Happy Valentines Day from Merlottes staff

Gifts for Fans of Vampires from Happy Corner

Full of secrets and mystery, the vampire has intrigued many and currently appears in an array of novels, movies, and television shows. From ‘True Blood’ on HBO to the ‘Twilight’ series, fangs and staying out of the sunlight have become an increasingly popular trend in entertainment. Somewhere in your family and friends, there’s a diehard Sookie Stackhouse fan or teenager who’s gaga over Bella and Edward Cullen.

When browsing gifts for fans of vampires, consider the following suggestions:

Can 'Wolfman' destroy vampire fever?

(CNN) -- Until Taylor Lautner beefed up and began walking around shirtless in "New Moon," there wasn't a chance in the underworld that werewolves could steal pop culture's rabid affection for vampires.

But now that moviegoers' appetites have been whetted for this particularly hairy breed of supernatural beast, perhaps the new horror movie "The Wolfman," starring Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins, can help the myth finally step out from the, er, non-shadow of vampires after all.

In the past 30 years, there have been a number of films dedicated to the frightening -- and sometimes hilarious -- things that can happen when under the werewolf curse, yet the genre has never soared into popularity.

We're officially past "New Moon" frenzy, and werewolves haven't exactly shown up in TV series, novels and other movies the same way vampirism has since "Twilight" and its cohorts left their mark

'True Blood' Scoop! New Cast Member Kevin Alejandro Describes His First Scene In Season 3

Yesterday we brought you Kevin Alejandro's thoughts on his cop series, "Southland," which is currently airing on TNT after getting a premature axe from NBC before its second season even aired. Today, we have something even juicier — 411 on Kevin's new gig as a hospital worker named Jesus on HBO's "True Blood." Unfortunately, he couldn't spill many actual details about what, exactly, his role entails (they're pretty tight-lipped over at "True Blood" headquarters), but he tried his hardest to give us the scoop on his character, who just so happens to be Lafayette's (Nelsan Ellis) new love interest.

Kevin said that Jesus is going to be hanging around Bon Temps for the entire season, which began shooting a couple of weeks ago. "There's not a whole lot I can tell you about it because they're very, very secretive with what is released and what's out there," he said.

What literary character have you fallen in love with?

EW asks .. name your favorite TB character and why in the comments!

It’s nearly Valentine’s Day, Shelf Lifers! So in the spirit of the holiday, I thought, why not dedicate a post to those we share a special bond with: The characters in literature that we love?

And I mean love, folks. Not just respect, or admire, but love. Because, really, what avid reader hasn’t fallen for a fictional character at one point in time?

Here’s my confession: While reading East of Eden as a teen, I had a major crush on Caleb Trask, the jealous twin brother of perfect son Aron. (The fact that I went for the one who represents Cain versus the one who’s a stand-in for Abel probably says a lot about me…) And I even came dangerously close to falling for the unlucky-in-love-and-life protagonist of Jonathan Tropper’s This Is Where I Leave You after reading it last year.

So now it’s your turn: Which literary characters have you fallen in love with? And let’s try to stretch our minds beyond Twilight’s Edward Cullen, shall we?

A Dozen Of The Sexiest Werewolves and the best werewolves In Film & TV

They havent seen our Alcide yet ...

If Frankenstein's monster represents man creating life without a woman and Dracula represents sleeping with a stranger, then the werewolf is no doubt the bestiality within man. We all have some form of a dark nature encoded in our genetic make-up, the beast within if you will. Even though Vampires seem to be all the rave nowadays, I was always a greater fan of the werewolf and find them sexier than those pale, angst ridden parasites. I can't really explain it and I'm sure my attraction to aggressive members of the opposite sex has something to do with it, but that's another story.

In celebration of the epic Benicio Del Toro vehicle The Wolfman, which resurrects one of Universal Pictures' classic movie monsters, I took a look at a dozen of the sexiest werewolves in movies and TV. This is not a list about the best werewolf movies ever made, but the werewolves themselves that I found memorable or in simple terms, sexy. The term animal magnetism can have several meanings for the werewolf and sometimes that power can leap right off the screen.

True Blood vs The Vampire Diaries

From Pace Miller's blog - OH NO! but she makes the right choice-;-)

Thanks to Twilight, vampire books and TV series are everywhere now (well, they’ve always been around, but are finally being noticed).

I recently finished watching Season 2 of HBO’s True Blood, and I am up-to-date with Season 1 of CW’s The Vampire Diaries (13 eps). So which is better?

It’s hard to compare the two, despite their obvious similarities (ie vampires, small town, pretty young girl torn between two vampires (a good and a bad one), younger brother, black girl as best friend, etc). True Blood is hard core – blood and guts, f-bombs galore and uncensored nudity and sex. The Vampire Diaries, constrained by network requirements, is much more sanitised, but I have a feeling they are doing what they can to ‘push the boundaries’, so to speak.
