Alexander Skarsgard is LA Times' Millennium Man

Alexander Skarsgard is heralded as the “Millennium Man” in the latest issue of the LA Times Magazine.

The 33-year-old True Blood actor talked about his ego-free personality. He shared, “I’m not a ‘Hollywood’ actor. I am a social guy, but I’m not one of those actors who will show up to a shoot with 15 agents and managers and publicists. An entourage like that just makes me uncomfortable.”

True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard: 'Fame scared me'

The True Blood vampire reveals all about the show as well as fame, nudity and Lady Gaga.

What’s the best thing about playing Eric, the 1000-year-old Viking vampire in True Blood?
"As an actor, the last thing I want to play is a typical handsome leading man. It’s always great when you play a complicated character like Eric."

So there’s more to him than just biting necks?
"In the first series, people thought he was just a bad guy, but there’s a lot more to him than meets the eye. We’re now seeing his loyal, caring and sensitive side. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still the same old Eric – there’s just more to him than being an evil vampire."

Why do you think True Blood is so successful?
"It’s over-the-top, wild, sexy and funny. Viewers can also look at the vampires and draw parallels with our society in terms of alienation and prejudice."

Do you have a problem with the show’s sex and violence?
"It’s pretty full-on and very graphic and gory, but sex and violence are always something that attracts an audience. I don’t have any problems with getting naked."

Q&A with True Blood author Charlaine Harris

AMERICAN author Charlaine Harris is best known for vampires-in-the-deep-south True Blood novels featuring heroine Sookie Stackhouse. On Wednesday, she's signing books in Nottingham.

What inspired you to start writing vampire/supernatural stories? Is the deep south really that spooky or did you grow up watching Hammer Horror films?

I had reached a crossroads in my career, and decided to write something different. It seemed interesting to write about a young woman who was dating a vampire. Any region of the US can seem creepy, I'm sure; I just specialise in the south.

You've created a world of "supes" although the fairies have gone. (I'll miss 'em, I love the way you gave them Irish names). Are there any new beings to come?

In the next book there's an incidental character who's of another race. And there are still some fairies hanging around. Hope you enjoy them.

What did you think of the True Blood TV version and were you able to have any input in the series? (They did seem to go overboard on the sex.)

Tim Burton next film will be 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter'

Maybe you'll see the new Johnny Depp / Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland this weekend ?

From Zap2it

"Alice in Wonderland" is predicted to do huge "Avatar"-like box office this weekend. So how will director Tim Burton follow up his latest smash hit?

His next film will reportedly be "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter."

Our first question? Is there room for Johnny Depp?

Burton will produce the film based on Seth Grahame-Smith's mash-up novel by the same name and the author will also write the script. The publisher, Hachette Book Group. has just put a mock trailer version on YouTube.

Stephen Moyer talks wolves

Very cool - Many of you may remember that Dean the dog, the possum and Tina the cat all came from Boone's Animal http://www.boonesanimals.com actors from Los Angeles.

Their website doesn't show that they have wolf actors but here are a couple of other animal acting groups that show wolf pack actors. One of these might be providing the wolves for next years True Blood. How gorgeous they are...

Amazing Animals

We're a close knit family of Timber Wolves named Nova, Sierra, Dakota, Glacier, and Timber. Some people ask us why we have such great manners and social skills...well, we were raised by a pack of humans! Whether you want to practice your airbrush skills painting us howling at a full moon or place us in an Academy Award nominated feature film like Sean Penn's Into the Wild, we're the wolves for the job. We love being together, running in the open, long walks, and gazing into motion picture or HD cameras. Don't be fooled by hybrids or wolf look-a-likes, we're the real deal, as you can see in any of these fun projects we've worked on: The Tonight Show with Jay Leno My Super Sweet 16 Eco-Skin Clothing Nova starred in a History Channel special on were-wolves./

Animal Actors

We have a wonderful pack of wolves. Here are just some of their credits: Never Cry Wolf, LadyHawk, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Wolf, Road to Wellsville, Several Jungle Books, Out on a Limb, Frightnight, Clan of the Cave Bear, The Kindred, Peaceable Kingdom, Bring Em Back Alive, Manimal, Fantasy Island, Hulk, Mountain Family Robinson, Aviator, Kelly, Sea Gypsies, Starman, Shadow Chasers, Lucan, The Phoenix, Wizards, Wolf Boy, Quest For Fire, Phantom, Fire and Ice, Hambone and Hillie, House of Frankenstein, Panasonic commercial and Craftsman Tool commercial.

Kevin Alejandro is gearing up for True Blood's season 3

Kevin Alejandro, the actor playing Lafayette's new love interest, is out doing the tour in support of True Blood, and his other show SouthLAnd. You can check out a pretty cool video of him here, but feel free to skip to the 2:20 mark. Before that, it's all SouthLAnd info.
And if you are somehow not sure who Kevin Alejandro is yet--and believe me, it's going to be a temporary state--you can check him out in his first HBO appearance. This one was on Big Love a few seasons back.

Alexander Skarsgård film, “13″ to premiere in Texas

SXSW will present the world premiere of Géla Babluani’s 13, a remake of Babluani’s 2005 French film 13 Tzameti. Part of the film festival’s SX Fantastic midnight section — which is programmed by Tim League, founder of Austin’s annual genre-film blowout Fantastic Fest — 13 will screen at midnight March 13 at the Alamo South Lamar Theater.

From the 13 synopsis: “The thriller follows the story of Vince, who unwittingly becomes involved in a degenerate, clandestine world of mental chaos behind closed doors.” The new movie stars Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Ben Gazzara and Alexander Skarsgard.

Do you want a free copy of the next Sookie book, Dead in the Family 2 months early ???

Then here are two chances to win an ARC ( Advanced Reader Copy ) of the new Sookie book, Dead in the Family

This is from the amazing author, Suzanne McLeod is sponsoring
this fantastic contest!

Is that y'all screaming saying 'TELL ME MORE' ??? *g* Then here's what you have to do ...

Charlaine is coming to the UK for a short tour [details here] and yours truly is going to have the honour of interviewing her on the 9th March before her London talk and signing event.** Yay! The interview will be videoed and will be posted at a later date on the Gollancz website for all to watch. Double Yay! :-)

Now where there's an interview, there needs to be questions, and who better to ask them than my fellow Charlaine/Sookie Fans :-).

So, to enter to win an ARC of Dead in the Family, leave me a comment stating what question/or questions [max 5 per person/comment] you would like me to ask Charlaine about her Southern Vampire books on your behalf, including any questions you might want to ask about her new book, Dead in the Family. ARC 1.

Okay, now here's the rules ...

1 comment which must include at least one question, up to a max of 5 questions in that one comment, and only one comment per person - please leave your name [real or cyber] and place - e.g, Sarah or Snookies from Manchester - so if your question is the winner I can tell Charlaine who the question is from :-) = 1 entry

Comments on this LJ post are disabled - please leave questions at my blog here
http://suzannemcleod.blogspot.com/2010/03/win-arc-dead-in-family-charlaine-harris.html

Help spread the news about the contest with a mention of the giveaway on your blog/live journal/myspace/facebook/twitter#1/etc - Each link = 1 entry.

Email the link/links to the mention to: contest [at] spellcrackers [dot] com - [please replace the [a] with @ and [dot] with . as per usual :-) ] Do not post links in the comments section. This is VERY IMPORTANT - any links posted into the comments section will be deleted and will not count as an entry. Only Emailed links will count#2. All I want in the comments are questions for Charlaine please - anything else will just be confusing for my meager organisational abilities, sorry.

Contest is open to all, and open internationally. Contest closes 5 pm Sunday 7th March UK time.

The winning question will be chosen by Gollancz and myself. The prize will be ARC 1 of Dead in the Family. Our decision will be final. Please remember that Charlaine might not answer the winning question if she feels it could be spoiler'ish.

There will also be a random draw from all the entries/links via Random.org and that person will also win an ARC of Dead in the Family. ***ARC 2.

Winners will be announced here on my blog after 10th March. If prizes are not claimed within 7 days, then new winners will be redrawn by Random.org.

ARCs are for personal use only - not to be re-sold.

Any and all questions could be asked of Charlaine, not just the winning one. If your question is not the winning one, but is used as well, this will count as an extra entry in the random draw.

So, not only do you get a chance to win the newest fabulous Sookie book and read it before anyone else, but you also get a chance to have Charlaine answer those burning questions you've got about her Southern Vampire books. Now, what are you waiting for - go leave me your questions, and get posting!

'True Blood' Star Stephen Moyer Knew Anna Paquin Would Never Turn Down His Marriage Proposal

We're still excited about the forthcoming nuptials between real-life "True Blood" couple, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, but when we caught up with Stephen at Cosmopolitan 's 2010 Fun Fearless Males party in New York City on Monday night, we couldn't help but be a little perplexed about where in the world our invite to the wedding has been.

Alexander Skarsgard on his new found fame

Sorry Sookie! Vampire Bill is thirsty for Arlene and Jessica’s blood now too!

True Blood’s Stephen Moyer who plays vampire Bill Compton, has a new craving and it doesn’t involve the blood of his fiance/costar Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse). Stephen wants to bite into the veins of co-stars Carrie Preston and Deborah Ann Woll!

“I’ve always had a thing about Carrie Preston who plays Arlene. In that long red wig, she does things for me,” Stephen told us at Cosmopolitan magazine’s “Fun Fearless Male Awards” at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in NYC on Mar. 1 ,when we asked him whose blood he would like to suck besides Anna’s.

Stephen Moyer Misses Scenes with Anna Paquin

When it comes to fiancée Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer can’t get enough of a good thing.

“We haven’t been working together that much this year and I kind of miss that,” said Moyer, whose True Blood character Bill Compton has been separated from Paquin’s Sookie Stackhouse. “We met during the show, we met on camera, we met doing something that we love and that’s what we do. And I really miss her when Bill’s been taken [away].”

And it’s not just his significant other he misses – it’s the crew dynamic as well, he told reporters at Cosmopolitan’s Fun Fearless Male Awards in New York Monday night. “It’s quite fun too, when [the camera’s] not rolling,” he said. “I think the thing is because the crew and everybody grew up watching us, they’ve seen every move I’ve ever made on her.”
