True Blood and Vampire Diaries stars tell us their favorite scary movies !

For True Blood'Rutina Wesley, her fear of spiders is nothing compared to being on set this past season.

“It was scary being on set with some of the animals,” said Wesley, who noted that ArachnophobiaFriday the 13th and Psycho gave her the creeps. “They were gentle as can be but just the fact that you’re on with hybrid wolves is a little scary.”

But what gives Wesley’s co-star Sam Trammell nightmares?

“Something like Paranormal I haven’t even seen the end of,” Trammell said. “That kind of thing is really scary so I watch it in pieces. I love Dario Argento. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is still horrifying to me because it’s so faux-documentary, it’s so scrappy, it’s horrifying.”

True Blood actress Kristin Bauer’s fears are slightly more realistic.

“When I had the fight scene with Stephen Moyer [Bill] I really just had to go for it and snarl and make guttural sounds that felt so ridiculous,” she said. “Every time they said cut, I said, “Really? Do I look ridiculous?’ That was the scariest day. Stephen helped me through it.”

Nina Dobrev, who plays two characters on The Vampire Diaries, says that’s nothing compared to her fear of blood.

“Ironically enough, I’m very squeamish when it comes to blood,” said Dobrev, who noted that The Ring and the Saw movies “terrify” her. “Even on set, there was a scene I had to do where I cut my wrist on camera and it took every little bit of energy and strength that I had because your veins are so exposed. Every person is so fragile and it’s so easy to get hurt, it just freaks me out.”

Her Vampire Diaries co-star Ian Somerhalder agrees with Featherston on Candyman.

“I don’t watch that much scary stuff now, but when I was a kid the Freddy Krueger movies and Candyman used to scare the s*** out of me,” he said. “We’re adults now and it still holds up.”

Queen Sophie Anne dances the "Time Warp" with a " jump to the left and then a step to the right"

Last night, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, producer Lou Adler called in a few favors to get stars like Jack Nicholson, Danny DeVito, Evan Rachel Wood, Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, George Lopez, and Jorge Garcia (along with original cast members Barry Bostwick and Tim Curry) to perform in an all-star, Kenny Ortega–directed tribute to Rocky to benefit Paul Newman's Painted Turtle charity, which provides a camp for seriously ill children. After the show, we spoke with True Blood star Wood, who told us that her casting as Magenta in the Rocky tribute was something of a coincidence: "This was going to be my costume for Halloween, and then they asked me to do this," she said. "I can't believe this is my real hair."

But when will she get back to work on True Blood? we asked. "We're filming again in November, so I'm going to be back," she said. "It's one of the most fun shows I've ever worked on. I just want to know what happens." Then: "That set is just a love fest," said Wood, who last year was rumored to be seeing co-star Alexander Skarsgard. "I've even been there myself, so there you go. I did date one of the cast members already, so I'm done."

Still, she's not ruling anything out on the set of her next movie, George Clooney's Ides of March: "It's going to be amazing," she told us. "We're going to start shooting in February. My character gets herself into a bit of a predicament with a politician, who's played by Ryan Gosling, so I'm very excited. I've had a total crush on him forever."

Vampire Sex !

Ladies and gentlemen of consenting age, an announcement: Traditional forms of lovemaking are out. Vampire sex is in.

From television (HBO's "True Blood," The CW's "Vampire Diaries," ABC's "The Gates") and movies (the oh-so-profitable "Twilight" series) to literature (Google "vampire books," get approximately 44,900,000 results), vampires and their signature form of sex have sunk their teeth into pop culture (apologies) in a major way.

It's even bled into (sorry, again) entities outside the vampire oeuvre. Ted Danson's character dabbled in vampire role-play in a recent episode of HBO's "Bored to Death;" Kanye West raps "I've gotta feel you, bite your neck to get

Ryan Kwanten cooks Italian Osso Bucco on MARTHA STEWART SHOW

Make no bones about it, Martha was smitten in the kitchen during today’s bone-themed edition of THE MARTHA STEWART SHOW (Hallmark Channel, 10 AM ET/9 AM C – same day encore airing, 2 PM ET/next day airing, 1 PM ET) when True Blood's steamy  star   stopped by to prepare a traditional Italian Osso Bucco dish. Although Ryan wasn’t stripped down to his usual bare bones today, as is the case on the set of his hit HBO series, he definitely sent chills up Martha’s spine!

While chatting about Ryan’s new bone-tingling movie, “Red Hill”, Martha repeatedly uttered “you look really good”, and well, he did! Ryan felt very comfortable, as if Martha had invited him over to her house for dinner. Once she got Ryan to take his hands out of his pockets, Martha assured him she’d have him do something that “makes your hands messy.” “Get me dirty!”- he fired back.

Soundbites from Ryan’s segment are pasted below and a photo of Martha and Ryan cooking Osso Bucco is attached. Credit: David Russell/The Martha Stewart Show.

True Blood Star Tackles Charles Manson Bio-Pic

Wow !

Ryan Kwanten is moving from "True Blood" to bloodthirsty.
The often shirtless actor is gearing up to play notorious killer Charles Manson in an upcoming film called "The Family," he said at the press day for his new film, "Red Hill," a nouveau spaghetti western set in the Australian high country.
Kwanten said the new role is part of the next phase in his career, one that allows him a bit more creative control over some of his future projects. In addition to playing the Helter Skelter psycho, Kwanten's upcoming projects include next year's satirical self-help book "The G Strategy" and a handful of acting jobs and upcoming hyphenate turns as actor-producer of the Australian film, "The Twenty-Something Survival Guide."

Interviewed: True Blood's Stephen Moyer

Set in the near future in a fictional Louisiana town called Bon Temps, True Blood is a sexy, romantic and gloriously Gothic world where vampires – not to mention werewolves, shapeshifters and telepaths – mix freely with humans. Moyer plays 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton who falls for a waitress, Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin).

In True Blood, vampires have emerged from the shadows thanks to the invention of mass-produced, synthetic blood, which means that they no longer need to prey on humans for their fix. Although for some, the lure of true blood is too hard to resist.
The series was created by Alan Ball and is based on the best-selling novels by Charlaine Harris. Moyer credits Ball, an Oscar winner for American Beauty who also created the highly acclaimed Six Feet Under, and his team of writers with making the very best cutting edge television that stands alongside great US shows such as Breaking Bad and Mad Men.

Interview with the vampires : The Salvatore brothers from Vampire Diaries

Nice little interview from Miami Herald with my favorite vampire brothers best line at the end when asked about who they are dating from Ian "

I tend not to discuss my personal life either because it's not really addressed that much. I don't think people care."
In case you haven't notice,  I DO NOT post photos of True Blood actors as they come out of drugstores, shops, try to eat lunch or go out with their families and friends . I hate this kind of stalker, gawker paparazzi and I won't be part of it. I'm happy to post any press event thing they attend but following them around day and night in their private lives is just awful and this blog won't post it. I believe we bloggers posting these photos only encourages this crazy intrusive TMZ kind of stuff.

Interview with the vampires

Edward who? When it comes to sexy vampires, the Twilight hunk has nothing on The Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, who paid a visit to Miami recently for a meet and greet at The Shops at Sunset Place.
No blood was spilled at the autograph signing, though the vampire sighting left some a little tone deaf. Hundreds of screaming girls attended the event for a chance to snap a pic of the Salvatore brothers. One lucky gal was even kissed on the hand by Somerhalder, and yes, more screams ensued.
We chatted with the hotties before they took the stage for a Q&A with fans. Not only are these two actors easy on the eye, they're also playful and funny.
How has life changed since you've been on the show?
Paul: I can't sum up into a short enough answer for you. But in one word, I'd have to say very surreal, in a good way.

Charlaine Harris book and blog October 2010

Charlaine returns to blogging

 Books of the Week

  • City of Ghosts, Stacia Kane
  • Grave Witch, Kalayna Price
  • The Exile: An Outlander Graphic Novel, Diana Gabaldon
I read more than those books this week. That’s not always the case, but often it is. I don’t review books I found less than memorable or books I found downright bad, and from time to time I feel compelled to remind you of that. If I do mention a book, it’s like putting a stamp on it that says: IN MY OPINION, THIS BOOK IS NOT A WASTE OF YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY.
I’ve talked about Stacia Kane’s “Downside” books here before, and the most recent, City of Ghosts, is the third continuance of the adventures of Chess (Cesaria), a debunking witch in a society where the church (not the Christian church) is the dominating factor. In fact, it’s the government. Though Chess hardly toes the church line – she is a drug addict, which the church condemns – she is touchingly determined to try to do good and to avoid killing people. She is also in love with a man who despises her, at least in part. Does this make the books sound challenging? In some respects, yes, but the character has grown with every book. I find that every now and then I’d like a more comprehensive explanation of some of the systems operating in Chess’s world, but for the most part I’ve found this series very well written and the world incredibly vivid.
Kalayna Price is new to me, and I am only a third of the way through Grave Witch. Alex Craft, Price’s heroine, is a down-on-her-luck magic P.I., who needs a job in the worst possible way. She’s also the daughter of a very high-up politician, though the media haven’t discovered this . . . which, frankly, I find unbelievable. However, Alex is a likeable and capable grave witch, and the plot is unfolding in an unexpected way.

You wouldn’t think the plot of Outlander could be condensed so neatly into a graphic novel, but it has been. The Exile put the some of the plot that we only learn about later into a linear arrangement, which made the story seem new! And the drawing is really interesting. Clair’s bosom does seem to change sizes, as does Jamie’s jawline, but I enjoyed every page. A lot of fun for fans of the series . . . and who isn’t?
