Ball reveals more about 'True Blood' Alcide role in Season 3

I know, I know ," alter ego named Alcide "?? I wish folks would just read Club Dead.

Joe Manganiello's True Blood character will become embroiled in the Bill Compton mystery plot, creator Alan Ball has revealed.

At the end of season two, vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer) was kidnapped shortly after proposing to girlfriend Sookie (Anna Paquin). Manganiello's alter ego, a werewolf by the name of Alcide, will team up with Sookie to help find him.

Ball told Entertainment Weekly that their search leads them to a werewolf bar in Mississippi, saying: "They're doing a little amateur sleuthing and they're sort of surprised by what they find."

It has previously been reported that the characters of Sookie and Alcide will grow close during season three, with a potential romance blossoming.

"Two hot people in some intense situations and, for whatever reasons, their significant others are not there... they're human," Ball noted.

True Blood returns for its third season Sunday, June 13 on HBO.

Actually Alcide is not human. And I'm not sure reading Book 3 would help much since AB makes so many changes. In fact, I think you might enjoy the series more if you had not read the books. Too late for me. I've been through all of them several times each. It makes you expect certain things and when they don't happen, it can be disappointing. Just my opinion. So I would recommend reading book 3 AFTER season 3 airs.
