True Blood’ Costumer Shares Items Characters Can’t Live Without

Sookie’s Daisy Duke shorts. Lafayette’s do-rags. Jason’s 501’s and Frye boots. Thanks to the subtle work of ‘True Blood‘ costumer Audrey Fisher (’That 70’s Show,’ ‘Milk‘), these pieces have become synonymous with the characters who don them, expressing a visual mood often more powerful than the words uttered by the stars themselves.
To conjure up the sexy stickiness of the show’s Louisiana bayou setting, Fisher says her style guideline is simple: “I try to show as much skin as possible.
“We try to create a sense of heat with the costumes by making them skimpier and keeping it very light-weight. That’s always a goal: to think hot, hot.”

True Blood’s Ryan Kwanten on Playing Dumb-Yet-Lovable Jason Stackhouse

When we last saw him, Jason Stackhouse, as played by Australian actor Ryan Kwanten, was in a bit of a bind. He'd just killed Eggs, Tara's boyfriend-slash-possessed-by-the-devil buddy, and even though his pal Andy Bellefleur‎ stepped in to take the blame, Stackhouse was surely headed for some (more) trouble. Kwanten, who got his start on the Australian soap opera Home and Away, excels at playing the dumb-yet-lovable Stackhouse and was psyched about the story line. "That was quite an interesting place to start a season — with the fact that I’ve just killed a man and then trying to deal with that," he told us yesterday. We chatted with him about what's in store for Jason, playing those crazy sex scenes, and perfecting his Louisiana accent.
How much of the new season have you seen?
We had our premiere last night and they showed the first two episodes. I think it was probably the strongest start to a season that we’ve had, so it was really nice to see that. The first episode is pretty action heavy, and I thought the second one was slightly more emotional-driven. But I think just with the layers they’ve created in the first two seasons, they’ve wasted no time in getting back up to speed.

True Blood’s Bloody iPhone Ad

In anticipation of the premiere of season 3 of HBO’s “True Blood” this Sunday, mobile marketing specialists Medialets and media network PHD have launched a very visual – and tactile – promotion for Variety.com and Flixster’s iPhone apps. Tapping anywhere on the screen on which the “ad” appears will generate bloody fingerprints, as well as a stream of blood – followed by the series-appropriate invitation to “do bad things”. Viewers are then invited to view the trailer for the new season. A video of the ad in action is available on YouTube.
We found this to be a very cool, highly relevant ad that capitalizes on both the visual and tactile experience offered by the iPhone, the type of entertainment-specific content that users might seek on Variety and Flixster, as well as the series’ subject matter and tone. Plus, we’re excited for Sunday’s premiere.

True Blood: Rutina Wesley tells us who Tara's Ideal Man would be

As Sookie Stackhouse’s best friend and confidant, Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley), has seen more than her fair share of misfortune and heartbreak on True Blood. Bouncing from one dysfunctional relationship to the next, Tara is the hard-luck mortal in the seemingly sleepy town full of the supernatural.
Whether it’s her alcoholic mother or a maenad-possessed boyfriend with a name better suited for a breakfast menu, every time it looks like that Tara is about to catch a break, the break catches her.
Season 3 of HBO’s True Blood ended with the love of Tara’s life being gunned down by none other than the brother of her best friend, and Wesley admits that her character’s woes are far from over. “I think that she’s going to be struggling this season, grieving and trying to find her feet and her identity, and how she fits into this world.” Wesley tells PEOPLE. “It’s going to be interesting to see her journey … There are going to be a lot of ups and downs for Tara this season.”

28 Songs That Should Have Been On the Twilight: ( or Maybe a True Blood ?) Soundtrack

The Twilight Saga's soundtracks have been mostly impressive. You can say what you want about the movies sucking it hardcore (vampires playing baseball, really?), but the soundtracks feature some surprisingly good tracks from bands like Fanfarlo, Band of Horses, Justin Vernon, and Florence and the Machine.

Good indie bands right? Well, that's great, but we think they missed a few.

In fact, we think they missed about 28 songs that could have kicked werewolf ass on the best-selling-OMG!-inducing soundtrack ever.

Read the full 28-song heavy list after the jump...

1. TV on the Radio - "Wolf Like Me"
2. Les Savy Fav - "What Would Wolves Do?"
3. Smashing Pumpkins - "Bullet With Butterfly Wings"
4. Def Leppard - "Love Bites"
5. Concrete Blonde - "Bloodletting (The Vampire Song)"
6. 30 Rock/Tracy Morgan - "Werewolf Bar Mitzvah"
7. Bauhaus - "Bela Lugosi's Dead"
8. The Misfits - "Vampira"
9. Roky Erickson - "Night of the Vampire"

  • Ruby Jean Reynolds (Alfre Woodard): Lafayette's mother.
