True Blood's Godric has been cast and he's perfect!

this was my post from may

Wow, now I am as excited about this-almost as excited as I was about the 'Beyond here lies nothing' 2nd promotional video I posted last night ;-)

I just have to say of the hundreds and hundreds of characters we meet in Charlaine Harris's Sookieverse, Godric ( Godfrey) is one of THE most fascinating to me ...

The casting call from February read:

Casting call for episode 2.05. No Episode title yet and filming will be between the end of Feb and early march.

[GODRIC]
Over two thousand years old but looks 15, he is an ancient Vampire. Small in stature and youthful appearing, but able to project intense power and wisdom. Can have an accent from anywhere. Must be 18 or emancipated

Godric will be played by Allan Hyde who is a 19 year old accomplished Danish actor.

Here is his IMDb page

The character Godric is described in Living Dead in Dallas as:

An ancient teenager. He was blond and shirtless, and his arms and chest were covered with blue tattoos.

In human years, he would've been about sixteen when he'd been made vampire. There was no telling how many years ago that had been. He must be older than Stan, older than Isabel. His English was clear, but heavily accented. I had no idea what kind of accent it was.Maybe his original language was not even spoken anymore. What a lonely feeling that would be.

He has pale blue eyes and is a child killer.

Godric...this is all I have to say

Our Top Five Gripes About True Blood from NY Magazine

    From NY Magazine

We will be the first to admit that the glories of HBO's True Blood are many; after we worked our way through the first few bumpy episodes of the show's debut season, we quickly became addicted to the many charms of Alan Ball's soapy dramedy. But even though our allegiance is strong, we can't help but admit that there are a few things about the program that rankle us on a near weekly basis. As fans, we do our best to push these concerns to the side, but after nineteen episodes, we couldn't hold them in any longer.

    1. Bill deserves a hotter maker. The women on True Blood are a mixed bag. The majority fall just short of knockout — like the B versions of the A-list. But the most egregious is Mariana Klaveno, who plays Lorena, the vampire who made Bill. Surely in all of Hollywood there was a more seductive actress to play a woman who says, among other things: "People would die to be with me for one night." Where are the female equivalents of Bill and Eric on this show?

I know they will want to here your opinions on their choices ? #4 is Hoyt and Jessica , really?

Stephen Moyer of HBO's 'True Blood' studies pace of Louisiana life

    from Times Picayune

Stephen Moyer worked with dialect coach Elizabeth Himelstein to craft his accent for "True Blood," a more formal take (befitting a 173-year-old vampire) on the slang-y, slippery accents employed by some of the other characters.

But his two visits to Louisiana for location production - Clinton, La., last month; the Shreveport area for the show's first season - have informed Moyer's overall approach to being Bill Compton as much as vowel-sound drills.

"When we went down to shoot the stuff for the pilot last year and we hit Shreveport ... it was great for me, it was a real opportunity to see the south in a way that I had only ever imagined it -- the landscape and how enormous it is, and how lush," Moyer said during a break in production on the Clinton episodes. "It's very English in its lushness. When you come into London, you're expecting this grey concrete thing, but it's green predominately, and it's the same here.

HBO's chillingly good series 'True Blood' comes to Louisiana, and the cast and crew taste and feel the real thing

    from the Times Picayune [Nola.com]

CLINTON -- It was a characteristically steamy July day, and the grounds surrounding the East Feliciana Parish Courthouse were strewn with trash and clothing as if the town's residents had gone crazy from the heat.

Jeans and blouses in the trees. Lingerie draped on the stone Confederate officer stationed in front of the same courthouse that previously served, appropriately enough, as a location setting for the 1958 film "The Long Hot Summer." "Bacchus Rocks" graffiti scrawled on the base of the 1909 United Daughters of the Confederacy statue.

The lascivious litter was the work of spell-casting party girl Maryann Forrester, a character in the hit HBO vampire drama "True Blood," which came to the Clinton area late in its second season for several days of location shooting.

"Sorry, people of Clinton," said Adam Davidson, director of the episode for which the streets of Clinton had been strategically messed up. "Forgive us."

    Not a problem.

Clinton was officially delighted to become the physical manifestation of Bon Temps, the show's fictional small-town Louisiana setting, and not just for the midsummer entertainment the production provided townsfolk, several dozen of whom toted lawn chairs to watch the action from off-camera.

Baton Rouge was the production base for the long-weekend shoot, so much of the food-, beverage- and hotel-room budget for the cast and crew of about 110 wasn't spent in Clinton. But the town did well, and may do very well in the future, by "True Blood."

During filming, traffic had to be routed around Clinton's downtown, creating a minor nuisance for cross-parish travelers, but more than 50 Louisiana residents were employed by the show, including Audrey Faciane, executive director of the parish's Chamber of Commerce and a parish tourism commissioner, who got a small part as one of the Bon Temps residents turned crazy by Maryann's mood magic

is a pretty comprehensive resource on True Blood with wall to wall coverage. We particularly like the posts with the subtitles of every episode of season 2.

    This was my response:

Thanks Daemonstv for mentioning the blog! I gotta say I think of Loving True Blood in Dallas as mainly a Sookie Stackhouse book site but I do enjoy covering the True Blood series.

We really aren't and don't want to be a slick Hollywood Fan site.

I'm also really 2 hours from Bon Temps (we make frequent trips to NW Louisiana with fans and friends) and of course, Dallas is THE fictional home for True Blood for Season 2 - so I hope we provide some fun and funky local flair and flavor. Click on 'Dallas' or 'Louisiana' in topics section of the blog to see what great local stuff we have!

I would highly recommend listening to my fan oriented Blogtalk radio shows (there are 30 past podcasts on blog and iTunes)and this season I am doing a Sunday night live post True Blood call-in blogtalk show called 'Talk Blood' -it's a riotous call-in /chat radio show ( 15 minutes after the show airs) that I co-host with my friend, the Twitter Sookie @SookieBonTemps.

The things that I love about LTBiD blog:

    * True Blood Music Video of the Day (I've posted a new one every day for the past 250 days )
    * True Blood/ Sookie Recipes, 35 and counting, I have some of the most fantastic recipes for foods mentioned in the Sookie Stackhouse books and True Blood TV show ( some are really from Charlaine Harris, the series author)
    * Go Ask Dallas - I answer questions from blog fans, I recently helped the Arkansas Gazette do a big article on the building used this season as FotS, headquarters, SkyRose chapel whose architect and designer is a from Arkansas. (Which is also where Charlaine lives)

Blood Copy : A Tale of two fangs

    wow...from Blood Copy

    This is a true story.*

There’s this guy, let’s call him Ted. Ted’s parents were divorced when he was very young, and he lived with his father, rarely seeing his mother at first, and eventually not at all. Perhaps because of this upbringing, Ted had spent his life drifting through unhealthy relationships, and recently a particularly rough break up had left him with low spirits and a strong bought of insomnia. While up watching late night television he saw an ad for a phone chat line offering the chance to speak with a real vampire. At first he laughed it off, but ended up seeing it again the next night. And the next. Finally, curiosity overwhelmed him and he called.

Ted ended up speaking with a woman, Annie, who was eager to tell him about the “pleasures of the undead.” However, Ted found himself more curious about vampires in general than any salacious activities they could offer. She explained this was against the rules, but he persisted. Figuring he was the one paying for the call, she agreed to only offer minor details about herself. Taste in music, interest in modern dance, a love of swimming under the moonlight. Ted ended up speaking with her nearly until dawn, at which point her need to sleep (and the max on his credit card) forced the conversation to come to an end.

Ted enjoyed it so much he called the next night. This time Annie made a request. She couldn’t remember what the sun looked like. Ted recalled his most memorable visions of the sun rising and setting. He described the majestic colors, the feeling of awesome power standing beneath it. Again they spoke late into the night, and by now Ted had decided to request she meet him in person. She refused, and asked him not to call again.

Ted honored her wishes, but couldn’t stop thinking about her nonetheless. He couldn’t say just why, but he felt something while he spoke with her. Something that was lacking through much of his life. A connection.

Then, about a week later, Annie called him. She hadn’t been able to stop thinking about him either. She wanted to meet. Ted felt butterflies on the way over. Almost like he was a kid again going on his first date. He arrived at the location and eagerly awaited her to join him. After a few moments, Annie arrived, looking stunning. Ted rose and met her gaze.

    His mother stood before him.

*Okay, it’s not a true story. But then again, who’s to say it hasn’t happened?

Loving True Blood in Dallas 'TB Music Video of the Day' celebrates 250 videos

Do you love True Blood and love music videos ?

Do you want to see the best TB videos set to the best music ?
I have started every single day since last October ( 2008 ) with a music video -
You can see them all here

A partial list is here ( it needs updating-sorry )

The newly engaged Anna Paquin walking her dogs...

    From Petsugar.com.
    * his name is Banjo and he's a rescued Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog.
The Catahoulas are important in the Sookie books, I wrote about them here In the books Terry has Catahoulas and even breeds them -Sookie almost takes a puppy in one of the short stories.
Guess she has one now ....

When she's not frolicking around with dolphins and seals, Anna Paquin knows that a good walk is essential to a dog's health. The True Blood star was spotted yesterday taking a stroll through the streets of Santa Monica with her two best furry friends. Although I can see that one of her four-legged pals is a Border Collie, I'm having quite the time trying to place the breed of the brown companion. Besides keeping the dogs in good shape with long walks, Anna practices good owner behavior by keeping poop bags handy with a black Bon Ton dispenser.
