I like the old ones because it kind of gives you a peak into the book, which other character is going to be involved more...

I am partial to Lisa's covers. I love the thought she put into the paintings and how they all go with the storyline. these are very bland and do not have anything special. i'm glad i have the set with lisa's illustrations because these covers are :(. just because you CAN change the covers doesn't mean you SHOULD. maybe they'll notice their flaw and go back to the lisa covers.

Are these for US issue? I like the originals better.

Terrible decision to change the covers.... Or at least to change them for these ones!! They're horrible!

I preferred the art work on the older covers! They were works of art! They gave us a little glimpse into the action in the book. It was fun to try and guess what the books were about based on the cover art. These covers just don't cut it for me.

Clearly the publishers walked right up to the line of how close they could get to Anna Paquin's face without actually having to pay her. "the living dead in dallas" cover especially - comes pretty close to where you do a double-take on who's face it is. I liked the original covers better myself in that they let you know that the novels themselves are a mix of folksy-quaint and supernatural/weird. But anything that turns more readers on to the books is fine by me!

I only like Dead until Dark and Dead as a Doornail. They look like I would imagine Sookie to be (more so than Anna Paquin – though she does a great job). The other pictures…she looks a bit strange.

But I’m not liking them. The whimsical aspect of the stories is completely lost.

Why are they coping the Mary Janice Davidson thing and re-covering the books with generic pictures??!!

I thought the point was to make them unique, but now they’re all being ‘unique’ with exactly the same covers…

Are the better ones still going to be available??!!

Whoops - I meant 'copying', not 'coping'!!

Now with the show tie-in books, and these new covers, I'm worrying about the future of our gorgeous covers by Lisa.

I love how she can capture the mood of an entire book in just one simple picture.

I like the old ones better gives them more uniqueness and why change/fix something that is not broken

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, way boring and unimaginative.

I like the new covers. They give you a better feel for the reason the Sookie is so attractive to men. They also allow the publisher to try to attract a new group of readers, who might be put off by the more "cartooney" aspect of the covers on the mass-market paperbacks. I think that publishers market trade paperbacks to a more upscale audience.

I liked the old ones better as well. I liked how each painting was a little glimpse into the book itself.

I didn't love the old book covers, but at least they were somewhat whimsical and hinted at what Sookie's adventures would be in a given novel. These new covers don't seem to capture who Sookie is - the innocent, Southern good Christian girl who goes from suffering-in-silence-telepathic to constantly-involved-in-some-crazy-vampire/supernatural-sh*t Sookie! These new covers make me think I'm looking at a soft-corn porn movie jacket or something. I don't see any trace of the Sookie I know at all. Oh well, at least I have the other versions of the covers here at home. ;)

I absolutely hate it when book covers get changed on any book. I like the ORIGINAL covers better. In fact I was a bit upset when I bought the boxed Sookie series and the first book had the cover the corresponded with the show "True Blood" I love "True Blood" but I wish they would have left the original cover alone.

The old ones are so much better, as stated earlier you get a glimpse into what the book is going to be about. These books are almost like what the Buffy Books are like. BLAH! Please go back to the old covers

I like the original covers much more than these. The old ones gave you a little sneak peek of what the book was going to be about.

I like the new ones. to tell you the truth, when I first saw the sookie books, I thought they were childish and I almost didn't buy them, cuz I thought it was a kid's story. the new covers look more grown-up to me.

I like the old book covers with Lisa's work. Someone mentioned the new covers looking like soft-porn and I agree. Why fix something that is not broken? However, possibly from a marketing standpoint, perhaps it's an attempt to garner more attention to read the books. Some folks saw True Blood before reading the books and this is a way to make the covers look more "adult" to a reading audience who have yet to read them. I'm glad that I have the original books with the Lisa's artwork as many have commented. And if it does bring more reader's to the table, better still.

I think that the British editions of the Harry Potter books had two cover versions, one targeting the adult reader. Apparently this was done so adults wouldn't feel like they were spotted reading a kid's book while commuting or waiting at the doctor's.

dumb.

I understand maybe wanting to make the books look more "mature" (apparently they were often mistaken for children's books because of the cover art) but these new ones are awful. They look like Young Adult thrillers. I would NEVER pick up one of these new designs.

Lisa's art was quirky and cool and piqued my curiosity when I first saw it.

And the "Sookie" on the covers looks like Pam to me, not Anna/Sookie.

Nooo! I'm actually googleing for posters or indexes for these book cover pictures. I absolutely LOVE them. These new covers are dull. Very unappealing if you ask me. Big mistake to change.

I agree that I liked the older cover art better, for all the reasons listed. I also agree with the one poster that the publisher was trying to put a female image close to Anna's on the cover -- but also - with the bigger size - they can charge twice as much, since the older ones are 7.99 and the newer ones are twice that...14-something...... lame.
