What does Anna listen to on the way to film True Blood every day ?
Are you as cool as Anna Paquin ?
I feel kind of stupid saying that music inspires me,” says Anna Paquin, during her morning commute to the set of HBO’s vampire drama True Blood, in which she stars as Sookie Stackhouse, a big-hearted waitress with a thing for the undead. “I love music, but when I try to narrow it down, to describe it, I feel dumb.” The 27-year-old Oscar winner recently acquired a new outlook on the power of the playlist. “I just learned to drive, and I’ve discovered the pleasure of good driving music,” she says, “especially now that I’m confident enough to have noise around me when I’m behind the wheel.” Fully immersed in True Blood’s third season, which premieres next month, Paquin admits that she has been too busy to search out new songs, so it’s helpful that Stephen Moyer—her real-life fiancé and love interest on the show—came into her life with a large music library. “A lot of the music I listen to comes from him,” she admits. “I think he has half of iTunes on his computer.”
Lady Gaga’s “Teeth.” I’m sure that everyone else on the planet jumped on the Lady Gaga bandwagon long ago, but I was just introduced to her music last month. She has this amazing voice and, honest to God, it sounds like this song was written about our TV show. It’s great workout music.
Marilyn Manson’s “The Beautiful People.” This one is a throwback to my sad, little goth-girl adolescence. It’s been on my playlist since I was 14, when I dyed my hair black and wore kneehigh Doc Martens. I went to a Marilyn Manson concert about two years ago, and there were no teenagers in the audience.
Radiohead’s “Talk Show Host.” This is embarrassing, because my taste in music hasn’t changed much since I was a kid. This was on the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, and it wasn’t on any of Radiohead’s albums at that point. Stephen and I got tickets for the Haiti benefit they did a few months back, so I finally got to see them in concert. It was a tiny, amazing gig. I’ve missed hearing them perform so many times that I’d stopped trying. I’d get tickets and then get a job far, far away, almost to the point where if I were superstitious about it, I’d have started buying Radiohead tickets just to get the jobs I really wanted.
Johnny Cash and June Carter’s “Jackson.” This was my theme song when I was auditioning for the role of Sookie. June Carter has a sassy Southern galtype
voice that my coach and I worked with to get Sookie’s accent just right. I love their banter at the beginning of the song, him saying naughty things and her being cute and flirty about it.
Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire.” I love bands that still make rock music.
Anna Nalick’s “Wreck of the Day.” She’s a singersongwriter in the vein of Aimee Mann, very sweet and slightly melancholic. When I’m trying to get into the mood for a scene, I’ll listen to a song like this. Sets are noisy places and if you’re trying to get into a less happy place, it’s good to have some way of tuning all that out. I usually put together a playlist of songs that make me cry, and this is one of them.
Mark Ronson’s “Toxic.” This is a cover of a Britney Spears song. Mark Ronson and Ol’ Dirty Bastard covering Britney is pretty funny.
Modest Mouse’s “Bukowski.” I have to plead complete idiocy because I’ve never actually read any Charles Bukowski. I may seem it, but I’m not particularly book-smart. I don’t sit around reading important philosophical texts. There’s a perception that if you’re not someone who smiles all the time, then you’re someone who sits around reading tortured literature. I’d rather ride my bike to the beach.
The Puppini Sisters’ “Crazy in Love (The Real Tuesday Weld Remix).” They’re an electrosinging trio, a throwback to the ’60s and they remixed the Beyoncé song. I was obsessed with this one for quite some time.
Fiona Apple’s “Parting Gift.” I’ve loved her for so many years. She’s an icon for sad-girl singer-songwriters everywhere. I don’t think you’re allowed to be a tortured teen, in the most on-the-nose pretentious way possible, without having listened to Fiona Apple. This song has interesting insight into relationships—but not the one I’m in right now.

True Blood vamp doing some reading ....
Most of you guys know that I don't post the paparazzi photos of every single actor that have ever appeared on True Blood. I just can't stand it but something caught my eye in some recent inane photos of these actors in their off time ...
Anyone know what book one of our favorite vamps is reading ??
My guess is that it might be a Euro paperback ( or even Swedish translation) version of " Pygmy "by Chuck Palahniuk ( of Fight Club fame)
If so, this is an " Are you as cool as Alexander Skarsgard moment ?"- Ha!

Charlaine Harris " Dead in the Family " Washington Post Interview
YOU CAN THANK a few people for the resurgence of vampires in pop culture: Stephenie Meyer, author of the "Twilight" series, and Charlaine Harris, author of the Southern Vampire Mysteries series that inspired HBO's "True Blood."
Even though Harris is a bestselling author and "True Blood" is the most-watched series on HBO since "The Sopranos," the Mississippian is refreshingly humble.
"Oh, honest to goodness, I am so sick of myself," Harris said. "I can't think of anything else anyone would want to hear me say. ... When I read that the fourth most popular new name for girls was Sookie, I just thought, 'OK, that's beyond the edge.' I was amazed, amazed."
Harris may not think anyone would want to hear more about her or Sookie, but millions of fans would disagree — especially since her latest novel in the series, "Dead in the Family," comes out May 4.
She'll discuss the book at the Borders in Baileys Crossroads, on May 6, and she spoke to Express about her plans for the rest of the series. (Unfortunately, she can't hook you up with hottie Alexander Skarsgard, who plays Eric on "True Blood." Heartbreak, I know.)

Penguin books interview with Charlaine Harris on Dead in the Family
We left Sookie in a pretty sad place at the end of Dead and Gone, and I think all your readers are hoping that she will pull through her awful experiences and come back as the same spunky telepath we all love. Does she get any time to recuperate in Dead in the Family? What's in store for Sookie in this book?
Sookie goes through her physical recuperation at the beginning of the book, and I think she's recovering mentally through the book. But of course, life and death keep happening around her. Bless her heart.
To whose family, or families, does the title of Dead in the Family refer? Any surprises?
I certainly hope there are a lot of surprises. There are several families included in the story; Bill's family, Eric's family, Sookie's family. I think some of the family members will startle the readers.
Amelia, Sookie's roommate, who thinks more of her powers as a witch than perhaps she should, has a lot of fans. Can you tell us anything about her future?
Amelia, as the beginning of the book makes clear, is returning to New Orleans to try to restart her life there. She's left too many loose ends to stay in Bon Temps. She'll recur in Sookie's life.

'True Blood' EXCLUSIVE! Bill's Maker, Lorena, Is Back, There's 'More Turbulence Between Them'
Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) is missing, last seen in the clutches of a gloved abductor with a bad strip of silver. Although the kidnapper's identity has yet to be revealed to viewers of the "True Blood" television series, fans of Charlaine Harris' "Sookie Stackhouse" novels are already looking at one suspect in particular — none other than Bill's very own maker, Lorena.
But don't expect to hear any confirmation from Mariana Klaveno, the talented actress who plays Lorena on the hit HBO series. All she'll say is that the naughty Lorena is indeed returning for the third season of "True Blood," set to premiere in June.
Hollywood Crush spoke with Mariana and learned a great deal about her character's future. Read all of the gory details after the jump!
While Mariana wouldn't say whether or not Lorena is involved in the kidnapping of Vampire Bill, she did confess that she'll have plenty of screen time with Stephen Moyer this season.
"Yes, we do spend a good deal of time together in season three," she told us. "I'm hoping that the fans will be a little bit surprised by it, because there will be some new dynamics in our relationship that are new and [have to deal] with that cliffhanger."
But that doesn't necessarily mean she'll be responsible for Bill's abduction, as Mariana informed us: "I think you'll see some sides of Lorena that will surprise you. She'll be in certain situations where you think she'll do something, and she will not [do what you expect]."

Wall Street Journal : ‘Dead in the Family’: How Charlaine Harris and HBO’s ‘True Blood’ Vampires Stack Up
Move over, Twi-hards. Today, “True Blood” fans get center stage as “Dead in the Family,” the tenth book in author Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire Series, hits bookstores.
Fans invested in “True Blood” protagonist Sookie Stackhouse’s love life have been eagerly awaiting the new title since 2009’s “Dead and Gone” ended on a romantic cliffhanger. Niall, Sookie’s fairy great-grandfather, told the telepathic barmaid that “the vampire is not a bad man, and he loves you.” But then gramps left the human world forever, before clarifying if he meant the blonde Eric Northman or the brunette Bill Compton. (One thing we know–Sookie will begin book 10 “officially” involved with hunky Nordic vamp Eric. In fact, the two have exchanged blood so often — usually to save the other’s life — they’re considered married by vampire law.)
