Beautiful Creatures ...

Twilight. The Lord of the Rings. Harry Potter. "True Blood". "The Vampire Diaries." There are so many book series out there looking to attain the level of success that those titles have had transitioning to both the big and the small screens. Warner Brothers is about to start banking on another one -- Beautiful Creatures.

Variety reports that Warner has acquired Beautiful Creatures, the first of a five-novel series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl (which drops in book stores tomorrow), with Richard LaGravanese writing and directing the first feature film.

Synopsis
Ethan Wate, a popular high school student, hates living in a small town in South Carolina where nothing happens -- until he meets and becomes bewitched by Lena Duchanne, a 16-year-old whose family has moved back to town and who wishes for a mundane life. The star-crossed couple has to confront an age-old curse that has haunted her family for generations, as she comes to grips with her powers.

'True Blood' cracks the Producers Guild TV field

The Producers Guild of America announced the nominees in the television series and non-fiction television categories for the 21st Annual PGA Awards.

While the nominees are largely a familiar and traditional lot, without a single new Fall 2009 drama or comedy on the list, the PGA did manage to recognize a few fresh names, including HBO's "True Blood" in the drama category.

The Norman Felton Producer of the Year Award in Episodic Television - Drama nods are led by last year's winner, AMC's "Mad Men," while ABC's "Lost" and "Dexter" are also repeat nominees. Coming off a second season in which it broke ratings records seemingly every week, "True Blood" is new to the field, as is "Breaking Bad," stablemate to "Mad Men" at AMC.

'True Blood' Casting: Sam's mom and more!

With True Blood starting production on its third season this week, the spoilers are starting to flow as freely as Type O-neg at Fangtasia! The biggie: Casting is now underway for a role that sounds suspiciously like it can only be that of Sam’s mother!
Debuting in episode 2, middle-aged Melinda Mickens, The Ausiello Files’ sources say, is just about the only character in history who lives in more trash than Oscar the Grouch. And since she and equally filthy hubby Joe Lee share the same surname as Tommy, the character this column’s already reported is Sam’s brother… well, you can do that math, can’t you?

The show is also on the hunt for a knockout to play Crystal Norris, a mysterious beauty who bewitches one of our alpha males. (Figuratively. Um, I think.) She’ll also make her first appearance in the second eppy.

But wait, there’s more…

True Blood adds Marshall Allman

Season 3 of True Blood continues to shape up as Prison Break’s Marshall Allman (as L. J. Burrows) has been cast as a regular in HBO’s popular vampire show. THR is reporting that Allman will play the role of “Tommy Mickens” in Alan Ball’s adaptation of the novels of Charlaine Harris.

Mickens is described in the reports as “, the long-lost younger brother of Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) who works at a Tire Depot in Arkansas”.

I know some other recent casting announcements have hit fan sites, but I’ve been told by HBO that they are not quite official (yet). Also joining the fun for Season 3 ss Denis O’Hare .True Blood returns to HBO in the summer of 2010

True Blood Fan Anniversaries!

Well, it sure is funny how we all started together last year and how we all found each other and what a great year we've had. THE FUN of doing this has been making so many friends and meeting and staying in touch online, by phone and in person.

The anniversary of this blog was November 4th , the anniversary of my first blogtalk radio show was November 24th ( you can still listen to all the podcasts !) and the one year anniversary of True Blood Music Video of the Day is coming up next week !

The lovely @SookieBonTemps has posted a little on her blog about it being her 1 year anniversary tweeting as Sookie on Twitter -thanks for the shout Sook !

I would say thanks to everyone who has been a guest on the radio show and to our weekly Season 2 TB professional reviewers Brian Juergens/Andy Swist and Mark Blankenship and Meredith Woerner. Thanks to all my great friends from the HBO True Blood wiki and to everyone who reads the blog and comments ! "

Holy smokes! It’s my one year anniversary on Twitter!

But one year ago on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, I was sitting at home a little bored when I decided to create the @sookiebontemps account. Maybe it was True Blood / Sookiebook withdrawal. Who knows? Either way, something inside of me said, “What the hell? Why not tweet a few Sookie-isms and see if this sticks?”

A year later, I’m still here. And I’ve got a whole lot of people that I’d like to thank for making Twitter a boatload of fun:

  • Thank you to everyone who followed me in the beginning when Bon Temps on Twitter only had one resident.
  • Thanks to @TrueBloodDallas who knows how to spot a lost lamb when she sees one — it’s certainly been a wild ride from our first chat, to meeting in L.A. for Paley, going to Shreveport to meet Charlaine, to doing Talk Blood every Sunday night after Season 2 epis. Without you, I would not have met the awesome @robiart and the lovely Patrick.

Stephen Moyer and the Nature of True Blood

Bites for Blood kicks off on Thursday, December 3 at 9:00pm

This from the lovely @SookieBonTemps

Would you give a drop of blood to the Red Cross in exchange for a bite from Eric or a kiss from Sookie?

The True Blood players on Twitter hope you will. They are hosting Bites for Blood, the first ever virtual blood drive held on Twitter. Their goal is simple -- fill a blood vial with half-a-million drops of blood to raise awareness for the American Red Cross.

Bites for Blood kicks off on Thursday, December 3 at 9:00pm CDT with one night of virtual kissing and biting booths manned by everyone's favorite True Blood characters on Twitter. Participants simply:
  1. Choose the human or vampire you'd like to have kiss or bite you.
  2. Click on their badge.
  3. By clicking, you will be directed back to Twitter where you'll tweet your support and receive a kiss or bite from the character you chose.
  4. The page will remain open until Sunday, December 5th at 9pm CDT so that you can continue donating drops to Bites for Blood.
It's an easy and fun way to show support for the Red Cross. And if it inspires you to take the next step and make a real life blood donation or contribution to the Red Cross, then even better.

For more information on Bites for Blood and how you can get involved, go to http://truebloodtwitter.com. Be sure to tweet the page and share it on Facebook to get the word out!

True Blood Season 3 : Grant Bowler ?

Grant Bowler cast for Season 3 -wonder who he will be ?

from Daily Telegraph UK

Hats off to Bowler

INSIDER had a flying visit last week from likable lad Grant Bowler, who rightly talked up his latest (and arguably greatest) Stateside gig, True Blood.Unable to contain his excitement about the role, Bowler tipped this columnist into the news.

"Mate, it's HBO and it's the King ... it's the chance to work for an Oscar-winner [series creator Allan Ball] and alongside an Oscar-winner [Anna Paquin]," he said.

It's a great break for the 41-year-old Bowler, who has struggled with bad luck in the US for the past four years, largely because of directorial whims and the writers' strike.

The new role - he wouldn't detail his character - has him becoming bi-coastal, given that he will maintain his commitments on Ugly Betty (seen here on 7Two).

"Ugly Betty rolls from deep, one-on-one connected, touching realism to absolute farce to physical comedy and clowning and everything in between - I love it," Bowler enthused.

Bowler's first episode on Ugly Betty screens next Tuesday at 7.30pm on 7Two.

Coming Out of the Coffin: Vampires Among Us y

From ABC News

Many Self-Described Vampires Keep Lifestyle Secret, Fear Ostracism from Co-Workers, Family

They roam our streets and tend to the sick. People who describe themselves as real-life vampires have found ways to live quietly among us.

"I'm not going to worry and waste sleep at night over who might think I'm a little kooky, because I think I'm a vampire," said Kiera, a registered nurse who works in a hospital in Atlanta. She did not want to be identified by her real name.

Throughout the country and all over the world, a hidden subculture of people believe they are real vampires. They claim to have an "energy leak," which makes them feel sick and lethargic. To offset this energy imbalance, they say they need to feed on other people's energy or blood.

"I try to be very ethical about what I do. I feed predominantly from crowds, so as not to cause harm," said Kiera,
