True Blood: Casting Werewolf Alcide and Psycho Ex-Girlfriend

We've been hearing about a bunch of new characters coming on board for the third season of True Blood but so far, only Tony winner Denis O'Hare has been cast to play Russell Edgington, the King of Mississippi. Now Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello reports that casting is underway for Werewolf Alcide, who debuted in the third Sookie novel Club Dead and will be prominently appearing on the new season of the HBO series, and his psycho ex-girlfriend Debbie Pelt.

While the specifics about Werewolf Alcide have not been disclosed, the casting people behind True Blood have made it known that Debbie Pelt would be played by a 20 to 30 something knockout and is described as "sporty and spiteful, with black hair."

Off the top of my head, I think that Shannyn Sossamon, Alyssa Milano, Sarah Brown or Milla Jovovich would be plausible fillers for the character of Debbie, whom True Blood creator Alan Ball describes as "bad news." To refresh your memory, Sossamon is known for her role as Coraline on Moonlight, Milano appeared as Phoebe Halliwell on Charmed and most recently as Billie on My Name is Earl, Brown currently plays Claudia Zacchara on ABC soap General Hospital and Jovovich is popularly known as Alice in the Resident Evil movies.

Speaking of Sossamon, wouldn't it be great if Alex O'Loughlin was cast as Werewolf Alcide? I highly doubt that he'll be available though since he's currently starring on the CBS medical drama Three Rivers. I guess a little Moonlight reunion is just wishful thinking so I shouldn't even be hoping that Jason Dohring would get the part either.

What are your thoughts on Werewolf Alcide and Debbie Pelt? Do you have any suggestions on which actor to cast?

I'd like to see Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Alcide.

I put my two cents in at EW. But for the record, I'd like to state it here...

Alcide - Aidan Turner from Being Human (a show I would have never found if it wasn't for a certain blog!)
Debbie Pelt - Fairuza Balk - can any woman play ferocious and nuts (without a trace of hipster sullenness) as beautifully as her?

Everyone keeps saying JDM for Alcide. He's way too old for the part. Alcide is in his late 20's, early 30's and starts out being a big hulking fresh faced guy. JDM would be more appropriate as Calvin Norris being that he is 43 years old.

I think Alyssa Milano would make a
fine Debbie Pelt,as for Alcide i don't know,but Alex O'Loughlin would
be good for True Blood but as we know
he is already in Three Rivers,if that
doesn't make it maybe they can get
him on the show,love him.

Cristián de la Fuente. He plays the boyfriend on In Plain Sight on USA. He is quite gorgeous and big. The only problem would be the accent. I don't know if he can lose it or if its even real. And, of course, he would need a northern Louisiana accent since Alcide lived there all his life.

To me, Aidan Turner doesn't have the right features, Gaspard Ulliel is too femnine looking, and Alex O'Loughlin? Well, I don't think he fits the description of Alcide either. I've always pictured him as very rough and masculine. JDM is the closest I've seen someone say.

I think a good Debbie Pelt would be Angie Harmon. She can be hard, but she's really pretty too.

I just thought of another Debbie
Pelt would be Rose Mcgowen from
Charmed also.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan could play Alcide's father, just like he played Sam and Dean's father on Supernatural. He is too old.

How about Rudy Reyes from Gen Kill? He's big and good-looking.

I didn't mean Alex O'Loughlin as
Alcide just that he should be on the
show.

Alcide can't look manicured, he needs a ruff exterior, JDM or Gerald Butler.

You can get rid of smooth - just grow some scruff and shaggy hair. Though to be honest, I think Alcide, while a big rough guy, was usually clean-shaven and wore his hair short, though it was a bit unruly.

You can't get rid of too old quite so easily.

Although most people can grow a beard to look "scruffy" I feel that the person who play Alcide needs to be someone who is a bit rough on the inside as well. I've heard talks about JDM playing the role, but there's also another guy who I've never heard of named Henry Cavill. Looks like he could probably pull it off as well.
