True Blood Gives Us A Stake In Things

True Blood Gives Us A Stake In Things

The marketing geniuses at HBO are well - marketing geniuses. I remember before the premiere of hit vampire drama True Blood, they sent out vials of the synthetic blood to TV reviewers.

OK, it wasn’t real fake blood, I mean, you know what I mean. It was a beverage made to look like fake blood. The point is it got my attention. Admittedly free stuff often does that, which is why companies do it.

But a New Zealand True Blood promotion is letting everyone get in on the act. The promo posters actually come with stakes you can break off in case of vampire attack. We’ve already been the victim of numerous jests from our Kiwi friends as to why they would never do this promo in the United States. C’mon, HBO, prove ‘em wrong! We survived Bat Day at Yankee Stadium, after all. Give us some fake stakes!

True Blood cast in blue

Two shots of the what I call the weird blue cast photo.
It was taken in California -that is NOT Louisiana behind them.

They all have on their Episode 5 , Descendents of the Glorious Dead meeting clothes so I'm guessing it was taken on the day of that shoot..boy, I'd love to know where that church they used is...

Have I said today how much I love HBO ?

Nice article in New York Observer about HBO lineup

..Things start off this Sunday with the two-hour series premiere of The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. Based on the best selling books by Alexander McCall Smith, Ladies’ stars R&B singer Jill Scott as a recently divorced Botswanan woman who opens her own detective agency. (The title, in this case, is very literal.) Ladies’ appears to be the type of series that we see so little of on HBO—a light-hearted procedural that won’t be caked in Shakespearean tragedy; that the pilot was co-written by Love, Actually’s Richard Curtis and the late Anthony Minghella should tell you all you need to know about Ladies’ tone. Additionally, cinephiles should take note: Mr. Minghella directed Sunday’s pilot before passing away last spring, and it represents the last chance anyone will have to see new work from the Oscar-winner...

Of course, this is all a prelude to the summer, when Entourage and True Blood return with new seasons. This year they’ll be joined on the HBO roster by Hung, a new series from Sideways director Alexander Payne. Hung stars Anne Heche, Jane Adams and Thomas Jane, playing a high-school gym teacher with a really big … well, think about the ending of Boogie Nights and you can probably figure out where this series is going. As they say, “It’s not TV, it’s HBO.”

Read on

May I also note that they have had the guts recently to air (and in some cases produce) programs like :

They Killed Sister Dorothy
Death on a Factory Farm
The Witness: From the Balcony of Room 306
Right America: Feeling Wronged - Some Voices from the Campaign Trail
Taxi to the Dark Side
and
Taking Chance

I'm not sure where we'd be without HBO and it's not always just fun and entertainment like our beloved True Blood -- but it's oh, so very important!

Because vampires get thirsty too

If you are thinking about having a True Blood Season 2 kick off party you might like to use these nifty printable labels , this idea is for a certain other vampire movie that will remain nameless but it rhymes with 'highlight ' ; >

But they are pretty neat HERE

Do you have a question for Alexander Skarsgard?

Quite a few little birdies this morning have told me to let everyone know you can post two questions at http://www.skarsgardnews.tk/ and you might get them answered by Alexander Skarsgard!

True Blood Season 2 Possible Title Song: Ep. 6 ' Friend is a four letter word'

This is exciting ! We now (might)know the titles of the first 6 episodes of True Blood for Season 2.

Now the one thing we know about True Blood is that the episode names come from the a song used in in the soundtrack of that episode and that it is somehow significant to that episode.

So far this year we have :
Episode 2.01 - Nothing but the Blood
Episode 2.02 - Keep this Party Going
Episode 2.03 - Changed to Scratches from Scratch My Back
Episode 2.04 - Changed to Shake and Fingerpop from Let's Take a Trip Together
Episode 2.05 - Never let me go

All we know about Season 2 spoilers, casting calls etc. can be found here
We know the amazing Gary Calamar puts great effort into musically curating True Blood !

Episode 2.06 - Friend is a Four Letter Word

Now, this is only my guess, I just research the various songs with the leaked title and come up with a song I think it might be.

This one just absolutely HAS to be CAKE ! Well, it doesn't have to be , but what a great song. I always know it's a CAKE on the radio because aside from McCrea's voice , how many other rock bands have prominent trumpets ?

Four Letter Word from the album Fashion Nugget.

Cake (officially capitalized "CAKE") is an American alternative rock band from Sacramento, California which has had several hits throughout the 1990s and 2000s from six albums.
Cake was formed in 1991 by vocalist/songwriter John McCrea, guitarist Greg Brown, trumpeter Vince DiFiore, bassist Shon Meckfessel and drummer Frank French. Shon Meckfessel soon left and was replaced by Gabe Nelson. In 1993, the band released its debut single, "Rock 'n' Roll Lifestyle." Although self-released, the single managed to hit number 31 on the US Modern Rock Tracks.

to me, coming from you,
friend is a four letter word.
end is the only part of the word
that i heard.
call me morbid or absurd.
but to me, coming from you,
friend is a four letter word.

to me, coming from you,
friend is a four letter word.
end is the only part of the word
that I heard.
call me morbid or absurd.
but to me, coming from you,
friend is a four letter word.

when I go fishing for the words
i am wishing you would say to me,
i'm really only praying
that the words you'll soon be saying
might betray the way you feel about me.

True Blood Carrie Preston promises more weird stuff—and vampires!"

Carrie Preston, who plays the man-crazy red-headed bar waitress Arlene Fowler in HBO's vampires series True Blood, told SCI FI Wire that the show will delve deeper into various supernatural phenomena when it returns in the summer with 12 new episodes.

"Things are going to get a little crazy on the show," Preston said in an exclusive interview. "There's going to be a bunch of new sort of supernatural things that are being introduced. Besides the ... the vampires. And, as far as Arlene goes, well, let's just say that Arlene's not the type of woman to be single for very long." Arlene's last fiance, Rene (Michael Raymond James), was revealed to be the serial killer in last season's finale and wound up with a shovel in the head.

The show's second season will also boast a bunch of new cast members, including Valerie Cruz, Anna Camp and Ashley Jones, as well as Battlestar Galactica's Michelle Forbes, Mehcad Brooks and Deborah Ann Woll.

"We just finished the fifth episode," Preston said. "Starting the sixth one today out of 12, so we're almost halfway through already."

Following is an edited Q&A based on our exclusive interview. (Some minor spoilers ahead!)

Talk a little bit more about some of these supernatural elements we're going to see in the show.

Preston: I don't know if I'm at liberty to talk about it in detail, but, we are departing a bit from the books [the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris]. ... So the writers have really taken the groundwork that they set in the first season and kind of launched from that, and they're fleshing out characters that are minor in the books, and they're ... changing some plot things, and they've really made it their own. ...

You're going to see some characters doing things that you're surprised at, which will be fun. So I think the show is going to kind of keep you on your toes, and there's several different storylines that are spinning in the air. ...

I presume one of those would be Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Bill (Stephen Moyer).

Preston: Sookie and Bill, uh huh, and we're going to follow Jason [Ryan Kwanten]. He's going to kind of veer off the path a little bit. And so we'll be watching that. And then Tara [Rutina Wesley] has gotten herself involved with some questionable characters. And then, of course, you're always going to touch back down into the Merlotte's crowd. ...

Tara's now with Maryann, played by Michelle Forbes.

Preston: Oh, yes. She's going to figure quite prominently this season. ... It's very mysterious, and, I mean, we're still a little confused ... as to what her powers actually are. But, you know, she is a very powerful force.

Will there be deaths?

Preston: Some new characters have been introduced and, you know, it remains to be seen whether they will live or die. That's the thing with being on the show, you just never know: Are you going to make it? Are you going to make it through the season? Especially now that they've departed from the books. Because when I got the job, of course, I read all the books to see if Arlene lives, and she does in the books, but who knows?
