True Blood HBO Canada

A slew of misfits - both human and supernatural - bring even more mayhem to Bon Temps, Louisiana, when the third season of HBO's hit series True Blood premieres on Sunday, June 13 at 9 p.m. ET/MT on HBO Canada, a multiplex channel of Astral Media's The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) and Corus Entertainment's Movie Central (Western Canada).

True Blood is executive produced and created by Oscar(R)- and Emmy(R)-winner Alan Ball, and is based on the best-selling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. The series follows the sexy, intense and wildly entertaining tale of a small Louisiana town where vampires live openly amongst their human counterparts, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood.

In the season two finale, Maryann's (Michelle Forbes) wild wedding party came to a bloody and violent end resulting in the long overdue demise of the feared maenad; the townspeople of Bon Temps finally snapped out of Maryann's dangerous trance; Queen Sophie-Anne (Evan Rachel Wood) issued a clear warning to Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) telling him to keep the lid on who's really dealing vampire blood to humans; and vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and Sookie Stackhouse's (Anna Paquin) love story seemed to come full circle with a romantic marriage proposal - that is, until Bill suddenly disappeared in the season finale cliff hanger.

True Blood also stars Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley, Nelsan Ellis, Carrie Preston, Deborah Ann Woll, Todd Lowe, Jim Parrack, William Sanderson and Chris Bauer. The first in a series of embeddable tease videos for the third season of True Blood is now available on HBOCanada.com at www.hbocanada.com/trueblood. These 20- to 30-second promotional spots, which offer a behind-the-scenes sneak peek at Season 3, will appear every Monday online for six consecutive weeks, as well as on the network.

The first spot, featuring Skarsgard as vampire Eric Northman, is now available at: http://hbocanada.com/trueblood/video.php.

Charlaine Harris talks about Dead in the Family -she talks "The Eric procedure " and regrets the blood bond

Interview

Q. We wanted to ask you about a couple of your upcoming short stories. Can you please tell us about your short stories coming up in Crimes by Moonlight and Death's Excellent Vacation?
CH. Sure, in Death's Excellent Vacation is a Sookie story and it's a Sookie and Pam road trip. So, it was just really a lot of fun to write. The story in Crimes by Moonlight is a Dahlia story. This will be the 4th or 5th story I've written about her. She's just itty bitty but totally marshal and I just love that.

Q: Can you also tell us a little bit about the novella that revolves around Quinn in the upcoming Sookie Companion book?
CH: It doesn't revolve around Quinn, but he's in it. It's about the wedding of Sam's brother. It's called "Small Town Wedding."

Anna Paquin comes out as bisexual in new PSA

Don't ask me ....??? 'We give a damn' web site has been taken down or has crashed.

If Anna Paquin’s sultry portrayal of virginal vamp lover in HBO’s hit series True Blood isn’t enough to make all the fanboys and girls adore her, the actress “came out” as bisexual in a recent gay rights PSA launched today.

Organizers say that Paquin’s announcement during the January 30th taping came as a surprise. In the clip (below), Paquin adorably states, “I’m Anna Paquin. I’m bisexual and I give a damn.” The PSA is part of the “Give a Damn” campaign, promoted by the True Colors Fund, which is an organization to promote awareness about gay, lesbian and transgender rights.

Paquin’s current gig also happens to be on a show that does a lot in and of itself to subtly promote gay rights. Creator Alan Ball is openly gay, and the show frequently veers into big honking allegory territory with its portrayal of vampire rights in America. (Some find it heavy handed, but fans tend to think it endearing.) A story arc during the last season saw two main characters discussing a trip to Vermont to marry, as human/vampire marriages were not permitted in the rest of the country. (And the opening sequence famously features a sign that reads “God Hates Fangs.”)

Paquin is currently engaged to True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer, who fans will know as Vampire Bill.

Stephenie Meyer's new vampire book will benefit the Red Cross

When Stephenie Meyer published "Breaking Dawn," it brought to an end her wildly popular "Twilight" vampire saga. So any new book in the pantheon is both unexpected and welcome. On Tuesday, fans were thrilled to learn that "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner," a new novella, will be available in June.

"Her story is a nice complement to 'Eclipse'," the third book in the "Twilight" saga, Meyer writes on her website. "It explains a lot of the things that Bella never knew."

The movie "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" is scheduled to hit screens at the end of June. And in the weeks prior, readers can get their hands on the new book.

The existence of "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner" was so closely guarded that actress Jodelle Ferland, who read it as help for playing Bree in the "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," burned the manuscript once she was finished (Meyer has a photo of her with the soggy ashes).

Now that it's out there, Meyer is making two charitable moves with the novella. From June 7 to July 5 it will be available for free download at breetanner.com. Secondly, for each actual sale of the book -- which costs around $10 online -- $1 will be donated to the American Red Cross. On her website, Meyer specifies that the donation will be designated to provide relief to victims of the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, and others in need.

In addition to supplying emergency relief, one of the primary missions of the American Red Cross is "the collection, processing and distribution of lifesaving blood and blood products." Now doesn't that sound exactly like something a troupe of vampires would approve of?

True Bloos Seson 3 promises to bring “intense” Sookie/Eric moment

From Ausiello
Question: I’m on my hands and knees begging for some True Blood news! —Nick

Ausiello: The show is currently shooting episode 6, penned by executive producer Alan Ball. And guess what? It contains what Ball describes as an “intense” Sookie/Eric moment. “Let’s put it this way,” he adds, “I think people will have strong feelings about it.” In possibly related news, Ball told TV Guide that “Sookie is sexually drawn to [Eric] because she’s had his blood. But there is another reason he’s drawn to her, one that will be revealed this season.”

Question: The promo tease for True Blood’s third season shows Eric with noticeably darker hair. Why? —Jody
Ausiello:
“Because when vampires keep secrets from humans that they love, their hair follicles turn darker,” deadpans Alan Ball. “And that’s especially true if they’re carrying a torch for a blond waitress.” Very funny. The real reason, please? “Alexander made a movie during his hiatus and his hair was darker when he returned,” explains Ball with a laugh. “It wasn’t a choice [we made].”

The Wall Street Journal (blog) thinks Bill Compton is a VILF

True Blood’s New Ads: Are the vampires from “True Blood” your type? HBO is counting on your thirst or desire for the vamps with their new VILF ads. The acronym is a play off of the term MILF, which is a term that Speakeasy won’t define here, but that you can find on the Web or in your nearest high school locker room. The term packs a bite that might get tongues wagging for the new season that will kick off on June 13. [THR]

Five things about True Blood author Charlaine Harris

True Blood is so addictive that I felt quite bereft when the last series finished. The wait for season three (which airs in the US on June 13) became more bearable once I’d discovered Charlaine Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse novels, which are the source material for the series.

True Blood’s scriptwriters haven’t stuck religiously to the books. They’ve invented characters, introduced new storylines and altered plots, but essentially they inhabit the same universe (or Sookieverse, as it’s known to fans) as the books. It’s hard to judge the books objectively. My reading experience was coloured by memories of the TV show; there’s no disentangling the two. As I read it was HBO’s characters I was seeing in my mind’s eye, which left me with a curious false memory – I kept thinking I’d been watching the show, when I’d merely been reading.

Wow ! Sizzling

For the uninformed, VILF is an acronym for Vampire I’d Like To F–k (a variation of MILF — Mother I’d Like To F–k).

Actor Kevin Alejandro stars as Detective Nate Moretta on the critically acclaimed cop drama Southland, which is a raw and authentic look at a police unit in Los Angeles. From the beaches of Malibu to the streets of East Los Angeles, the series, which airs on TNT, is a fast-moving drama that will take viewers inside the lives of cops, criminals, victims and their families.

In this exclusive interview with IESB, the actor talked about his love for the unpredictability of Southland, how much fun he's had working with the show's great ensemble and his very different role on the upcoming season True Blood.

True Blood season 3, female character to die (spoiler alert)

I do not believe for one minute Alan Ball is going to kill off Arlene ...she might leave Bon Temps with the kids and be absent some this year or just with most of the events happening in Jackson, we won't see much of her....the female character that will die WE ALL KNOW is Lorena and as Sookie says "I killed her ass"

HBO's hit vampire show 'True Blood' could possibly be losing a cast member. According to E! online's Kristin Dos Santos a female character is scheduled to bite the dust.

CLICK HERE to see a TRUE BLOOD photo slide show!!!

Sources tells Kristin that "a female character" will die in season 3. E! Also reports that Carrie Preston who plays Merlotte's red headed waitress Arlene has been cast for "multiple" episodes on CBS' 'The Good Wife.'

According to Ryan Kwanten who plays Sookie's big brother Jason Stackhouse season 3 is about "halfway through shooting the season." So, does this mean that Preston's character Arlene is the female death? No! fans of the show everywhere are shouting. Arlene brings a certain extra something to the show. But it seems to be a big possibility that Arlene could be the character who dies in season 3. If you're a 'True Blood' fans you're probably wondering what will happen to her two children. Could they possibly end up with Bill and Sookie?
