Alan Ball to cast Holly Cleary
Merlotte’s is getting some new blood. True Blood is casting the role of…
HOLLY: A thirtysomething (presumably single) mother of two, Holly applies for a job at Merlotte’s and creeps Arlene out with her oddly prescient observations. Very strong recurring in season 3 with a possible series regular upgrade in season 4.
by Michael Ausiello
We first see Holly on pg 7 of Living Dead in Dallas when Lafayette's body is discovered in Andy's car.
Danielle Gray and Holly Cleary, the two waitresses on the morning shift, came through the back door laughing. Both divorced women in their mid-twenties, Danielle and Holly were lifelong friends who seemed to be quite happy working their jobs as long as they were together. Holly had a five-year-old son who was at kindergarten, and Danielle had a seven-year-old daughter and a boy too young for school, who stayed with Danielle's mother while Danielle was at Merlotte's. I would never be any closer to the two women—who, after all, were around my age—because they were careful to be sufficient unto themselves.
"What's the matter?" Danielle asked when she saw my face. Her own, narrow and freckled, became instantly worried.
"Why's Andy's car out front?" Holly asked. She'd dated Andy Bellefleur for a while, I recalled. Holly had short blond hair that hung around her face like wilted daisy petals, and the prettiest skin I'd ever seen. "He spend the night in it?"
"No," I said, "but someone else did."

Charlaine to visit University of Central Arkansas
Author of Vampire Mysteries Visits UCA-Posted in Campus News on March 26, 2010
New York Times bestselling author Charlaine Harris will hold a free lecture and book signing at the University of Central Arkansas's Reynolds Performance Hall on April 1 at 7:30 p.m.
Harris, a Mississippi native who now lives in southern Arkansas, writes the popular Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mysteries novels on which the HBO hit series "True Blood" is based.
The book signing will immediately follow the lecture.
Larry Burns, adviser of the UCA Student Government Association, which helped in bringing Harris to campus, said the author's lecture would be exciting for the UCA community.
"Many people in the UCA community, especially students, are fans of the Sookie Stackhouse series and 'True Blood' on HBO," Burns said. "Bringing Charlaine Harris is a great example of the SGA putting students first and providing an opportunity to meet and hear from a truly relevant and current author. Many students, staff and faculty are really excited to have Ms. Harris here on campus. She’s a great Arkansas author with a great series that is only growing in popularity."
Harris has been a published writer for 25 years. She began her career writing ghost stories and soon decided she wanted to start a series of books, according to her web site. Her first series, Real Murders, about a Georgia librarian, earned Harris an Agatha Award nomination. She also wrote the darker Lily Bard series that was based in Shakespeare, Ark.
Harris has gained most recognition for her Sookie Stackhouse series about a telepathic barmaid who befriends vampires and werewolves in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps. The series has been published in Japan, Great Britain, Greece, Germany, Thailand, Spain, France and Russia. The HBO show 'True Blood', based on the series, begins its third season this year.
Harris is a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the American Crime Writers League. She is on the board of Sisters in Crime and alternates with Joan Hess as president of the Arkansas Mystery Writers Alliance.
Seating for the lecture is reserved. Two tickets per person may be picked up at the UCA Box Office, open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Reserved tickets may be picked up during those hours or between 6 and 7 p.m. on April 1. Tickets not picked up by 7 p.m. on April 1 will be released and given away. UCA students, faculty and staff must show IDs when picking up reserved tickets.
Harris’ appearance is funded by the UCA Student Government Association and the UCA Bookstore. - Miranda Grubbs

Bloodsucking that doesn't suck Christopher Moore's trilogy gives readers a plot they can bite into and laugh about
For readers exasperated by the Twilight craze, Christopher Moore is here to save us from the melodrama with a vampire series that focuses more on the laughs than the lust of bloodsucking.
Bite Me: A Love Story is Moore's final book in the unofficial love trilogy, starring vampires Tommy and Jody and their non-vampire sidekick, Abby Normal. While it is pegged as a love story and, according to Moore, shows up on supernatural romance bookshelves, the story is much more a comedy that happens to have a love story plot.
People who have gotten exasperated with the wrist-to-forehead tragedy in Twilight really find relief with the comedy in my book. They want to read something a little darker, goofier, Moore said in an interview with Denver Daily News, also noting that his readership and that of Stephanie Meyers vampire work have a different readership.
Denver Daily
You can meet Christopher, get him to autograph your book and hear him read from his book in Denver this Sun day at 2:00 pm

Stellan, Alexander Skarsgard to voice animated pic
From Variety
Voices carry 3D 'Moomins' Father and son thesps Stellan and Alexander Skarsgard plus Peter Stormare will voice the lead characters in the English-lingo version of "Moomins and the Comet Chase," the first Nordic 3D toon feature.
Pic, helmed by Maria Lindberg and produced by Tom Carpelan for Finland's Filmkompaniet, is a follow up to 2008's "Moomin and Midsummer Madness."
Both toons are based on the books and cartoon strips created by Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson in 1945 about the Moomins, a family of trolls who resemble white hippos.
Much beloved in Europe, the books have been translated into more than 40 languages, and the adventures of the Moomins have been turned into films, TV series, legit plays and radio shows.
Toon is due for a fall release.Posted by " Dallas " at 2:27 PM 2 comments
