E!s 10 Vampires we love includes True Blood Vamps

Go Ask Dallas : What's the deal with Dead in the Family (Sookie bk#10) cover and why isn't it on CH site?

There sure has been a lot of fuss over the supposed 'leaked' Sookie #10: Dead in the Family book cover this past week. On the CH fan forum no one is still even allowed to post, discuss or even mention it without the post being deleted.

So, as usual -I'm getting lots of emails .....

To which I say ...what the F? What the hell is all the fuss about ??? I mean, really !

I really don't know why Charlaine has been sitting in the cover for so long without putting it on her own website and why she chose not to be the first to post it. I do know her publisher gave the image of the cover to Project Paranormal video team ( which is a project of Penguin books) to be used in the "Holiday Author Greetings" videos and they used it and the videos were posted on Dec 10th.

Run the video below to 0:52 or so and there you will see it embedded in the video as Charlaine is talking.

I've heard lots of whining about unauthorized books covers being posted on fan sites and speculations as to whether it's really "the" cover. I just don't get this controversy at all -because the publisher themselves posted the video ( with the cover ) then we ( TB/Sookie fan blogs) all posted the cover and started talking about it, NOTHING nefarious about it at all.

Her publisher put it out there and we talked about it .... case closed.
I say, let the discussion begin ...

Oh and remember we are having a special 'Dead in the Family' edition of our "Talk Blood " radio show this Sunday night ! Let's talk more about this then....

True Blood Christmas '09: The Magister is coming to town

(sung to the tune of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town")

You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
The Magister is coming to town

He's making a list,
And checking it twice;
Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice.
The Magister is coming to town

He sees you in your coffin
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!

O! You better watch out!
You better not cry.
Better not pout, I'm telling you why.
The Magister is coming to town.
The Magister is coming to town.

The hunt for Alcide

True Blood’s wolf hunt has officially begun!

Although Alan Ball confirmed to me over the summer that werewolf Alcide would take a big bite out of the drama’s upcoming third season, the search for an actor to play the pivotal part formally got underway today with the release of the following casting notice:

ALCIDE: Good-looking, rough-around-the-edges, articulate, heroic, and decent, but not what he seems. He gets along well with Sookie. There’s even an attraction between the two. Very strong recurring.

True Blood is also searching for a fortysomething African-American actor to play HOLLIS, a bouncer in a bar. Despite his scary appearance — he resembles an NFL lineman — he’s a nice guy who knows Alcide well. He’s suspicious of Sookie and delivers some unexpected bad news to Alcide about his fiancée, Debbie Pelt.

Finally, Alan Ball is on the lookout for an actor in his 70s to play Arlene’s old-school (spoiler alert) obstetrician.

Production on True Blood’s third season got underway last week, hence all the casting activity of late.

True Blood - Episode 3.03 - It Hurts Me Too

Director: Michael Lehmann

Writer: Alexander Woo

[ALCIDE HERVEAUX] This good looking, rough looking but articulate and basically decent man is not what he seems. He is a heroic type and he and Sookie get along really well, and it's possible there's even an attraction between the two..VERY STRONG RECURRING

[HOLLIS] 40s, African American, this bouncer in a bar looks like he either was an NFL lineman or has just eaten one. A nice guy who knows Alcide well (though he's suspicious of Alcide's guest, Sookie), Hollis bursts in to help when Alcide is getting the crap beaten out of him, and then gives him some unexpected bad news about his fiancee, Debbie...2 speeches & 7 lines, 2 scenes (42)

[DR. ROBIDEAUX] 70s... this kindly, old-school gynecologist/obstetrician examines Arlene with an ultra-sound. 1 speech & 6 lines, 1 scene (18)

[TURK] This obnoxious, drunk in a bar taunts the apparently helpless Sookie...3 lines, 1 scene (43)

[PASTOR] This pastor presides at Eggs' funeral and gives the eulogy sptv050769...1 speech, 1 scene (20)

Anne Rice Interview : she likes Bill Compton

Dean: What do you think of the current vampire types like those in "Twilight" and "True Blood?"

Rice: It's fun. I think there's nothing there to be frightened about or upset about. I've seen both the "Twilight" series and I think they were just romances for young teens. I mean, it's the same formula as "Jane Eyre" basically. The young girl ... the other mysterious figure takes an interest in her and is both protective and yet is a threat. And it's kind of, I think, Stephenie Meyer hit on that formula and it's a formula that always works. She's just done it in a new way. I'm amazed that parents are kind of frightened. I think the kids reading the book know that it's fiction. There were people a hundred years ago frightened when people were reading the book "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Brontë. There's nothing to be frightened about. It's just fiction.

And I think "True Blood" is very clever. I really like Bill Compton. I think he's a nice, really melancholy, tormented vampire. I think Southerners really like "True Blood" because they got the South right. It took a vampire show to get it right. So often they get it totally wrong, but somehow or another, it totally works.

Stephen Moyers dogs and Granddad

I don't usually post much celebrity / Hollywood stuff but i thought this was interesting about Stephen's granddad

True Blood' star Stephen Moyer has had to enrol his two dogs into boot camp after neighbours complained about the noise they make.

Stephen Moyer has sent his dogs to boot camp.

The 'True Blood' actor and fiancee Anna Paquin were forced to take action to teach Splash and Banjo to behave properly after receiving angry messages from their neighbours.

Stephen said: "Right now, Splash is in Los Angeles in boot camp with my new dog Banjo. They don't really get on.

"Splash is a grumpy old f**ker. Banjo has been doing what all puppies do, p**sing and s**ting everywhere, eating everything that comes to his realm, including Anna's shoes.

"We had a nasty letter from a few neighbours saying, 'Please, please can you stop them from barking or we're going to have to call the police. We say this with love, but please.' "

Before embarking on an acting career, Stephen had ambitions to become a boxer and says his role in the US drama has helped him pursue the sport further.

He explained to Esquire magazine: "My granddad was a boxer and a coach, so it was something very close to me - I used to train with him when I was young.

"I'm not by any means a fighter, but I love it. HBO, which makes our show, does all of the boxing in America so I'm getting to train with Freddie Roach, who trains Amir Khan."
