. The album genre is based around rock, with synthesizers playing only a minor role throughout.

Lyrics

The scratches of a dark night
The rashes of foresight
And I wanted you
The weight of my freezing
I had come to you
The face I was given
I have no similarities to
The spaces in the law look
Like the faces in a word book
I get by
The matches of opportunities
The last thing I've never seen
And I scream it to you
The pain I was needing
Was sort of true
The one aim I was clearing
Was the walls that grew
The crazes I overlooked
The leans into the kook
And I did
And I was screaming bloody murder
When the charges came
And I stopped by the road side
'Cuz this is from wehere I came
My God but it's so far away
It would seem accidents have gone straight to you
And you've changed your point of view
And the places you're going to
I got Crowded
I get crowded
And I'm so glad that you're mine
It twists up the fabric of time
And I'm useless
And your faces are bodies
And your hands are feet
Let me roll around
In things I can't believe
But I tried

Thanks also to I(heart)vikingvamps who agrees with me ...

True Blood's Second Season Finds New Veins to Tap

From Vanity Fair

Perhaps it was the lackluster summer of television, or maybe it was the ubiquitous True Blood posters asking me if I was “ready for seconds?” Whatever the motive, last week I set out to discover which of the two I was: fang-banger or fang-hater.

I wasn’t the only one: the second season premiere of HBO’s True Blood drew in 5.1 million viewers, twice as many as the season-one finale last fall.

The first season followed a whodunit murder plotline, pulled directly from Charlaine Harris’s first “Southern Vampire Mysteries” book, Dead and Gone, and spiced with vampire lore, pertinent political undertones, and the lugubrious setting of backwoods Louisiana. The writers balanced the soap-operatic story lines and near-campy amounts of blood and sex with real social criticism, the fight for vampire rights reflecting the current debate about gay rights and the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s. (Bigoted evangelicalism finds a counterpart in the Fellowship of the Sun, a church that warns against the evils of vampires and their sympathizers.)

Beating the True Blood Addiction - 12 Step Guide

Thanks to Viqwig for sharing her True Blood Addiction - 12 Step Guide.

A 12 Step Guide to Beating True Bloodism – the addiction to HBO’s True Blood TV Series -- by "Vigwig"

Step 1. Admit you have a problem. You are powerless over all things True Blood– your obsession has become unmanageable.

Step 2. Watch other television shows, preferably bad ones so you won’t be tempted to watch anything. If the other shows have any True Blood cast members on as performers or guests or if they discuss vampires in any way, turn it off immediately.

Step 3. Physically remove Season 1’s DVDs from your player. This includes all the episodes plus any extras. This technique also applies to your cast member TIVO/online interview collection. Also remove True Blood appearances on Letterman, Conan, The View or any other TV program that has promoted the show from your TIVO or dvds. It doesn't count if you merely eject the dvd. You must remove them, put them away or delete the files!

Step 4. Accept that HBO is not going to hire you as an extra player in Bon Temps. Try neutralizing these unrealistic fantasies by being grounded in solid activities with actual paying employers.

Step 5. You must not check your True Blood related bookmarks every time you go online. Instead try deleting a few of them. You must do so without feeling extreme anxiety or hopelessness. This especially applies to Loving True Blood in Dallas and True Blood TV and other fan sites. Avoid trips to youtube or Daily-motion seeking the numerous fanvids. Be sure to unsubscribe from Crimson Bouquet’s youtube channel.

Step 6. We are half way there and you have made some big steps toward regaining control of your life again. Step six is a milestone! You must delete your True Blood background and icon images from your computer. You can do this by closing your eyes, relaxing and taking slow deep breaths and repeat to yourself "these are just pictures." You might need to take this in even smaller steps. For example, choose a smaller picture of Eric, Anna, Pam or Bill every day for your background until eventually the actual image is so small you can only see your plain background.

Step 7. Do not type the words True Blood, Sookie, Eric Northman, Vampire Bill, Stephen Moyer, Alan Ball, Anna Paquin, Lafayette, Pam or Alexander Skarsgard into your search engine. Do not look up cast members on Yahoo Personals. Doing so would indicate that you have had a break from reality. Face it, Bill and Anna are a rock solid item and Alexander is taken so forget it!

Step 8. Do not encourage your lover to consider you as a meal. Don’t start taking Vitamin B-12 and avoiding garlic. Do not ask him to wear fake fangs so you can play at being a victim. Avoid screaming, "Bite me" during acts of intimacy. Resist the urge to have sex in cemeteries. Do not call your partner "Bill" "Eric” or “Jason”. Do not ask him to call you "Sooooooookie." If your lover agrees to play along with you, you are both suffering from a shared delusional disorder. Stop the role-playing. Do not pretend to be a shape-shifting collie or recreate Fangtasia in your basement. Medication and booster sessions of reality lovemaking are recommended.

Step 9. This is a tough step. You must acknowledge a higher power other than True Blood and relinquish delusion of control. You have none. Ask your higher power to help you control your preoccupation the show. You may say this Prayer "Heal me from my True Blood Addiction, help me to live one day at a time fang-free.” With that prayer take a deep breath and give away your collection of True Blood dvds and soundtrack and delete all jpegs from your hard drive. Throw out your "It Hurts so Good" poster, official Bill’s Babe Tee Shirt and all other things.

Step 10. Have an entire conversation with another human being about something, anything, other than True Blood. Reconnect with your conversational abilities; you may need to breathe deeply several times as described in the manner of step 6. Try very hard to concentrate on what the other is saying and do not trick the other person into saying something about the show. Example: "Did you see the show "The Starter Wife?" Isn't she the one who made out with what's-his-name – you know that vampire Bill guy?"

Step 11. Since you are on your eleventh step of recovery now many obstacles have been removed from your path. You should be able to slowly and tentatively re-enter the real world! Reconnect with your loved ones, ask them to help you acknowledge step 12.

Step 12. Find closure with the statement: “It’s just TV” regardless of what HBO says.

True Blood : Five Humble Suggestions That Will Make You A More Ethical Fan

From NPR

by Linda Holmes

It was more than a little unsettling to read the reports last week about Twilight star Robert Pattinson being clipped by a taxi in New York in an incident that at least some reports attributed to a throng of fans that had tracked him to the filming location of his new movie, Remember Me. (The studio denied it was the fans, but frankly, they would.)

Even if it wasn't the fans who caused Pattinson to be running across the street, it certainly could have been. It's a hallmark of modern fandom to share information about filming locations, and that means people show up. In fact, Alan Ball, who's done several shows and currently works on HBO's True Blood, discussed the problem in the same clip we linked to last week in the context of spoilers.

This behavior is, to say the least, gross. And it's not that hard to be an ethical fan. A few humble suggestions follow.

Michelle Forbes Wants TRUE BLOOD

from iesb

On Season 2 of the hit HBO television series True Blood, the mysterious and somewhat sinister Maryann Forrester is stirring things up in a major way, while her true identity and her real reason for showing up in Bon Temps remain to be seen.

As the wealthy local with unknown intentions, actress Michelle Forbes is having a lot of fun working on the acclaimed show. Best known for her work on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Homicide: Life on the Street, 24, Battlestar Galactica, In Treatment and Prison Break, the former ballerina promises that Maryann’s motives will be revealed, as the season progresses.

In this exclusive interview, Michelle Forbes talked about working with the talented cast of True Blood, and the devotion and dedication of sci-fi genre fans.

IESB: When and how did you know that you wanted to be an actor?

Michelle: As the story goes, I started off as a ballet dancer. I knew, pretty early on, that I needed another form of expression, and it just seemed that acting, and this idea of playing pretend and telling stories, was really fascinating to me. It was a natural progression, out of the dance world and into the world of theater and cinema.

IESB: How did you originally become a part of True Blood? Was it just through a regular audition?

Michelle: I came in towards the end of the first season, and it was a meeting like any other, to be honest. The show hadn’t aired yet, so I wasn’t aware of it. I hadn’t read the books. It was just that new vampire show on HBO with Alan Ball. That’s what I knew. There’s no great story about that initial meeting, I have to say.

Alexander Skarsgard is out for TRUE BLOOD

from IESB

As Eric Northman, the 1,000-year-old Viking vampire who is also the owner of the local vampire bar, Fangtasia, on the acclaimed HBO televion series True Blood, Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgard has quickly become a fan favorite.

Even though he called himself a “glorified extra” in Season 1, the actor /director is much more involved in Season 2, partaking in the action going on in Dallas with Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and her vampire boyfriend, Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer).

In this exclusive interview, Alexander Skarsgard talked about how fans will be getting to see much more of him this season.

IESB: What can viewers expect from Season 2 of True Blood?

Alex: They can expect a lot. A lot is going on. In Season 1, we had to create the world, invite the audience into that world, establish all the characters and tell the audience a little bit about that. Now, in Season 2, we can hit the ground running because the audience is already on board and is already a part of this world. It’s going to get pretty crazy, from the get-go. A bunch of us go to Dallas to find an old, missing friend of Eric’s. At the same time, crazy stuff is going on in Bon Temps. Major mayhem is going on there. It’s going to be a wild season. From Eric’s point of view, it’s much more personal than Season 1. In Season 1, Eric was the entrepreneur, doing his thing, and walking around and being the bad-ass vampire. In Season 2, you’ll hopefully understand him a little bit better and see more than just the evil vampire that people sometimes think he is.

IESB: Do you think he enjoys the mayhem and craziness?

Alex: He enjoys it. He enjoys the attention and he enjoys being in the midst of it because he’s very confident and he knows how skillful and strong he is. He likes adventure, for sure, but he’s not thrilled about what he has to do in Dallas. It is very personal and it’s something that means very much to him. So, it’s not a vacation, where he’s just going out to play. It’s definitely a matter of life and death for him.

So Many Vampires So Little Time

From Salon Magazine

Buffy fans: read this The spirit of the Vampire Slayer lives on in kickass young heroines of urban fantasy fiction

June 23, 2009 | Seventeen years ago a high school cheerleader in Southern California learned that she was the one girl of her generation chosen to stop the spread of evil -- namely, by slaying vampires. The cinematic incarnation of Buffy Summers wasn't a notable success, but when she returned five years later, this time to the small screen, a cult classic was born.

Though it's been off the air for six years now, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" lives on, in the theses of hundreds of culture studies grad students, in a series of comic books by creator Joss Whedon, in persistent rumors that some or all of the TV show's cast members may unite for a film (with or without Whedon), in seemingly countless spinoff novels, and of course, in fan fiction. But Buffy persists in other, less obvious ways, as well.

Whedon's original idea, to take "the little blonde girl who goes into a dark alley and gets killed in every horror movie" and make her the hero of the story, mutated into a remarkably flexible and inventive way to portray the terrors of adolescence. The supernatural elements of the stories provided Buffy and her friends with more than just monsters to kill; they served as metaphors for everyday identity crises and social anxieties, most famously when Buffy and her boyfriend, the redeemed vampire Angel, consummate their love, whereupon a gypsy curse renders him suddenly cruel and hateful.
