O’Hare splits villainy in two

Loving DO in " American Horror Story ' !!!

Denis O’Hare knows scary.
Not because he plays the unhinged Russell Edgington, the vampire king of Mississippi on HBO’s “True Blood,” or the creepy, scarred Larry Harvey on FX’s “American Horror Story” (Wednesdays at 10 p.m.).
It’s just that the 49-year-old actor has an affinity for things macabre.

“I was steeped in the monster genre from the time I was 10 years old,” O’Hare told the Herald. “I was contemplating Vincent Price, actually, and if I ever had a childhood hero, it was Vincent Price. I was thinking about those old Saturday afternoon horror films I watched as a kid, and they really stayed with me. I was a monster freak growing up.”
That education has come in handy lately. O’Hare shined as the bloodthirsty, unforgettable Edgington in the third season of “True Blood,” and now as the disfigured Larry Harvey in “American Horror Story,” a dark series that may be difficult to define.

Being Human UK's newest vampire

There’s a Mitchell-shaped hole at the centre of Being Human, and the man with the unenviable task of filling it in series four is Damien Molony. Fresh out of drama school, he admits the task of playing the series’ new vampire Hal is daunting. But as SFX chats to Molony for an interview in issue 215, one thing is patently clear – Molony is Irish. He assures us, though, that Being Human isn’t just replacing one Irish vampire with another.
“I’m actually playing an English vampire!” he reveals. “Very, very posh. Very upper class. A stiff upper-lipped Brit, which is a bit of a push for me accent, but it makes it a lot more fun. I promise you, no! No, no, no – Hal’s not Mitchell 2. There’s a lot of back story to play with and I assure you he’s very, very different.”

Top 50 Power Showrunners 2011 Alan Ball -True Blood (HBO)

After the fourth season of the vampire hit maintained nearly 5 million viewers, Ball inked a multiyear deal with HBO that will see him stay on full time for the series' fifth season. "There will be an end for me at some point," Ball said in July during the Television Critics Association press tour, "though I don't have any desire to leave because I'm having more fun than I ever had in my life." The Georgia-born Emmy winner (for Six Feet Under) and Oscar winner (American Beauty) also has a dark comedy pitch set up through his Your Face Goes Here Entertainment banner at Paramount with Elan Mastai. As for how long True Blood could realistically run, Ball, 54, says, "I think if we did 13 seasons, we'd have to address why the vampires are aging."
