Behind the scenes with True Blood : Sam takes Sookie out for coffee

Sam takes Sookie out for coffee after the Descendants of the Glorious Dead meeting in Episode 5 . As Bill would say " coffee, sounds delightful "

I wonder why the Crawdad' s Family Style Restaurant where Sookie and Sam go is located in Piru, California ?

As you can see from the still here it's located at 3944 and has U Scream Ice Cream shop is right next door !

Well, that is actually Pancho's Place Mexican Food at 3944 Center St , Piru Ca and there really is a U Scream Ice Cream next door.

True Blood EpisodeThree : Mine recap from HBO site

"I'm posting the episode recaps from the HBO site. I think we should have them in our archive; they are really long so I will also post them in their entirety as a word document to our scribd site. I think they are worth carefully re-examining for clues!

Outside Bill's house, Sookie meets some of his less-than-welcoming vampire
friends: Diane, Malcom and Liam (the vamp from Maudette's sex tape). The three circle her, making suggestive comments and baring their fangs, then follow her into the house, where Bill seems unnerved by the situation that's developed. When Diane and her cohorts threaten to feed on Sookie, however, Bill steps in, declaring, "Sookie is mine."

The vampires step back, and the lapse in immediate danger gives Sookie a chance to notice the other humans in the room - a man and woman, both glamoured - who are serving as the group's playthings. As a young man named Jerry offers his neck for Bill to feed, Sookie hears his thoughts: " ... get infected you f**king vampire a**hole ..." She shrieks out a warning that Jerry has Hep D, a virus that only affects vampires, and stops Bill in time.
But Jerry - robbed of his chance at revenge for the murder of his boyfriend
- turns on Sookie. The attack ends almost before it begins when Bill breaks Jerry's wrist, leaving him unconscious on the floor. Diane wants to know how Sookie discovered the traitor, though Bill manages to deflect her questions and usher the group out the door ... with Jerry in tow.

At Merlotte's, Tara and Sam close down for the night, neither of them in a hurry to get home. After cracking a couple beers, their conversation turns to Sookie, who's been worrying them both. Tara tells Sam his affection for the waitress is obvious and prompts her new boss to make his move quickly, before things with Bill heat up any more. Sam explains how he already told Sookie he didn't mind if she read his thoughts, and Tara stops him: "She doesn't want to listen to anybody's thoughts ... Man, you don't stand a chance."

Episode Three ( S1) HBO Recap

And I don’t even LIKE vampires!

From Dewey at Dewey's Dartboard- i like reading reviews from male fans of the show, he is also a librarian. I did tell him when the season is supposed to start ...and I asked him to write about Club Dead

Let’s face it. I am not usually a fan of anything vampire.

I did read “Interview with a Vampire” by Anne Rice but after about the second book, I stopped.

I have not read or seen anything in the Twilight series.

I don’t dress in black, or paint my nails black, or wear black lipstick, and I really don’t care for bats.

But when I started to watch the TV series True Blood, it was all over.

I became addicted. Totally, and inexorably enthralled.

The story is about Sookie Stackhouse, who is a barmaid that works in a small town in Louisiana. She is a telepath and can read people’s thoughts. One day, a tall dark and swarthy vampire named Bill walks into the bar, and Sookie is taken with him. This leads to a series of aventures, as there is a murderer loose in town and everybody wants to blame the vampire. In the world of True Blood, vampires have basically “come out” and can now interact with the general human population. Some Japanese scientists have created synthetic blood called “True Blood” and the vamps don’t have to feed on humans, even if many still like to.

Sookie works for Sam, who we soon find out has a secret of his own. It is a terrific show. The acting is good, the plot carries you right along, and every episode has a cliff hanger at the end that makes you want to start watching the next one immediately. The show is up for several Golden Globes, and I can see why. It really is entertaining.

The show itself is based on a series of books by Arkansas author Charlaine Harris. I have read other series by Ms. Harris but have avoided the vampire novels because (as we have covered) I don’t like vampires.

But now, after watching True Blood (the entire season one is based on the first book of the series) I had to have more.

Thank god I work in a library.

I headed over to the mystery section and went to H for Harris (we really do try to make things easy to find in the library, even if most people can’t ever seem to find anything) and managed to locate the first five books in the series.

I decided to skip the first one (as the TV series covered that plotline) and started in on book two - Living Dead in Dallas. And I love it. I managed to read it in one day and am now currently sitting reading the third book in the series - Club Dead.

There is Sookie, the telepath, who narrates the novels, and vampire Bill, and his boss, Eric, the sherriff vampire. And there are a whole mess of supernatural creatures out there left to discover. Harris has a great writing style. The characters are fun and realistic. There is enough humor to keep the books light, and enough mystery to keep the books suspensful and interesting. And none of the books are particularly long so you can knock one off in a day or two. They are fun reads, even for those of us who don’t like vampires!

Be aware that the TV series has a bit of sex (well more than a bit) and some gore, so it might not be appropriate for younger viewers.

I just have to find out when season two is going to start.

Remember the author, Charlaine Harris! Look for her in a library or bookstore near you!

I finished DEAD AND GONE for the second time this week

Did you know that Charlaine re-wrote the entire ending to Dead and Gone ( Book 9 ) and made other character changes ?She wrote about it on her blog on August 12th 2008, I am also a big fan of Lisa D and her wonderful covers.

I finished DEAD AND GONE for the second time this week. The first ending simply sucked, and a late addition to the characters had to be inserted throughout the book, and another character had to be shored up and given more page time . . . oh, decisions, decisions. Maybe the reason I hate to make decisions in everyday life is because I have to make so many professionally. When my dear first readers (Toni Kelner and Dana Cameron) give me the green light, off DEAD AND GONE will go to my editor at Ace, Ginjer Buchanan, and then the book will begin wending its way through the production process. In the meantime, the first version of the book (hopefully) has given the cover artist, Lisa Desimini, enough material to start her magic.

Everywhere I go, I hear comments on the covers. Every now and then, I find a protester who says that the covers look like children’s book cover art and are therefore deceptive, considering the contents of the books. And every now and then, I hear from a reader who says a bookstore put them in the children’s section because of the naïve cover art. But on the whole readers seem to be enthusiastic about the style and quality of Lisa’s work, and I must say that I’m delighted with the covers, myself. The consistent elements do a lot to make the books stand out as a series. I always have a cover framed, and they look very attractive grouped together in my hall. (I’m running out of hall, though.)

This is my shout-out to Lisa, to let her know publicly that I think her covers have done a lot to sell my books.

Here is my 2nd favorite Sookie Stackhouse book called 'Dead by Day'

You say ...What Dallas, Dead by Day ?? There is a book I've never heard of ??

This is the 2nd of the special Science Fiction Book Club special editions , this one was published in May of 2005 and includes Dead to the World and Dead as a Doornail- the first book in this special SFBC series is called Dead in Dixie ( it includes the first 3 books) and I wrote about it here

Look at Eric on the cover of DbD and then look at Bill on the cover of DiD book with the "blood wings " that make him look like an archangel. Haha
They are so funny and seem so wrong BUT I LOVE them ....

You can still find used ones around -they are my favorites and they are sitting on my desk right now ...

True Blood fans , blogging and Dallas's thoughts...

We love luvseric who writes the blog 'Totally Random' and we love to highlight fellow bloggers. We look forward to you writing more about "the great one". If any of you write a blog post about the books, the TV series , Vampires or anything relative, please let us know. I have deep understanding for other fans because this blog was originally just supposed to be for me , it was just a place where I could collect little things while I watched the series and read through the book and well, now....we just passed our 30,000th visitor and that's in just the last 43 days .
NO I AM NOT kidding , we now have a weekly radio show, last week we went on a driving tour of the TB filming locations in Louisiana, next week I'll be traveling to hear Ms Harris speak and it's kind of taken over my life and brought with it some really fun things and wonderful new friends!

We also love hearing from our readers ! Thanks "Dallas"

Happy New Year! Hope everybody is having a wonderful new year!

Me, I just found out that this blog was quoted by Loving True Blood in Dallas (that was a whole 2 weeks ago!!!!), which I found extremely exciting... and somewhat freaky at the same time, for some reason. So, I immediately went ahead and spent the last hour or so sprucing up the place, since now I know there are people out there who might actually come by! I added a bunch of basic gadgets, links, and other Eric-related fun stuff. One of these days I'll upload my Eric pictures on Photobucket, to have a bigger, better Eric/Alex slideshow.

Anyway, I'm happy to know that this blog is one someone's radar after all, and (belatedly!) thank the people from Loving True Blood in Dallas for taking the time to stop by! (By the way... Thanks so much for the Eric T-shirt info, too... I just got me one!!!!) :-)
