Title: One Word Answer

Series/Anthology: In the anthology Bite, also part of the Sookie Stackhouse series.

About this book:
Sookie finds out how her cousin, Hadley, is murdered.

My thoughts:
I have no idea why Harris wrote this short story. It was pointless and didn't really tell you anything important. I am very disappointed and was expecting so much more. Some...explaination I guess you would say.

This story is based on when the Queen sent Mr. Cataliades to see Sookie and tell her that she inherited Hadley's money and belongings. He tells her that she was in a cemetary doing a ritual with the vampire named Waldo who Cataliades brought along with him since he was the limo driver. Anyways, the ritual was to bring someone back from the dead. He tells her that humans came along and staked her during the ritual and Waldo got hurt too. Sookie however realizes that while they are talking about the Queens favorite people that Waldo used to be a favorite of the Queen and that he was jealous of Hadley and he was the one who killed her. Cataliades told Sookie that the Queen knew of his betrayal and wanted Sookie, being her next of kin, to kill Hadley's murderer. However Sookie refuses and wanted Waldo sent back to the Queen so she could do whatever she wanted with him. Waldo went after Sookie because he didn't want to go back to the Queen knowing that she would punish him far worse than just getting staked so since he attacked Sookie, Bill ended up staking him. The Queen steps out of the limo and to be honest, this is where I get confused. They have this conversation where the Queen ends up asking Sookie all these questions and Sookie gives her one word answers and the Queen gets back into the limo and Sookie says at the end, "Thank God for one word answers".

I know...stupid right?

It is important when you start reading the next book in the series. It gives you background information for "Definitely Dead" that you would likely be wondering what you had missed, without it.

I completely agree with you both! i have been so lost with the beginning of book six that I quit reading it! So far in the series the books take place days/weeks apart. For some reason book six starts out 6 weeks in the future... why the sudden change? Im a bit upset with this... and I am aggravated that I keep finding typos and errors in her story... its starting to eat at me now.

at one point she calls Claudine, Claudia.... big difference in my opinion... thats not a nickname or shortening of the name... its an error that someone should have caught...

There is a Claudia thats not a mistake
Claudia was claude and claudine's triplet.
There are plenty of mistakes but that's not one of them

To "Dallas"- In the book Dead as a Doornail, page 265, Claudine is referred to as Claudia

Did you guys also notice 'Aunt Linda' all of a sudden becomes Sookies mothers sister in 'Definitely Dead?' Then in Dead and Gone she reverts back to her fathers sister.
aarrrgghh

Yes one of the many mistakes of the Sookie books

"Claudette" is actually the name given to Claudine and Claude's triplet sister. (from Dead and gone pp.142)

Hate the fact that the short stories are connected to the book. Either leave them out or put the short storied directly into the book. This is making me HATE YOU HARRIS! No matter how good your books are.
