Vampires are coming to Britain

True Blood is the US vampire series that's making its terrestrial premiere on Channel 4 on Wednesday night. The drama is based in the back-water Louisiana town of Bon Temps, where vampires have come out of the coffin and are demanding equal rights.

The lead actor is Brit, Stephen Moyer who plays an 173-year-old vampire, Bill Compton. The series has been HBO's most successful drama since The Sopranos.

When asked why the series is so popular he did not mention Charlain Harris.

Shame, shame, Mr Moyer. Alan Ball is standing on Charlain's shoulders.

True Blood is an American television drama series created and produced by Alan Ball. It is based on the The Southern Vampire Mysteries series of novels by Charlaine Harris. If the BBC presenters have surely made enought research to know about Books and would have ask about it or what is based on; but they only ask about the show. He did answer correctly to why the show is popular: it's dark, weird, steamy, sexy and vampires are great interest to many at moment. Credit to True Blood The Southern Book Series will also be known to many others in UK, who haven't read them yet.

"The Sookie Stackhouse Mysteries" have been in print and sold in the UK and Europe for almost 10 years.

True Blood is definitely drawing in more readers but her books have been around and available in over 30 languages

The reason why my sister and I and many others ever started watching the show is because it was based upon Charlaine Harris books. I never watched HBO or 6 Feet Under or any other work that Alan Ball created. As Alan Ball said Charlain Harris did the heavy lifting.
