Our little Oscar winner ... Anna Paquin

Biography

Anna Helene Paquin was born on July 24th, 1982 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She has one sister and one brother. Her parents were both teachers. The family moved to New Zealand when she was four years old where she attended Hutt Intermediate School. Even though she began secondary school in New Zealand she finished high school in Los Angeles, California. She and her mother had moved to the United States after her parents divorced.

Anna began her acting career at the age of eleven in the critically acclaimed film The Piano. She won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie, which, at the time, made her the second youngest winner of the award. She followed The Piano with another highly acclaimed film Jane Eyre in 1996 and she also starred in Fly Away Home in 1996. She also later had roles in Amistad, Hurlyburly, A Walk on the Moon and She's All That. She attended Colombia University for a year but left to continue acting. She went on to appear in X-Men series as Rogue, a role which took her from child actor to teen star. In 2006 she produced and starred in Blue State, a romantic comedy about a disgruntled Democrat who follows through on a drunken campaign promise to move to Canada if George W. Bush got re-elected.

Anna continues to act in film but has also moved to stage performing in several plays in New York and London.
