True Blood's Sookie is getting a new fairy cousin in Season 5. Actor Giles Matthey, whose only credit is an appearance on The Good Wife last October, will assume the fairy wings previously worn by Neil Hopkins, who played the role in an episode last season.

Claude, in case you forget, is the twin brother of Sookie's elegant fairy cousin, Claudine, who we met toward the end of True Blood's third season. In the book series, Claude is an arrogant little queen whose only redeeming quality is his protective nature toward Claudine. Some fans criticized the choice of Neil for the role, considering him too old for the part.

While Claude will not be a series regular, I'm told the part will be considerably expanded into a multi-episode arc and could develop into something even larger. In the books, Claude and Sookie eventually grow to be close friends.

We’re talking, of course, about the True Blood cast, several of whom were in a fairly chatty (read: scoopy) mood. Herewith are six of the meatiest, juiciest teases we extracted from them.
1 | Janina Gavankar revealed that “a major thing happens to Luna early in the season, and it’s going to change her life forever.”
2 | The cast learned that Chris Meloni was Bon Temps-bound last month at a table read, news that elicited “gasps” throughout the room, recalled Gavankar. “We’re so excited to have him.”
3 | Alcide’s days of playing Mr. Nice Guy are over. “As you saw at the end of Season 4, he’s not taking anyone’s s— anymore,” said the man-beast’s portrayer, Joe Manganiello. “Now you’re going to see an Alcide who’s going to slam you up against the wall and do his thing. Year End Wrap Up: Keven's Top 10 TV Shows of 2011

This could be my Top TV list this year if you's add Sherlock PBS, Downton Abbey PBS and Being Human UK !!

What did you like best ?
Last year was groundbreaking for me because I came to the conclusion that TV was starting to truly kick the theater's ass in almost every way possible. 2011 has been even better. With HBO pulling all the stops with a strong season of True Blood, a better season of Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones - was it enough to conquer the airwaves?

It was a powerful year for TV and I'd have to say it was also HBO's strongest year since The Sopranos came to a close. With Game of Thrones shocking audiences worldwide with it's blatant disregard for human life and Boardwalk Empire's amazing sophomore season – it still wasn’t enough to conquer my top 10. That honor belongs to AMC's Breaking Bad, which delivered not only it's best season yet, but one of the best seasons of TV ever made.

2. Game of Thrones

Adapted from George R.R. Martin's series of dark fantasy novels, this show came to slaughter expectations and in the process blew this guy's mind by essentially killing it's main character in one of the most brutal and heart-breaking scenes ever filmed. The ensemble cast is mesmerizing, even if none of them last too long in this beautifully grim world.
Peter Dinklage's performance is one of a kind but don't forget that this show also saw Jason Momoa turn out the kind of show that Conan should have reflected on the big screen. Game of Thrones is easily the best 'new' show of 2011 by leaps and bounds.

3. Boardwalk Empire

HBO must have had a meeting with it's showrunners this year and came up with a masterplan to kill it's main characters left and right. As the finale came to a close, viewers were once again treated to another shocking exit, this time involving Boardwalk Empire's most colorful and intriguing character. Steve Buscemi's Nucky was once told that he can't be "half a gangster anymore" – well, he must have taken notes.
After getting looked over at the Primetime Emmys, it will be a shock if this show is passed over in 2012. The second season was 10 times stronger and loaded with so many amazing scenes it's hard to pick a favorite. PS: Always pay your butcher – for the love of god, if you owe him money, pay that man…

4. American Horror Story

Take True Blood, make it scary and then amp up the crazy factor a hundred times and you have what is no doubt the best 'horror' series of the year. It's been compared to Twin Peaks, but FX's American Horror Story is something else entirely – bats*** nuts. The show is bizarre, disturbing, gross, frightening and most importantly – it's gripping as hell.
It's hard to comprehend how the show will continue forth after a first season that killed as many characters as it could, but rest assured that 2011's most insane show will be back to mess with our heads even more. Jessica Lange has never been better and deserves any award recognition that is

7. Being Human

This series is the biggest surprise of the year for me. What at first seems like a SyFy True Blood knockoff, is actually very, very far from just that. Think Friends with murder, gore and brilliant writing. Based on the UK show of the same name, we're taken inside the lives of three roommates, a vampire, werewolf and ghost. It sounds absolutely terrible, but it works. The acting is all on point, the writing, the plot, it flows beautifully. Sam Witwer and Sam Huntington's on-screen chemistry is believable and the two work so well off of each other.
The series utilizes music very effectively as well, turning out one of the year's best soundtracks for a television show. Give this one a shot and you will not be sorry, I promise you. It's a brave shot in the arm and welcome addition to US audiences who are tiring of True Blood's zaniness.

8. True Blood

Despite what I can only describe as one of the worst season openers ever in which fans were treated to a demon fairy laser fight, True Blood ended on a high note. The first half of the fourth season may have struggled at times, trying to 're-invent' itself with the whole 'time moved forward' plot, but after the show caught up with itself, it became damn good once again.
Alexander Skarsgard finally took over the reigns from Stephen Moyer and became the 'fan favorite', which was a long time coming in my opinion. The witches vs. vampires angle was tremendously heated and the rivalry was built up as much as it possibly could have been before getting settled in one of the most satisfying climactic episode arcs the show has had yet. Syfy's remake of the British show Being Human surprised us with its strong storytelling and its mostly solid cast. Now a second season is right around the corner — and can the show repeat its first-year achievements?

We watched the episodes "Turn This Mother Out" and "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" back-to-back, and here is our first impressions of the new season.

The Good

Beautiful Monsters: After we watched Bishop's head fly magnificently into the good night one thing was certain, Being Human was starting to look good, real good. Gone away is the odd shaky lens that haunted the first few episodes.
This show has finally found a look all its own, and removed itself from "new TV show shot in Canada for Syfy" category. While still very simple and budget conscious, we noticed little touches of light and color, and the sets felt authentically Bostonian (which is where the series takes place). We're thrilled that whatever changed halfway through the first season (most likely $$$) hasn't been lost in the second.

Meeting Denis O’Hare should be scary as hell. After all, this is the man who plays two of TV’s reigning supervillains: The horny vamp leader on True Blood and a mysteriously deformed psychopath who just suffocated a potential homebuyer on American Horror Story. But today, in the back of homo-hot-spot Saint Felix in West Hollywood on his day off, O’Hare doesn’t project any of that eeriness.
So far during the debut season of the smash FX show, O’Hare, as the scarred weirdo Larry Harvey, has doused a house in gasoline, killed another man’s mistress and fought fervently for a home that’s become a tough sell — and not just because the economy sucks.
“I don’t think he’s evil,” O’Hare says. “He’s acting out of a particular desire for something. For me, all characters have a justification for their behavior; they always think that what they’re doing is necessary for a reason. I can't tell you how much I have loved American Horror this year!

7. American Horror Story (FX) The series was created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, who previously worked together on Glee. The central story has Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott moving into a house where the previous tenants were found dead. Bianculli says it "may be the scariest TV show" he's ever seen, and it leaves him thinking about the characters long after he's turned off the TV set.

I hadn't thought that True Blood opened the door for the wave of Fairy Tale TV shows ( i love Grimm!)

In the past couple of years there has been an increase of supernatural and mystical themes in television, and the viewers (including myself) are eating it up at an astronomical rate. Vampires, witches, werewolves, and fairytale characters alike are all popping up on our television screens, much to our excitement.
So why do we love these other worlds so much? Isn't it obvious, our lives are so busy and stressful that we need a true escape. All TV is an escape from reality, but when we open our minds and our homes to these mystical beings we are truly in a different place. For example, when you tune into The CW's hit, The Vampire Diaries, you are whisked away to a world where vampires and humans are falling in love. Who hasn't had a daydream of a supernatural love? Especially if said vampire looks like Damon (Ian Somerhalder). We watch Elena struggle with the battle between her love for Stefan and her budding love for Damon. Who does she choose? Either way she hurts someone she loves, and breaks viewers hearts.

Time Warner Cable customers who subscribe to HBO or Cinemax will soon get to use HBO GO and MAX GO, the premium cable networks’ instant-streaming services.

TWC announced the deal Friday night, saying subscribers will be able to access movies, documentaries, original series and more on any computer, iPad or other mobile devices.
On HBO GO, viewers will have access to 1,400 titles such as Game of Thrones, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos Sex and the City and Deadwood. They’ll also get to watch HBO original films, miniseries, sports, documentaries, specials and blockbuster theatricals. MAX GO offers 400 titles including movies, indies, cult favorites, the MAX After Dark series and primetime series.
Most new content uploads to both services as the content premieres on the networks. Viewers also will get the “Watchlist” that keeps track of bookmarked content for later viewing; bonus content including interviews, recaps and behind-the-scenes extras; and customizable views showing titles in slideshow, grid or list format.
Once the services launch, Time Warner Cable customers can access them at HBOGO.com or MAXGO.com using their TWC usernames and passwords.

This isn’t an original idea, but it’s one I’m going to emphasize. From now until Christmas, we’re going to be in hurry, hurry, hurry and panic, panic, panic, mode. We may spend and eat too much. We may be determined our house will be perfect for the holidays, and we may be convinced that we have to have a huge pile of gifts under the Christmas tree.

None of that is necessary. You know that, right?

In a year, who will remember that your house was perfectly clean and orderly for the holiday? Who will remember that every single item on the wish list wasn’t under the tree? No one. Unless you have some seriously odd relatives.

Here’s my suggestion: make a ritual of necessity. When you wrap gifts, put on Christmas music. Make sure the house is as empty as you can get it. Assemble everything you’ll need. While you wrap, think about the people you’re giving to, and why you’re giving them a gift. I guarantee you’ll be happier.

When you clean your home, set aside some time to do it and give it that time and no more. Don’t make yourself crazy, and delegate. Enlist help if you need it. Even if you can simply assign one family member to clean all the mirrors and TV screens in the house, that’s something.

If at all possible, start cooking early and freezing things.

Nothing will prevent the holidays from being anything but busy, but you can cut down on the frantic rush.

Listen to me handing out this good advice . . . and wondering if I can stick to it myself!

Relax. Smell the Christmas trees.

If I resurrect the radio show this summer ( pun intented !) I'd like to have on Vampire guy!

I just reviewed a book in the “Thrall” series by Adams and Clamp. You can read it here. It really raised the question of what is meant by “vampire”. The bad guys in the Thrall series are vampire parasites. They attach themselves to the nervous systems of human hosts and take over. The concept reminds me of the aliens in Robert Heinlein’s “The Puppet Masters” which I enjoyed many years ago. They also remind me of “The Borg” in Star Trek: Next Generation.
So what’s the problem? The concept is based on other things that I’ve liked. And yet, are we still talking about “vampires”? The authors like to refer to the bad guys as vampire parasites and they get transferred to the hosts by biting. But I get the feeling that the authors are trying to trick me. Vampire fiction is hot, parasite fiction isn’t.

God, I sure hope everyone is watching American Horror Story . It's by far the best thing on TV since a wierd little vampire show about a telepathic barmaid started a few years back ;-) !

Meeting Denis O'Hare should be scary as hell. But today, in the back of homo-hotspot Saint Felix in West Hollywood on his day off, O'Hare doesn't project the eeriness he does as a horny "True Blood" vamp and mysteriously deformed man who just suffocated a potential homebuyer on "American Horror Story."
So far during the debut season of the smash FX show, O'Hare, who plays Larry Harvey, has dosed a house in gasoline, killed the-man-of-the-house's mistress and fought fervently for a home that's become a tough sell - and not just because the economy is sucking.

True Blood may have many years left to it, but author Charlaine Harris has announced that the bestselling Sookie Stackhouse novels (a.k.a. the Southern Vampire Mysteries) on which the hit HBO series is based will conclude with the thirteenth volume (volume 12 is due out next year). I recently sat down with Harris for an extensive interview, which I'll be presenting in three parts. The next two parts will focus on Harris's thoughts about True Blood and on her upcoming graphic novel Cemetery Girl. Is it tough to finish this series, to let it go?

It's tough to walk away from the money. [Laughs.] Yeah, it is going to be tough.

But you don't have to.

No. I don't have to. But I just felt like I'm finishing the story. I don't have anything left. That's what I've got. I don't want to keep writing when I'm running on empty. I think we all know writers who have continued to write the same characters when they run out of gas apparently. I just don't want to be like that.

I have almost 100 Sookie/ True Blood recipes on this blog and I thought we'd have a pretend Thanksgiving dinner with Sookie and the Bon Temps gang. Haha

This year Jason bought a turkey deep fryer at Sheridan’s Sport Shop and lots of peanut oil and he's going to deep fry the 10 lb turkey that he bought at Walmart. It's going to be raining tomorrow so everyone will have to pile inside.

Sookie is making: Corn Bread Dressing ( not stuffing!)
Mashed potatoes
Green Bean Casserole
Sweet Potatoes with marshmallow
Ambrosia

Corn Bread Dressing
Ingredients
Corn Bread

1 (12-ounce) can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
2 tablespoons rubbed sage
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon margarine
Cooking spray
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped onion
4 (10 1/2-ounce) cans chicken broth
2 large egg whites, lightly beaten

Preparation
Crumble Corn Bread; set aside. Bake biscuits according to package directions; let cool. Tear 8 of the biscuits into small pieces; reserve remaining 2 for another use. Combine crumbled corn bread, torn biscuits, sage, poultry seasoning, and pepper in a large bowl; set aside.
Preheat oven to 350°.
Melt margarine over medium-high heat in a medium nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray. Sauté celery and onion 8 minutes or until tender. Let cool slightly. Add vegetable mixture to dressing mixture, and gently stir in broth and egg whites. Spoon mixture into a 13 x 9-inch baking dish coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 55 minutes.

Green Bean Casserole

Ingredients:
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can
1 CAMPBELL'S® Cream of Mushroom Soup
3/4 cup milk
1/8 tsp.black pepper
2 (9 oz. each) pkgs.frozen cut green beans, thawed*
1 1/3 cups FRENCH'S® Original or Cheddar French Fried Onions

Preparation
MIX soup, milk and pepper in a 1 1/2 -qt. baking dish. Stir in beans and 2/3 cup French Fried Onions.
BAKE at 350°F for 30 min. or until hot.
STIR. Top with remaining 2/3 cup onions. Bake 5 min. until onions are golden.

Sookie 's Sweet Potato casserole

Ingredients

4 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups cornflakes cereal, crushed
1/4 cup chopped pecans
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows

Preparation

Bake sweet potatoes at 400° for about 1 hour or until tender. Let cool to touch; peel and mash sweet potatoes.
Beat mashed sweet potatoes, sugar, and next 5 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Spoon potato mixture into a greased 11- x 7-inch baking dish.
Combine cornflakes cereal and next 3 ingredients in a small bowl. Sprinkle diagonally over casserole in rows 2 inches apart.
Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Remove from oven; let stand 10 minutes. Sprinkle alternate rows with marshmallows; bake 10 additional minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Charlaine Harris to lecture at UCR Palm Desert

Charlaine Harris writer and creator of the world in which “True Blood” is based will bring her insights into the undead to Palm Desert next week for a lecture at UCR Palm Desert.
“The books have become cultural touchstones,” said Tod Goldberg, Administrative Director of UCR Palm Desert Graduate Center’s MFA in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts.
Goldberg will moderate the lecture, which is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 as part of the Arts and Letters Lecture Series.
“The TV show has propelled her and her books into the cultural spotlight,” Goldberg said, adding that Harris’ 11 novels have spawned a new generation of vampires.
The popular fiction hits home for so many readers and HBO fans because of the quality of the author’s fantasy world, he said.
“She’s dealing with issues of sexuality and belonging that are part of what the fabric of humanity is,” Goldberg said.
He said Harris tackles the issue of “ who do you love, do you love the wrong person, or in this case the wrong vampire?”
The cost of the lecture is $20 and tickets can be purchased online.

Per TVLine Lucy Griffiths (best known for her role as Marian in the BBC drama "Robin Hood") will portray Nora, another progeny of Eric's "father", Godric, who is working as a double agent within the Vampire Authority. Stephen Moyer confident of 'True Blood' future

Stephen Moyer has claimed that he thinks True Blood could continue for a couple more seasons.

True Blood was renewed for a fifth season by HBO in August, but the show's creator Alan Ball has admitted that he has considered leaving the show after that.

Ball's comments later sparked speculation about the future of the supernatural drama.

However, Moyer, who plays Bill, has now told E! Online that he does not think there is any reason why True Blood could not continue for several more years.

Just in time for Halloween, novelist Anne Rice wrote a Facebook post critiquing Twilight–comparing Stephenie Meyer‘s vampire characters to Rice’s famous Lestat de Lioncourt and Louis de Pointe du Lac.
Rice wrote: “Lestat and Louie feel sorry for vampires that sparkle in the sun. They would never hurt immortals who choose to spend eternity going to high school over and over again in a small town —- anymore than they would hurt the physically disabled or the mentally challenged. My vampires possess gravitas. They can afford to be merciful.”

Kristin Bauer has endeared herself to many a horror fan with her impressively deadpan portrayal of Vampire Pam on HBO’s ‘True Blood.’ Let’s see if she can hit that evil woman sweet spot as well for the fantasy crowd with her upcoming turn as Maleficent on ABC’s new show “Once Upon A Time.”

Bauer will be making her debut as the witch (and “Sleeping Beauty’s tormenter”) on the upcoming October 30 episode of the show. From the look of these recently released publicity photos, it looks like Mal’s trademark horn headpiece is in tact, but the rest of the look differs from the Disney version quite a bit.

Loving DO in " American Horror Story ' !!!

Denis O’Hare knows scary.
Not because he plays the unhinged Russell Edgington, the vampire king of Mississippi on HBO’s “True Blood,” or the creepy, scarred Larry Harvey on FX’s “American Horror Story” (Wednesdays at 10 p.m.).
It’s just that the 49-year-old actor has an affinity for things macabre.

“I was steeped in the monster genre from the time I was 10 years old,” O’Hare told the Herald. “I was contemplating Vincent Price, actually, and if I ever had a childhood hero, it was Vincent Price. I was thinking about those old Saturday afternoon horror films I watched as a kid, and they really stayed with me. I was a monster freak growing up.”
That education has come in handy lately. O’Hare shined as the bloodthirsty, unforgettable Edgington in the third season of “True Blood,” and now as the disfigured Larry Harvey in “American Horror Story,” a dark series that may be difficult to define.

But as SFX chats to Molony for an interview in issue 215, one thing is patently clear – Molony is Irish. He assures us, though, that Being Human isn’t just replacing one Irish vampire with another.
“I’m actually playing an English vampire!” he reveals. “Very, very posh. Very upper class. A stiff upper-lipped Brit, which is a bit of a push for me accent, but it makes it a lot more fun. I promise you, no! No, no, no – Hal’s not Mitchell 2. There’s a lot of back story to play with and I assure you he’s very, very different.”

Last year, Houston lost a bookseller and publisher who fueled the mystery community with his enthusiasm.
And since David Thompson’s sudden death, a veritable who’s who of mystery authors — all of whom he called friends — have been writing dedications and acknowledgments to him in their new books. For Charlaine Harris, Lee Child, Ace Atkins, Alafair Burke, S.J. Rozan, Robert Crais, C.J. Box, Deborah Crombie, Bill Crider and others, Thompson was the guy who knew them when, the guy who talked up their books to a discerning readership.
Thompson, a longtime employee of Murder By The Book and publisher of Busted Flush Press, died suddenly in his home on Sept. 13, 2010. An undiagnosed condition — sarcoidosis, an inflammatory disease that can affect almost any organ — caused his heart to fail.

But Harris is already busy with a followup new project, an original graphic novel trilogy. The first book, Cemetery Girl, will be published by Ace Books in 2013. The trilogy is a collaboration between Harris, dark fantasy writer Christopher Golden, and illustrator Don Kramer. Cemetery Girl will combine fantasy and paranormal mystery to tell the story of a teenaged girl with amnesia who has grown up living alone in amid the gravestones.

As long as I’m covering odds and ends, let me just insert a fact here. I love the TV show “True Blood.” I don’t write it. So all the complaints about the way the plot lines are different from my books, about the physical differences between Anna Paquin and Sookie Stackhouse, about the direction and future of the show . . . they’re lost on me, and a waste of time to express to me, because I don’t have anything to do with the writing of the show or its casting. While I appreciate reader involvement in both entertainment experiences, I can only affect issues regarding the books.
I’m not trying to be ungracious or rude, but realistic. If you have a beef with the way the show is plotted or cast, please send these observations to HBO or to Alan Ball. As I opened my office mail yesterday, I found myself wondering if Alan gets letters about how I write the books.

Well, I now have to shower and wear some makeup to go to Starbucks. I have to borrow a little from Pam — be a tad more vain, as I could never say, “no” to a fan wanting a photo because I'm not wearing mascara. And I get asked my thoughts on things and I have lots to say about rights and free will, especially regarding animals, as they are truly innocent and voiceless. Frighteningly, more and more I relate to Pam (laughs). I start going, ‘Wow, she’s actually making sense to me.’ It’s fascinating. I feel like, ‘Oh my God, this makes total sense if I were a vampire,’ so if I were taken out of having to worry about aging, money (they always seem to have money), and also they are out of the constraints of society so they can be any sexuality, which is very fun. Plus, you don’t have to worry about death, so without all those issues, who would we be? So much of my life, well, pretty much my entire life, those are the things I think about. That’s 95 percent of where my attention goes with those topics. So then who would I be? It’s an interesting question

Johnny Depp resurrects classic horror

 Johnny Depp was recently dubbed the biggest movie star in Hollywood with two blockbusters which grossed a billion each back to back: Pirates 4 and Alice in Wonderland.
This is why you can probably feel some relief that he’s headlining the big screen version of Dark Shadows, the ‘60’s vampire soap opera that aired on ABC. Depp will also be bringing bringing back Kolchak, the short lived, but much beloved horror series of the ‘70’s.

Dark Shadows is now being made for Warner Brothers with Tim Burton directing, and Depp starting as Barnabas Collins, a two hundred year old vampire. The first shots that hit the ‘Net of Depp in his vampire make-up initially weren’t promising, but the current photo posted on Empire looks much more like the Barnabas Collins of yore, combined with Burton’s trademark gothic sensibilities.
The film will also feature Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jackie Earle Haley, gothic horror legend Christopher Lee, and Alice Cooper. The film’s screenplay was written by Seth Grahame-Smith, author of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

Stephen King Writing ‘Shining’ Sequel About Psychics & Vampires

Cool new covers, huh ? You know you need to read 'Salem's Lot 'again ??

At first glance you might think that we’re now running mock stories. Sorry, no such luck.

Instead, long-standing speculation has now given way to fact: Stephen King is writing a sequel novel to The Shining - more to the point, he has some of said sequel already written, he recently read some it, and we have video of his reading.

The sequel will be called Dr. Sleep, and it will follow The Shining‘s young protagonist, Danny, 30 years after the incident at the Overlook Hotel. Danny now uses his psychic powers to literally ease the minds of terminally-ill patients in hospice care. Things get twisted when vampires show up - most likely viewing the the place as the perfect buffet, if we had to guess - and Psychic vs. Vampire battle ensues?

By now, most people are familiar with the aggravation that comes with learning about another unnecessary movie sequel - it’s kind of new to feel that aggravation about a novel, but that sentiment is already out there and swelling. It will be hard to convince a lot of people that The Shining needs a continuation -let alone that words ’The Shining’ and ‘vampires’ even belong in the same sentence. Here at Screen Rant, we’re already nervous about a possible (semi-)sequel to Stanley Kubrick’s classic 1980 film adaptation of The Shining, as we’re sure a lot of other movie fans are as well.

True Blood star Ryan Kwanten credits his sex symbol status to his character Jason Stackhouse being so confident.
The 34-year-old Australian actor admitted to Men's Health Magazine that his character is a bit of a 'knucklehead', but thinks women like his cockiness.
Ryan said: "With all the guys on the show there's a rawness to them. With Jason it's very unabashed. He's very comfortable in his skin. I think from a female perspective, that kind of audacity or confidence can be sexy.
"Although I don't think that a guy like that could be sexy all the time. It is a little too full on... but then again, I'm not a girl.
"Jason has been shot at, raped and danced around in his underwear wearing a Laura Bush mask. The fact that he is still standing there is kind of... intriguing."

Charlaine Harris: BOOK & BLOG September 26 2011

I have more to blog about today than I can shake a stick at (an old southern expression).
I could reflect on Bouchercon and all the old friends I got to see there. I could tell you how great it felt to be a guest of honor at the world mystery convention. I could brag about the Bowling for Vampires bowling team, who labored long at the bowling alley. I could describe the fun we had at the Charlatans luncheon, and thank all the people who made that happen.
Or I could describe how a misunderstood post of mine on Facebook caused a big kerfuffle, and reflect on the big shortcoming of internet posting: it doesn’t convey intonation and facial expression, which go very far in interpreting what you’re saying to the audience, whoever that audience may be.
I could rehash my event with Laurell K. Hamilton, a one-of-a-kind evening that raised a lot of money for the St. Louis Library.
I could detail our four dogs’ horror when Daughter brought home her new puppy Jackson, an English bulldog, and their delight when Daughter took Jackson back to her apartment.
And I could also tell you what a relief it is to have completed the editorial changes on DEADLOCKED and to have sent it back again to my editor.
I’ll just condense all this. I’m glad to be home, though I had a great time in St. Louis, a weekend I’ll never forget. I’ll also never post on Facebook again without very careful consideration. Lesson learned. I’m still pleased that Laurell and I were able to offer a unique evening, and do a good deed in the process. Our dogs are still terrified they’ll find the little bulldog around every corner and have to share with him. And I’m sure there’ll be further odds and ends to correct on DEADLOCKED.
But for now, all’s well; and I hope you all are content, too.

Despite the abysmal trends in the homevideo marketplace (sales have fallen about $1 billion a year to $10 billion this year), the marketing team at HBO has breathed new life into its retail sales with the living dead. Yup, you guessed it, the vampires of “True Blood.”

Sofia Chang, senior vice president-retail marketing at HBO, rattled off some impressive media metrics to prove that, but it was the one she cited about actual “True Blood” sales – the drink, not the show – that really impressed me.

‘Deadliest Warrior’: Vampires and zombies out for blood

What happens when a show founded on the science of hypothetical battles between knights, ninjas, gangsters and centurions swaps swords and guns for fangs and claws? Fans of Spike TV’s “Deadliest Warrior” series are likely to find out Wednesday when the show, in the second half of the 2-1/2-hour season finale, will pit vampires versus zombies in a bloody battle to the death. Airing at 9 p.m. PDT, the two classic horror movie monsters will spar to determine who has the bigger, badder bite and more skull-crushing strength.
On a visit to the set of the season finale earlier this year, hosts Richard “Mack” Machowicz, Geoff Desmoulin and medical expert Dr. Armand Dorian were busy trying out an arsenal of mechanically propelled limbs and sharp-toothed animals (and reptiles) designed to mimic the damage supposedly inflicted by both sides.

“Every nerd has this argument at least once after every episode of ‘The Walking Dead,’” said vampire expert Steve Niles, referring to the hit AMC series about a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by zombies. “It’s kind of interesting to turn into some sort of fact so we can at least address it and see who would win.”

Peter: How come everything he writes is so dreary?

Fortunately, the disappointingly un-funny joke took a solid turn when the camera cut to Bruce — my personal favorite — watching the show at home in his True Blood t-shirt.
“This is a weird episode,” Bruce said.

True Blood and True Life from Psychology Today

I just spent the week with Sookie Stackhouse in Bon Temps, Louisiana. I had never seen an episode of True Blood until six days ago when I watched episode 1 season 1 on HBOGO on my ipad. Yesterday, I left Sookie screaming in the Finale of Season 4.
Why was I sucked into Bon Temps, Louisiana and its inhabitants for a week, like a V addiction? And why was this immersion so satisfying?
Perhaps its because Bon Temps and the characters of True Blood are a metaphor for the diversity of life itself and our means of meandering through it. Here's what I see in True Blood.
1. A role model in Sookie Stackhouse - a person who is transparent - her outward actions align with inward intentions. When Sookie sees injustice, she acts regardless of the risk. She knows herself - what she deems right and wrong - and acts in accord with it. Deception is not part of her repertoire unless it's used to save someone she loves.

'True Blood's' Joe Manganiello to appear on'Two and a Half Men'

True Blood fans, if you’re having some Joe Manganiello withdrawal since the season concluded earlier this month, you’ll be happy to hear that the hunky star will be back on your screens soon.

A CBS spokesperson confirms to The Hollywood Reporter that Manganiello will be guest starring on Two and a Half Men, as first reported by EW.
He’ll be playing the hunky boyfriend to Walden’s (Ashton Kutcher) ex-wife, Bridget (Judy Greer). Viewers will meet Bridget on Monday’s episode. Manganiello will make his appearance on the Oct. 24 airing.

Behold the real visage of Johnny Depp’s vampire from Dark Shadows!
Last week, long-range paparazzi shots of the actor wearing ghostly white makeup, large sunglasses and a pulled down fedora made fans of the original 1966-71 supernatural soap opera bristle nervously, with complaints he looked simply too strange.
Nevermind that he’s playing a 200-year-old vampire, which is strange enough.
As you can see from this cast shot, Depp’s bloodsucking pater familias Barnabas Collins actually borrows heavily from the aged-little boy look of original Dark Shadows star Jonathan Frid — not that anyone would be happy to see this guy show up as your prom date either.
Still, this official First Look may reassure those die-hard fans of the original series, memorably offbeat ABC daytime drama about a vampire whose extended family are bedeviled by ghosts, witches, and other gothic woes.
