Driving While Undead: new Zombie TV show on MTV Mondays

MTV’s “Death Valley,” a hyperbolically gory but otherwise innocuous new comedy-horror series about an outbreak of zombieism, vampirism and werewolfism in the San Fernando Valley, is like a freeway pileup of current television trends.

In MTV's “Death Valley” series, a special police unit in the San Fernando Valley deals with zombies, vampires and werewolves.

It appears to be the first scripted television series from Liquid Theory, a production company experienced in cable reality and awards shows and Internet serials, and it came to life more like a Web series than a traditional TV show. A trailer made by Spider One, a musician and host of an online show at FearNet.com, was expanded into a 12-minute pilot with the help of some FearNet colleagues before being turned into a 30-minute sitcom.
