Keck's Exclusives: True Blood Recasts Cousin Claude

Very interesting ...

True Blood's Sookie is getting a new fairy cousin in Season 5. Actor Giles Matthey, whose only credit is an appearance on The Good Wife last October, will assume the fairy wings previously worn by Neil Hopkins, who played the role in an episode last season.

Claude, in case you forget, is the twin brother of Sookie's elegant fairy cousin, Claudine, who we met toward the end of True Blood's third season. In the book series, Claude is an arrogant little queen whose only redeeming quality is his protective nature toward Claudine. Some fans criticized the choice of Neil for the role, considering him too old for the part.

While Claude will not be a series regular, I'm told the part will be considerably expanded into a multi-episode arc and could develop into something even larger. In the books, Claude and Sookie eventually grow to be close friends.

Andy Gets Some Fairy Tail! Swear to the light !

The fairies are back. Well, one at least. And we're not exactly sure why. 'Cause after she creepily open-eyed kisses Andy Bellefleur (and then proceeds to lick his face and screw him), she apparently disappeared back into her orb of light. We're seriously doubting Tinker-skank only popped in for a supernatural booty call, so get ready for some fairy action in next week's finale.

What do you think about this storyline ?? Swear to the light !

Why kill off Sookie's faery Godmother NOW?

I think because Claudette and Claude will be introduced and I think Claude will become Sookie's new fairy Godmother ( ala Lloyd who is Barry's )

If you are not a 'bookie' (a reader of the Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse novels upon which HBO's True Blood is based) then it may have only been a surprise not a shock when Claudine (played by Lara Pulver) was murdered by Amnesia!Eric right before Sookie's and our eyes.
Claudine had returned to 'our side' to implore, then demand that Sookie return to 'Faery' with her. When Sookie declined her faery godmother's invitation, then stated firmly that she wished Claudine to take a flying leap...she couldn't have known that Eric was listening and would, with his hypervamp-speed snatch Claudine up and proceed to feed on her--fatally. (Scroll down for more HBO copyright screenshots that I clipped---plus the official promo photo stills from this episode.)
In the book series, which I'll gingerly tred around as best I can (some people may interpret this as SPOILERS so be forewarned), Claudine is one of a trio of faery triplets---2 girls and a guy. We've met Claude in the True Blood  Faery as a rebel fae who helped save Sookie from Queen Mab. In the books there existed a 2nd female triplet who is dead when Sookie's world and the Fae's 'collide.'

"Claude" cast for True Blood season 4

If you thought this season of True Blood was a tad overcrowded, wait'll you get a load of season 4. Three new cast members have just been annouced. Meet Bon Temps' latest residents after the jump.
Deadline reports that Christina Moore (of Hawthorne), Neil Hopkins (a.k.a. Charlie's brother on Lost), and Chris Butler (The Good Wife) will be joining the show for at least several episodes next season.
Moore will play "Suzanne McKittrick, a WASPy Texas housewife who possesses certain special abilities," while Hopkins will portray "Claude, Claudine’s (Lara Pulver) mysterious brother" and Butler is "Emory, a prissy and conservative shapeshifter with his own agenda."

What Is Sookie Stackhouse? A Look at the Evidence in ‘True Blood’

Tara for Culture mob does a nice break down of "Sookie facts " from True Blood and then deduces what she is based on the books !

The Facts (disclosed thus far in the series—no spoiler alert if you’re caught up):

What is the light emitting from Sookie's hand?
  • Sookie has telepathic abilities.
  • Sookie can’t read the minds of vampires.
  • She can read the minds of some other supernatural creatures such as shifters and weres.
  • Bill and others seem to have been investigating Sookie’s lineage.
  • Vampires take a special interest in Sookie and seem to have an attraction to her.
  • When seriously threatened, Sookie can emit a light from her hand; this seems to stop those intending to harm her.
  • When unconscious and in the hospital in the most recent episode, Sookie had an ethereal dream or vision in which she met one Claudine.
  • Jason revealed that Sookie was born at home and had never been to the hospital prior to

    her most recent emergency.
  • Maryann Forrester was intrigued by Sookie’s nature, indicating that Sookie has an ability considered rare, even among supernatural beings.
  • After feeding on Sookie, Bill receives few negative effects from sun exposure. While he took a lot of blood, this may be an indication that her blood is somehow heartier than that of other humans.
  • The hospital was unable to determine Sookie’s blood type indicating that she ‘has no blood type.’
  • Sophie, Louisiana’s queen, has taken a special interest in Hadley—revealed to be Sookie’s cousin.

True Blood Fairies: Let's talk about the Vampires that sparkle , Claudine, Tinkerbell , "stealing your light" and the fairy pond in the cemetery scene !

Buzz --Buzz --Buzz about that scene ---
I won't say much because I want to hear your opinions..
The one thing I will say is that SOOKIE IS NOT PSYCHIC and does NOT have the power of precognition!
The scene where she a Claudine read each others minds is fine but the " I knew you'd say that " is off the rails as to what Sookie's powers are ( at least as we know them in the book ) So according to Ball, Sookie is not longer just a telepath, she is now also a psychic.

Also if AHott is right about the Bill in sunlight scene we now have the "sparkle" of the the Twilight vampires and "secret daylight rings" of Vampire Diaries coming into the True Blood world and a new power for the vampires.

Great email from AHott in California
I have a theory...just wanted to share with you. I do read the books but I am reading them "one step ahead of the series," I'm just now reading Book Four. This may have already been shared and if so, please excuse me. I may just be stating the obvious to both viewers and Bookies.
I think Alan Ball is suggesting that Sookie's blood (her "light" if you will) when ingested by vampires in large amounts, allows them to walk in the daylight. That is why Bill didn't die when kicked into the sunlight as he had just practically drained her. This is also why Claudine fears that Sookie would give Bill her "light." It would make the vampires so much more powerful if they knew of it. It's also why she doesn't have a bloodtype. The other clue I picked up is when Sookie picked up that crystal glass at her bedside and Claudine told her it was "empty" and she needed to refill it. Bill had just drained her of her blood and her "light" and she needed to refill it at the pond.

What do you guys think ???????

Casting Call for Claudine in True Blood Season 3 Episode 3.07

A new casting call is out for S03 E07 – “Hit the Floor”.

[CLAUDINE] 30s-40s. A beautiful, kind and loving figure who knows a lot about Sookie, she appears to Sookie in a golden vision. However, their utopia is abruptly dismantled when Claudine issues Sookie a mysterious warning. Possible recurring.

FYI : We should not see Claudine for the first time according to the books until the next book - we first meet Claudine in Bk 4 Dead to the World when she comes into Merlotte's with Tara. She is working part time with Tara at "Togs" Sometimes folks think we first see her waking Sookie up in the car but this is the first exchange:

"I'm Claudine," she said, with a beautiful smile. Her teeth were Hollywood white. Her skin had an odd
quality; it looked glossy and thin, reminding me of the skin of a plum; like if you bit her, sweet juice would gush out. "I'm here because of all the activity."
"Oh?" I said, taken aback.
"Sure. You have vampires, and Weres, and lots of other stuff all tangled up here in Bon Temps—to say nothing of several important and powerful crossroads. I was drawn to all the possibilities."
"Uh-huh," I said uncertainly. "So, do you plan on just observing all this, or what?"
"Oh, no. Just observing is not my way." She laughed. "You're quite the wild card, aren't you?"

We have seen the next book seeping into the season before in True Blood so this isn't too unusual.

This image is from the unaired True Blood Episode 1 - it used to be online but it's gone now.

True Blood Season 3: Sookie's kind of fairies are fierce, powerful and primal creatures

True Blood creator, Alan Ball, has revealed that several guest stars will return for the show’s third season, including Evan Rachel Wood as vampire Queen of Louisiana.

“The Queen is coming back,” Ball told The TV Guide. “Godric is coming back for an appearance, a flashback. There’s some new vampires in town, there are some werewolves. We do have a lot of werewolves coming in, male and female, but we haven’t started casting for the show yet.The new season will also explore Sookie’s identity and powers more deeply.

“Sookie still doesn’t know exactly what she is. She will get closer to figuring out why she has these random powers that show up when they do.

“She is definitely part of a different race. In terms of fairies, like perky fairies with wings, like Tinkerbell, no, they’re not like that. If it is fairies, they’re fierce. They’re not pretty, soft, glamorous, gossamery things. They’re really, really, really powerful and primal creatures.”

True Blood: this was not the first time we've had a hint at Sookie's " powers"

Watch the full length video of the unaired True Blood pilot.

This episode includes the other actress as Tara (Brook Kerr) instead of Rutina Wesley.

You will also see the "blue eyes ladies in the woods" (who we think might be Claudine, her fae cousin ) during the Sookie/ Mack Rattray fight this was taken out. The effect wasn't taken out in the uncanny ability with the chain.

This episode also has missing scenes and has very different music.

Sookie's Power Explained

From New York Post

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I loathe spoilers -- both giving and receiving. But today I accidentally stumbled across one for my favorite show, "True Blood," and instead of being filled with anger, rage and hatred, I found myself smiling.

Because the spoiler in question has to do with a mysterious moment that occurred right after Sookie laid her hands on Maryann's face during their confrontation.

Now, for those of you who feel similarly about spoilers, I have put all sensitive information below. So stop reading if you want to remain blissfully ignorant of what or who is behind Sookie's extra specialness.

OK, so this shouldn't be news to anyone whose read the books, but since I want my first exposure to the twists and turns of Bon Temps to be via "True Blood," I've opted out of reading.

However, while perusing a a report recapping a gathering of literary newbies, including Charlaine Harris author of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, I stumbled across the reveal that Sookie's powers come from the fact that she...is....a....fairy!

Or to use their words exactly, "We already saw Sookie's fairy manifestations when she touched Maryann!"

Love it! I wouldn't expect to see this play out until next season, but still ... fairy!

9th Annual Fairy & Human Relations Congress

9th Annual Fairy & Human Relations Congress
June 26 - 28, 2009
Skalitude Retreat Center ~ Twisp ~ Methow Valley ~ North Cascades ~ WA

The Fairy & Human Relations Congress is an event that attracts about 250 people held in the north central Cascades in Washington State. Our mission is to increase communication and co-creation between humans and nature.

"The Fairy Congress is not a New Age forum event. It’s about Doing, Joining, Sharing, looking to the future. In a collapsing world economy, Fairy Congress gives us an idea of another way of living, another way of thinking. Some of it comes from ancestral wisdom, some from new human visions of departing from the greed of commercial modernism. Fairy Congress is an Idealist event, a Visionary event, and an event buoyant with hope and friendship."

Who knows that Sookie is granddaughter to Niall and who knows she is part fairy?

Who knows that Sookie is granddaughter to Niall and who knows she is part fairy? We have two very different issues here that some are conflating.
What have I missed ?

In Dead and Gone:
"Hey, does the new king know about my great-grandfather?" Eric's face settled into lines of stone. "I can't predict Felipe's reaction if he finds out, my lover. Bill and I are the only ones who have that knowledge now. It has to stay that way. Pg 46

So, Eric is saying that only he and Bill know she is great- granddaughter to the fairy prince Niall ?? Well, he must have been saying that he and Bill are the only vampires who know, because we know that others do know her relationship to Niall including Sam, Mr. Cataliades, Dinatha , Amelia and Jason .

As to her fairy blood:

She says in Definitely Dead "I didn't believe this wonderful fairy blood had done all that much for me, either. Maybe a few vampires had been a little more interested in me and friendly to me than they would have been otherwise, but I couldn't say that had been much of an advantage. In fact, many people would say the vampire attention had been a big negative factor in my life. I might be one of those people."

Question : But now who knows she is part Fae ?
Answer : Everyone ( almost)

Bill
I would imagine if Pam know from Andre in ATD then Bill learns then too.

Eric
"You have fairy blood," Eric said, as if his own lightbulb had just lit up. "That explains a lot." Dd

Pam
"I don't see that that makes any difference," Pam said, her voice curiously gentle. "Now that we know you have fairy blood, thanks to Andre, ATD

Quinn
And I would have gone on and on, if Quinn hadn't said, "I don't give a damn about fairies, myself." Any available room left in the kitchen vanished.DD

Amelia
"Maybe it's the fairy blood," Amelia said, staring at me thoughtfully.I shrugged ATD

Sophie-Anne &Andre
"I love the smell of fairy. Do you think she knows she has fairy blood?" he asked Sophie-Anne, while I was in the process of transferring my lipstick. "I what?" I hadn't heard him correctly, I was sure. "I have what?" "He has a nose for it," the queen said. "My Andre." She looked faintly proud. DD

Mr Cataliades & Dinatha
"Your great-grandfather has many enemies," Diantha said slowly and carefully DAG

Sandra Pelt & Barbara & Gordon Pelt
Her parents might have been within ear shot if not Sandra could have told them afterward DD

Colonel Flood
Colonel Flood knows Claudine and knows she has a relationship with Sookie

Jason
Jason find out about Niall in Book 9 "And one of those enemies," I said after I'd told him our family history, "is our half-human great-uncle, Fintan's brother, Dermot DAG

Sam
Sam has seen Sookie and her fairy cousin numerous times in the bar and both he and Alcide see Claudia save Sookie in FDTW were war.

Alcide / Tray
Both he and Alcide see Claudia save Sookie in FDTW were war.

Yes. I guess you've talked to Alcide?""Yeah. I'm not trying to get in your business, but it would have been better to hear all this from you directly. When you're here as my friend and Amelia's boyfriend, I tell you what I think I can without endangering you or Amelia. It never occurred to me that Niall's enemies would think of getting information through my roommate. DAG

Maybe
Peter Threadgill he may have known about Hadley and Sookie just by spying on Sophie-Anne

Rasul maybe heard at the cabin in DD

Though I remembered the vampire in Mississippi who'd told me he detected a trace of fairy blood in my veins

Sookie is told she has fairy blood

Book 6

"I love the smell of fairy. Do you think she knows she has fairy blood?" he asked Sophie-Anne, while I was in the process of transferring my lipstick. My head snapped back then. I stared right into his eyes, and he stared right back at me. He was still holding me, and I understood that he was ensuring I would smell like him and he would smell like me, as if we'd actually done the deed. He definitely wasn't up for the real thing, which was a relief. "I what?" I hadn't heard him correctly, I was sure. "I have what?" "He has a nose for it," the queen said. "My Andre." She looked faintly proud. "I was hanging around with my friend Claudine earlier in the day," I said. "She's a fairy. That's where the smell is coming from." I really must need to shower. "You permit?" Andre asked, and without waiting for an answer, he jabbed my wounded arm with a fingernail, right above the bandage.
""Yow!" I said in protest.
He let a little blood trickle onto his finger, and he put it in his mouth. He rolled it around, as if it were a sip of wine, and at last he said, "No, this smell of fairy is not from association. It's in your blood." Andre looked at me in a way that was meant to tell me that his words made it a done deal. "You have a little streak of fairy. Maybe your grandmother or your grandfather was half-fey?"
"I don't know anything about it," I said, knowing I sounded stupid, but not knowing what else to say. "If any of my grandparents were other than a hundred percent human, they didn't pass that information along."
"No, they wouldn't," the queen said, matter-of-factly. "Most humans of fairy descent hide the fact, because they don't really believe it. They prefer to think their parents are mad." She shrugged. Inexplicable! "But that blood would explain why you have supernatural suitors and not human admirers."

Niall and Sookie discuss if Jason has fae characteristics

Niall and Sookie bk 8

“I want to keep our relationship a secret,” he said. “I am so glad to know you finally, and I want to know you better.” He laid his hand against my cheek. “But I have powerful enemies, and I wouldn’t want them to think of harming you to get at me.”

I nodded. I understood. But it was kind of deflating to have a brand-new relative and be forbidden to talk about him. Niall’s hand left my cheek to drift down to my own hand.
“What about Jason?” I asked. “Are you gonna talk to him, too?”

“Jason,” he said, his face showing distaste. “Somehow the essential spark passed Jason by. I know he is made of the same material as you, but in him the blood has only shown itself in his ability to attract lovers, which after all is not much recommendation. He wouldn’t understand or appreciate our connection.”

Great-grandfather sounded pretty snotty when he said that. I started to say something in Jason’s defense, but then I closed my mouth. I had to admit to my most secret self that Niall was almost certainly right. Jason would be full of demands, and he would talk.
