Dead in the Family : Sookie book 10 plot summary

I'm not kidding posted to W.H Smith. the UK bookseller's webpage.

Sookie Stackhouse has finally settled into a relationship with the Viking vampire Eric, and her errant brother Jason seems to have his life in order, too. But all the other people in Sookie’s life – Eric himself, her former lover Bill, her friend and boss Sam – are having family problems. Eric’s maker shows up with Eric’s ‘brother’ in tow, the ailing Bill can only be healed by a blood sibling, and Sam’s brother’s marriage is about to take place …or will it? The furor raised by the coming out of the two-natured has yet to settle; some people are just not ready to sit down to dinner with a man who turns into a dog. And Sookie herself is still recovering from her last ordeal. She’s definitely improving, physically and mentally, but she’s always going to have some dark moments now. The werewolves tell her that there have been strange and ominous passers-by in the Stackhouse woods; now Sookie is about to come face-to-face with one of her more distant relatives…
Thanks, TES

  3. Please, please let this be real!!!!

  4. I have my doubts...the description sounds a little unpolished. I think it is a fake!

    ReplyDelete
  5. I guarantee it's not fake, both of the largest bookseller in the UK ( WH Smith ( like our Borders ) and Amazon UK have the same plot summary listed for the pre- order of the book. Charlaine has also confirmed it as correct.

  6. Wow! I can't wait for it to come out!

    When is the release date?
    Thanks in advance!

  7. I suppose the description could be real, with the little we know of what is to come in the next book, So if it is real, thenit looks really interesting.

Also, on Mrs Harris site she said she send it to her editor, but I wonder how do they know exactly ho many page it will be since it hasn't been printed yet?

  8. ...I thought Eric's maker was dead? Doesn't he mention that to Sookie? I don't remember in which book, though.

  9. Once a book is given a ISBN number (International Standard Book Number) it has a certain amount of descriptive information connected to it ...this would be the basic including: publisher, date , pages, title

No, we learn of Appius Livius Ocella in Bk 9 but he is not dead that we know of ..

  10. Gee!i go take a nap wake up to a nice
surprise.I know every one is loving
    this.

    ReplyDelete
  11. So Rita, did that nap include a dream with Eric in a prominent role?

And how great is "relationship with the Viking vampire Eric"?

AB should have left Godric as the character he was in the books. Talk about rewriting a character. Now we have the real maker showing up. But I did love the scene with Eric and Godric on the roof. And who knows if TB will last 10 books worth. Not many series last that long.

And we need more on the shifters coming out. The way it was left in BK 9 was very unsatisfying. It was like it was just thrown out there and then abandoned. There must be more consequences.

  12. YES!it is always a great dream.As i
am not feeling well this has made my
day,and i do believe this is the best
    meds.I can take.

  13. Way cool...

well they could always bring Eric's real maker in as like a brother vamp, or very old friend...

The release date say May 2011 is that the UK release date, becasue it says May 2010 for the US release date correct?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well maybe Appius has either made
another child or Eric's real brother
also a vampire with him,and also that
means that the Bellefluers have to be
told about Bill and how will they
    take the news.The distant relative
has to be Dermant i think.Oh!this is
going to be so good,i could do a happy dance.

  15. its the uk release date for the paperback but i posted the hardback 2010 date too- look back at the post

  16. By the time AB gets to Book 10, he could always write Appius as Godric's maker.

  17. Only 9 more months unti it comes out. I discovered these books in 2005 and read the first 5 almost all at once. Since then it's been such a long wait between books.

  18. vampfan--I also was introduced to the Sookieverse by my cousin (RIP) in 2005! Can you believe it's been 4 years now?!?

I'm excited about Book 10, but knowing that CH has contracted for 3 more books after this one, why do I have a feeling she may break Sookie and Eric's relationship up by the end of 10 or 11?

I still think Sookie is going to end up having shifter puppies/owls/flies (oh and lion cubs for those who have read the books) with Sam at the end of the series. ;P

    =^..^=

  19. This looks very exciting! Rita, good point about the Bellefleurs. I was thinking that Ms. Harris has been saving that plot point for future use, and this is where it probably comes into play. It will be interesting to see how Portia (who sort of dated her relative...) and Andy will take it.

  20. To TeamEricSookie:

you know, i was thinking the EXACT same thing (the theory about Eric and Sookie breaking up and eventually getting together with Sam)! i've thought about his before and it all makes perfect sense: CH said in an interview that Sookie will NEVER become a vamp. if thats so, she can never truly stay with a vamp boyfriend because she will grow old and feeble. plus Sookie has always traditionally wanted to get married and have kids and she cant have children with a vamp.

  21. Pyro you are preaching from the book of Dallas ! Amen !

Haha yes TES you forgot in the double wide , out back of the bar with a litter of shifter puppies...still makes me laugh.

I don't know that it will be Sam though, I will be surprised if the TES ( team eric sookie-to steal TeS's name) lasts through bk 10.

Remember when it says "settle" these books have been taking place over the course of 18 days...so where as we may see a time jump before the beginning of the book the book will take place in a short amount of time .

Sounds like poor Bill ain't got much time ..you know it could also be the lovely Portia ( Not Terry, I think he's descended from one of the other Bellefluer brothers)she would be the most unlikely so probably she's the one CH would make save her vampire gr gr gr grandfather's life ...

    delicious -thanks CH

  23. Did no one interpret "the ailing Bill can only be healed by a blood sibling" as he has to be healed by another vamp made by Lorena?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I did Sarah too, Sarah. The humans who become vampires are drained by the vampire and then they take the blood of the vampires.

    So that could be ...

  25. Dallas, this is why I visit your site over and over again. I don't need to search the internet looking for bits of information. You serve it up nice and neat. Thanks so much for all your hard work.

  26. Oh Dallas! i didn't think about it
had to be a vampire.Well i guess Bill
will be in a lot of trouble then as
Lorena is dead, but surely Bill is not
her only child. Will we find out?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ummm...considering Eric's maker "meets the sun" in Living Dead in Dallas, I don't see how his maker "shows up with Eric's brother in tow". I'm not believing this yet.

    ReplyDelete
  28. oh no, in the books Godric IS NOT Eric's maker, we don't even learn about Eric's maker until bk 9

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'll go nuts if after all the drama Eric and Sookie dont have a lasting relationship. For me it feels like that's the story from bk 1 (when they met, =p), how their relationship evolved, all they have to go through to trust each other, love each other, hate each other.
    --
Maybe Appius What's-His-Name was the reason Eric couldn't go save Sookie himself; he told her she would understand. And i've been hopin he did have a D*** good reason, and this is both good as it is bad. I don't think she would tolerate it, that maybe he would force Eric away from Sookie or something.
    --
And as for Bill, in bk 9 CH gave mixed signals as to which vamp Sookie would pick. No, no, no. No more love triangles. And no more Bill. I love him but my heart is not with him anymore. CH is giving me a headache and nightmares about that. Maybe Bill could be sookie's best friend. POINT.

  30. Eric's maker is dead he is Godric something tells me this cant be really the whole 2nd book and 2nd season of true blood was to go to Dallas and find him and they do and they are standing intop of the buliding and the sun comes up and he blows into dust so it cant be real

    ReplyDelete
  31. zak, in the books Godric is NOT Eric's maker it's the roman guy Godric was definitely not Roman

    ReplyDelete
  32. I completely agree with L-Silverio! Sookie & Eric's story is THE love story of the series, the one's that's been evolving throughout. CH would be insane to end this now. Sam is not the man for Sookie, nor is Alcide, Bill, or Quinn. I believe that maybe Sookie will find out that she can live for a very long time since she's part fairy. She has not once asked her fairy relatives if she could live longer than an average human - you'll notice that in one of the books (8 or 9), Sookie lists all the fairy relatives she had and how they'f all been taken before their time, so what if Sookie doesn't have any fatal accidents, can she live for 500 years? Can her nephew too?

    ReplyDelete
  33. The Sookie living longer is not a possibility

“Yes, Sookie will live a normal human life in every respect. And she is not pregnant by anybody.”

  34. If CH finishes Eric and Sookies relationship - just like that after all the drivel that was written about Sookie and Bill I have a feeling I won't continue Reading the books - TEAM ERIC- who wouldn't want a hot viking boyfriend

    ReplyDelete
  35. In Book 9, when Eric feeds Sookie for 2 days straight it is implied "something" more will happen between them. I am wondering how close a bond Eric will have with Sookie in book 10 besides physical. Team Eric for me...he is the only one who does things out of the blue for Sookie...fixed her driveway, bought her a new coat, bought a cell phone, he cares about her needs even though he is fighting his desires for her...he is not the selfish one who just wants sex. I hope she stays with Eric and no telling where this book will go...if this plot is real, then TrueBlood has some crazy plot lines ahead. Cant wait for the book realease in May.

*Dallas* In August another CH book is coming out with a Sookie Stakehouse story in it, do you know what it is about?

  37. When Eric and Sookie break up I am through with the books, series and any True Blood merchandise.
Eric cared from the very beginning..the first time she went to Fangtasia he tried to glamour her even thoough Bill had claimed her. He has been there for her and he has given of himself not just material things. He married her, protected her and offered to let her live in his house.
Eric is clearly the better man.

  38. Mae:

I read the article. Sookie says she "loves" Eric but there is no passion behind it. I am hoping if the article is real that she does stay with him. She saounds really depressed but then again, over 25 people she has known have died when she is brought into the picture. She always mentions in the books she is done with werewolves, vampires and other beings...sometimes it takes it toll. I am wondering how CH is going to convert Sookie from having Eric blood. Will she be able to hear vampires more since she heard vampires better the last time she tranferred blood with Eric. I do think Eric is the more caring vampire and he does love her. His way is to be stand off since he knows enemies are all around and he does not want her hurt, hence the "marriage". Wondering where CH will bring us next?
