Not only is Alex the show's leading eye candy, but he also serves as the show's official Swedish-English translator. Costar Kristin Bauer, who plays Eric's "serial killer baby" Pam, tells us, "They keep writing me lines [to read in] Swedish, and Alexander calls and says the Swedish on my phone. Hopefully he's not lying to me about what I'm saying. That's what my boyfriend does—he's from Africa, and he's teaching me Afrikaans, and I don't know what I'm saying, but he laughs."

Jerry in New Orleans: What's coming up on True Blood?
In the next episode, Sookie (Anna Paquin), Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) encounter trouble when they arrive in Dallas and find out that someone from the Fellowship of the Sun was sent to abduct Sookie. The plan fails. And believe it or not, Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) invites Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) into his home and feeds off his blood to recover from the wounds suffered when Eric abducted him. Strange bedfellows, indeed.

True Blood is biting into the Buffy effect

It's six years since the final episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was first transmitted. That, you might have thought, was that. After seven seasons, we'd surely had enough of bloodsuckers.

With its sanguine exploration of teen and twentysomething sexuality, the urban fantasy genre is going from strength to strength – a certain cheerleader would be proud

Except it hasn't turned out that way. It's not just that, in 2007, Dark Horse Comics unleashed "season eight" of Buffy, a direct continuation from the series, partly written by Buffy's creator, Joss Whedon. Now vamps, vamp companions and eldritch folk in general are suddenly everywhere.

In July, F/X will screen True Blood, an HBO series produced by Alan Ball. Instead of residing Six Feet Under, this time a sizeable percentage of its characters are the walking undead, vampires who have revealed themselves to humans and apparently want to join our wider community. Anna Paquin stars as Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress attracted to bloodsucker Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) in part because she can't hear his thoughts.

Sex and Candy: Life, Death, and Dating on "True Blood"

I had the opportunity to watch the first four episodes of Season Two of True Blood a few weeks back but I've been rewatching the episodes as they're airing on HBO so that I don't forget any of the plot twists.

I don't know about you but I thought that last night's episode of True Blood ("Scratches"), written by Raelle Tucker and directed by Scott Winant, was the best of the season so far.

It's a good thing I did tune in again as it contained one of my favorite scenes of the first four episodes, the sultry entrance of Jessica (the intoxicating Deborah Ann Woll) at Merlotte's to the delicious tune of Marcy Playground's "Sex and Candy," one of the most seductive and memorable sequences to unfold on the series to date.

'True Blood' actor ( Sam Trammell) has W.Va. ties

CHARLESTON, W.Va.--Modern gothic literature played out on television and the silver screen often includes a familiar scenario where the heroine is torn between a vampire and a human. Or a werewolf. Or a shape-shifter.

On HBO's True Blood, former Charleston resident Sam Trammell plays Sam Merlotte, a shape-shifting bar owner who often turns into a collie dog. And Trammell is fairly certain who has the upper hand in the romance department.

"Of course the heroine should choose the shape-shifter, for sure," Trammell said in a recent telephone interview.

"I'm not dead," Trammell added with a laugh, "which is an advantage, you know. I'm not cold to the touch. So I'd have to say I think I'm a better match for Sookie."

Sookie, of course, is waitress Sookie Stackhouse, the central character in Charlaine Harris' novels set in Bon Temps, La. Sookie, played by Golden Globe-winner Anna Paquin, is dating vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and also is loved by Sam.

Trammell, who grew up in Charleston, is in Los Angeles while the show shoots its last couple episodes for the second season, which now airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.

How Baby Vampires Pick Up Guys On True Blood

This week, we watched with big watery eyes as the baby vampire Jessica met a boy and batted her long eyelashes alluringly, at his pulsating jugular. True Blood recap, with spoilers, below.

True Blood tied up a few (but not many) loose ends this week, by freeing our boy Lafayette (more on Sookie and Bill's half-hearted kindness towards the bleeding prostitute later) and made Tara a bit more aware of what a tool Eggs is, guitar playing and weepy emotional talks aside.

Sookie was attacked by some horned beast and almost died — again — and Eric got his sexy back. A good episode all in all, but the best moment came from side characters Hoyt and Jessica.

Maybe it's the notion of never dying, or it's the idea of regular folks opening their eyes to a secret coven among them. Nevertheless, vamps haven't finished leaving their marks anytime soon.

True Blood Recipes: Sarah Newlin's Slice of Heaven Banana pudding

From True Blood Episode 3 'Scratches'

"Sarah's pudding is a little slice of heaven," says the Rev Steve Newlin. "I'm going to get the whipped cream," Sarah responds. Steve says "Sarah doesn't just whip out her pudding for anybody,"

Banana Pudding
. 1 cup Sugar
. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
. 1/2 teaspoon salt
. 2 cups milk (whole or 2%)
. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
. 1 tablespoon butter (not margarine)
. 4 egg yolks (large eggs or better)
. box of Vanilla wafers
. 4-5 ripe bananas
. Whipped Cream
Line the bottom of a 9" x 9" baking dish with a layer of vanilla wafers.
Peel the bananas and slice. Combine the sugar, flour and salt in a bowl, and stir well to mix. Set aside.
In a heavy saucepan, beat the egg yolks well (just use a fork or whisk, but beat them well). Over medium heat, add the flour mixture to the egg yolks, alternately with the milk and vanilla, stirring constantly. Bring to a gentle boil and, when the mixture begins to thicken, add the butter, continuing to stir. Keep boiling and stirring until mixture reaches a pudding consistency. Remove from heat.
Place a layer of banana slices in the baking dish on top of the vanilla wafers. Pour, spreading as necessary, half of the pudding over the banana layer. Put down another layer of vanilla wafers, another layer of banana slices, and cover with the remaining pudding.
You can keep out a few wafers and crush them up and sprinkle on top. Top with whipped cream or cool whip.

**Note many Southern Banana pudding recipe call for a meringue topping but Sarah prefers whipped cream.
