Deborah Ann Woll: The lady is a vamp
Michele Manelis talks to True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll about the evolving story and how she's happy to be naked on screen.
'I got into acting for the art of it and if people decide that my body is not good enough to be on film, I'll go back to theatre' - Deborah Ann Woll.
"Oh, God, everything happens to Jess in this season," the 26-year-old Woll, says, enthusiastically. "Her story is a coming-of-age transformation from girl to woman/human to vampire. She's struggling with who she is personally and starting to embrace the vampire side of herself."
In contrast to most of the vampires, Jessica is endowed with feelings of empathy and remorse.

Who's giving the best performance in 'True Blood'? Right now, this woman is.
While Anna Paquin is larking through the season being a cheerfully aggressive Sookie sex toy, and the superb Irish actress Fiona Shaw is having a ball channeling a possessed palm-reader-turned-witch(es), the True Blood performance that just gets better — deeper, richer, wittier — belongs to Deborah Ann Woll as the ginger-haired, heart-on-her-bloody-sleeve Jessica Hamby.
In what’s shaping up as a surprisingly good True Blood season — surprising because the series is juggling scores of subplots and is eager to go over-the-top at the climax of nearly every scene — Woll is doing the teen vampire proud. In a Twilight world, it’s difficult to play an adolescent vamp for something more than heaving melodrama, but creator Alan Ball (who devised this character independently of Charlaine Harris’ source-novels) and Woll are collaborating to make Jessica a sympathetic character as well as a believably romantic, emotionally fragile, gratifyingly brave girl.

Babyvamp Jessica vlog : Hate to Say I Told You So
Do you ever get the sense that something big is about to happen to you? Like you might fall in love or fall out of love or you might fall through the cracks of the earth and disappear into it? Lodged in between layers of rock and dirt with feet pounding over your head so many miles away, it just sounds like a million muffled heart beats...? There’s no reason or explanation, it’s just a feeling you can’t shake and you can’t really make any sense of it. It’s kinda like the way I felt right after losing my virginity. Well, technically I’m always losing my virginity, but you know what I mean. The first time. I was walking around and my legs felt different, my arms looked different, older or longer or like they moved in new ways. And there was something in front of me, in my future, that just wasn’t there before. Maybe it’s because my blood is in another man now, or maybe it’s because I’m growing up and this is just another growing pain. Or maybe, just maybe, something really is gonna happen. And then I can say I told you so. I guess we’ll have to find out.Posted by " Dallas " at 3:19 PM 1 comments

True Blood’s Jessica explains her recent bad behavior: "Our goal is to torture you" interview by Meredith Woerner
This is our good friend Meredith talking to the stars...
It's no great secret actress Deborah Ann Woll's character Jessica is one of our favorite True Blood characters. Except for when she's running around on her boyfriend Hoyt! So when we caught Woll on camera, we had to ask "What are you thinking?"
On the red carpet for Entertainment Weekly's Comic-Con bash, we chatted with True Blood castmembers Woll and Kevin Alejandro (Jesus). Watch what they had to say about the future of their characters on this season's True Blood.
I think I speak for all True Blooders everywhere when I ask: What are you doing? What are you doing!

True Blood’s Deborah Ann Woll on Vampire Tears, Jason Stackhouse, and Her Real-Life Teen Rebellion
At the tender age of 17, True Blood's quasi-innocent vampire Jessica Hamby has studied up on carnal knowledge, killed a horny trucker, and attacked her boyfriend's mom. But this works out just fine for Deborah Ann Woll, the actress who plays her, who gets to live out all her unfulfilled adolescent angst. Vulture phoned Woll for more details on her character's season-four exploits, then got to the bottom of other pressing matters, such as her favorite flavor of blood and her policy on biting folks for a photo op.
Part of being a vampire is being loyal to your maker. How would you defend your character's maker, Bill Compton, who's become a jerky politician?
He's under incredible pressure. And he has some incredibly powerful people making decisions for him. I think Bill is as disappointed with that as we are. Bill is really alone now. He doesn't have a family except Jess, and I think it's really wonderful that this season they get to [bond] quite a bit. Because things aren't going so great with [her human boyfriend] Hoyt, [Bill] is all that she has.

Jessica writes on her blog about "Lafayette, Lovers and Leftovers"
So many of you - including Lisa Cheli, R.J., Andrew, and bite me - came up with the brilliant idea of microwavable dinners. Why didn’t I think of that?! Or more importantly… why didn’t HOYT think of that? katiln was right. Hoyt should understand how uncomfortable all this food stuff makes me and consider my feelings a little more. But still, there is one slight problem: Our microwave is where I heat

‘True Blood’ star: Bela Lugosi was the first sexy vampire
Baby vampire Jessica Hamby might not appear in any of Charlaine Harris‘ Sookie Stackhouse mystery novels, but there’s no question the character, as played by actress Deborah Ann Woll on HBO‘s vampire series “True Blood,” fits seamlessly into the multidimensional world show-runner Alan Ball has crafted from the work of the bestselling author. Playing the good Christian girl turned angsty adolescent vamp gives the USC grad (and self-professed horror fan) plenty to explore week to week. Woll recently spoke by phone to Hero Complex contributor Gina McIntyre about the upside of portraying an impulsive young woman struggling to find herself — who just happens to have a taste for human blood — and what fans can expect from the striking redhead in the series’ upcoming fourth season, which begins June 26.

Asked and Answered | Deborah Ann Woll
The young actress Deborah Ann Woll cut her teeth — err, fangs — as the innocent Christian turned insidious vampire Jessica Hamby on HBO’s “True Blood” (Season 4 starts in June). Woll, 26, hails from Brooklyn but currently lives in Los Angeles, where she recently completed filming on “Someday This Pain Will Be Useful To You,” a coming-of-age story based on a teenage novel of the same name by Peter Cameron. The Moment recently e-mailed Woll to talk work (vampires, snakes) and play (home improvement and carpentry).
