Two new Cop/Vampire TV shows in the works from MTV and NBC

First up is MTV, they just gave the greenlight to Death Valley, a horror comedy about cops fighting monsters. Seriously. This show is said to be a faux-documentary that follows the Undead Task Force, which battles zombies, vampires and werewolves that have overrun the San Fernando Valley. So, it’s like COPS, but instead of cops dealing with drunken hookers, it’ll feature cops dealing with vampires and other supernatural baddies. Death Valley already has a few cast members lined up – Caity Lotz (Mad Men) and Tania Raymonde (Lost).
According to senior VP production Tony DiBari, “Death Valley is the perfect combination of horror and comedy, two genres we know our audience responds to. That blend, combined with a fast pace and gritty ‘follow doc’ visual style, will take viewers on a wild ride where they are never sure what’s around the next corner.”
Yeah, I admit it, I can’t wait to miss Death Valley.
Second up is NBC, who purchased Austin Winsberg’s spec script Zombies vs. Vampires. The potential series would follow two cops living in a world where zombies are part of society and commit devious zombie crimes. Where do the vampires fit in? Well, one of the cops is secretly a vampire.
