True Blood’s Season Finale Kills Off All the Right People by Meredith Woerner of io9.com

Last night, the season finale for the fourth year of True Blood came and went with a wet fart noise. Some of it was good, but most of it was bad. True Blood can do better than this, which is why we're looking forward to the fifth season.
But let me explain it to you in Pro/Con style.
Pro: Lafayette/Marnie calmly stares at Jesus in completely silence, nothing suspicious here…and stabs Jesus with the fork.
Con: Doo-da-doo, making coffee with Sookie! NOPE! Dead Grandma on the floor.
Con: Tara spent the night at Sookie's house, so now Tara is cool staying in the house with Eric in it? After that fantastic "Fuck you guys!" speech? Way to stick to your guns, Tara. Also, had you stayed at Lafayette's house, Jesus might not have been hand-forked.
Con: Sookie explains how Marnie channeled Gran all those days ago, notes how she took none of her advice. Sookie continues on saying that she "feels like her Gran is here," like really, really here. Which in True Blood foreshadowing language means, "Grams is coming back in about 20 minutes." So yay?
Pro: "What are we magnets for fucking craziness?" Yes. And clearly Sookie is keeping said magnet in her vagina.

True Blood Says Fin To Many Characters by Alex Cranz from Fempop.com

Characters Who Exhibited A Lot of Growth This Season

  • LaFayette. From the token black gay guy who swishes in to say something sassy to one of the best written characters on the show. He’s a mess of contradictions and Nelson Ellis makes them all WORK. One of the few characters in all of television with such a wonderfully consistent voice. A fry cook turned medium who could easily anchor his own show.
  • Jesus. From LaFayette’s eye candy to a living breathing character. He was conflicted about his cultural roots and the dark nature of them. He genuinely cared for others–including batshit crazy Marnie. He was gorgeous. He finally confronted his grandfather. Also he and LaFayette shared a deep and abiding love. Unlike some characters Jesus and LaFayette showed us and told us they were in love and we believed them.
  • Tara. She finally stopped being the victim of every bad thing ever–except for when she was Marnie’s evil henchwoman for an episode. She was smart, sassy and clever. Also she was gay and it only felt a little insulting instead of super insulting.

Gran returns and speaks words of wisdom to Sookie

Tara thinks this is what she'd say if she came back

  • To be good to each other.

  • And wear more sunscreen.

  • And stop gettin' into so much dang trouble

When Gran appears she says this to Sookie

S: I'm so lost without you. I don't know what to do.

G: Yes, you do. Answer's where it always is...in your heart.Bein' alone, it ain't nothin' to be afraid of, my Sookie. We're all alone at the end.

True Blood: In Death There Is A Heavy Peace by Jefwithonef Houston Press

Maybe it's the fact that Gothtopia grew up with no religion, or maybe it's that fact that Gothtopia has spent too many nights with Paul Fredric of Asmodeus X in a weird competition to see who can out-nihilist the other one. Either way, death has never really had any fear for us.
Oh sure, dying sounds like it sucks the calcium deposits right off the Grim Reaper's pelvis. Cancer, car wreck, rhinoceros encounter, they all sound like way too much freakin' ouchie. Death itself, though? No, we're not really scared.

Gary Calamar, who is in charge of True Blood's music and thus also the paycheck we draw from talking about it (Hi, Gary!), knew he needed just the right vibe for the Season 4 finale of True Blood, and he knew that "And When I Die" was the song that he wanted to use.
But which version worked the best? The Laura Nyro version? After all, she wrote it. Peter, Paul & Mary, or perhaps the more famous cover by Blood, Sweat & Tears?

No, in the end Calamar got in touch with The Heavy to record a brand new version that would fully embody the half-trailer park, half Dark Shadows vibe that makes up True Blood.

True Blood' recap: The witch is dead and so is... LA Times

Nan Flanagan, Debbie Pelt, Jesus and possibly Tara! The body count for Sunday's Season 4 finale of "True Blood" was high by nearly any measure and certainly full of surprises, like, say the fact that Steve Newlin's back -- and he's a vampire! -- not to mention that Russell Edgington sure seems to have managed to worm his way out of that concrete grave that Bill and Eric had confined him to at the end of last year...
The most heart-wrenching loss, clearly, is that of Jesus (because there's no way that Tara won't pull through, but more on that later). Things began to look not so good for Lafayette's magically inclined boyfriend as soon as the episode opened. He sincerely apologizes to Lafayette for dragging him into a world of magic before he was ready, totally unaware that Marnie's spirit has taken possession of Lafayette and has big plans to use his physical body to continue her vengeance tour through Bon Temps.

Tara’s Final Act is she dead? Will she be saved ? Maybe turned or might she be the new Bubba ?

Is she dead ? Will Eric and Bill arrive in time to save here , or will they turn her ?

Or with her injuries could she be the new bubba ?

Unwritten Future
“I don’t know what they have in store for next season. I haven’t seen any scripts, so I have no idea what’s going to happen. I’m either at death’s door, or I’m gone. That’s scary for an actor, but if my time has come, then my time has come – and what a way to go, saving your best friend’s life. It’s pretty cool that everyone’s going to be going, “Is she, or isn’t she?” I’m excited and terrified all at the same time. I could be a ghost, I could die – it’s in the hands of our wonderful writers and the creative mind of Alan Ball.”
Cherished Memories
“I love the Super Save-A-Bunch scene when you first see Tara. I love being in the bar for my first scene with Lafayette, and the whole plantation scene where I tell the guy not to snap at me – cause right there, that’s Tara. I also loved working with Michelle Forbes, who is amazing. Plus, I got to be a little more girly in Season 2, dressing up a little more. I think one of my favorite scenes was in the red bikini in Season 2, doing a cannonball into the pool. I was so happy they let me do that. And oddly enough, being duct-taped to the toilet was the strangest, weirdest, most degrading scene, but it was so funny because Franklin kept coming in with these flowers … The situational comedy of that is just hilarious.”
Saying Goodbye
“Shooting that scene was very hard and emotional. I think everybody on set shed a tear that day; it was really tough to get through. When you see someone that you’ve lived with and breathed with for four years come to some kind of end, it’s very powerful – and sad. It’s really hard to play dead when you’re about to cry. All three of us went out afterwards – me, Brit [Morgan] and Anna [Paquin]. We had some food and kind of celebrated the end of a killer scene. Brit bites it too, so we were kind of just loving up on each other and supporting each other.”

True Blood Season 4 Ep 12 " And when I die " subtitles ! What did they say last night ???

TB s 4 Ep 12 Subtitle

“True Blood” Sucker Punch: Season 4, Ep. 12

Oh my God… it’s like this episode was delivered directly to my heart. It’s like Alan Ball and company looked at an X-ray of my desires and said, “Oh, okay. Let’s give Mark everything he wants for the end of the season.” And sure, that’s not what actually happened, but I love this episode no less, no less, no less.
“And When I Die” is a prophetic title since many characters do just that. I’ve been frustrated with the show for weeks because it keeps creating faux-dangerous situations for its lead characters, then rescuing them fifteen seconds later, with no one actually dying or (more importantly) changing. It’s been exhausting.
This week, however, real change visits everyone, and in at least a few cases, real death. I’m not saying I’ve been wanting characters to die, per se, but it’s nice to see the writers commit to the end of several arcs and then suggest how the survivors are going  move on. Rather than getting stuck in the rut of “I died, but then I drank your blood/inhabited your body,” we get some honest-to-god evolution.
Granted, I expect at least one of these deaths to be magically reversed next season, but since so many other changes have been set it motion, I’ll be fine with that. If any of these people survive, then they’ll be returning to a different world.
But let’s get back to the episode:

Trie Blood Season4 Episode 12 " And when I die " Recap

Nelsan Ellis Describes the Loss of His On-Screen Lover

It’s always tough losing one of your good work buddies, but usually nobody makes you force them out at the end of a kitchen knife. Nelsan Ellis, who plays Lafayette on ‘True Blood,’ told us a bit about how Kevin Alejandro’s spectacular exit in the season finale has affected him – and his character.
“Lafayette is distraught,” Ellis says. “He wasn’t the one who killed Jesus, but it was by his hand. This is possibly Lafayette’s first real meaningful love, and he wasn’t strong enough to protect Jesus – even though Jesus has been able to protect him all season. It was a hard scene for me because I’ve been working with Kevin for two years and we’re best of friends. We’ve done some real intimate stuff … So it was hard really for me to stab him.”

Steve Newlin returns to True Blood with fangs !

Do you really think Newlin is a vamp ??

Inside True Blood Blog Michael McMillian talks about returning as Steve Newlin to

True Blood.

“It seems really clear to me that Steve was always just as attracted to Jason as his wife was,” McMillian says. “In his eyes, Jason Stackhouse is the guy that Steve really wanted to be. I think he had a really heavy man-crush on him … that might have gone a bit deeper. And I think Steve is more heartbroken that Jason slept with Sarah than he is that Sarah slept with Jason, if you know what I mean. I have my own theories and ideas of what Steve’s been up to off-screen – and I’m sure the fans do, too – and I’m sure the writers will fill that in. But I think the fact that he’s coming back for Jason is linked to that emotional undercurrent he was feeling in Season 2. I have no idea where the show is headed, but it’s great to be back, even just for a few hours on set.”

Recipe: Blood-Red Sangria Cocktail
INGREDIENTS
Sangria Simple Syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup red wine, such as Merlot or Zinfandel
1 cup dark sweet cherries, stemmed, pitted, and halved
1 stick cinnamon

Strips of orange peel from 1 medium orange (orange part only)
Sangria Martini Cocktail
Ice cubes
3 tablespoons (1 1/2 oz) citron (citrus) vodka
2 tablespoons (1 oz) clear orange-flavored liqueur
2 tablespoons (1 oz) sangria simple syrup, chilled (above)
1 dark sweet cherry on a cocktail pick
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1
To make simple syrup, in 1 1/2-quart saucepan, mix sangria simple syrup ingredients.
Heat to boiling over medium heat.
Simmer 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from heat; let cool 30 minutes.
Strain mixture through fine mesh strainer; discard solids.
Cover and chill sangria syrup until ready to use. Makes about 1 1/2 cups.
STEP 2
To make cocktail, fill cocktail shaker with ice.
Add vodka and orange liqueur to cocktail shaker; cover and shake.
Strain into martini glass.
Drizzle sangria syrup into cocktail in glass.
Garnish with cherry.
BETTY CROCKER EXPERT TIP
Use a vegetable peeler to remove strips of orange peel. Be sure to remove only the orange part of the peel; the white part, called pith, is bitter.
