True Blood: A Taste Of Houston in Bon Temps by jefwithonef Houston Press
Johnny Bush, ladies and gentlemen. Even your resident goth music expert has heard of the man. Johnny Bush has been a staunch supporter of the Houston hardcore country sound, imparting his style and wisdom to people still on a regular tour schedule and with new albums. He's played with Ray Price and was the drummer for Willie Nelson. Nelson's financial backing helped him record The Sound of a Heartache in 1967, and he would go on to release a string of hit country records.
Bush's career stalled and took a turn for the worse. Much like another Texas resident, Meat Loaf, he suddenly developed severe vocal problems that robbed him of much of his range. RCA released him from his recording contract in 1974, and the honky-tonk heavyweight turned to drugs.
In 1978 he was finally diagnosed with the real problem, a rare neurological disorder called spasmodic dysphonia that causes sudden, involuntary movements in the vocal cords. By 1985 he regained much of his range, and launched a comeback the next year that has kept him working to this day.

'True Blood' recap: Out of the darkness and into the light LA Times
What a way to end an episode -- vampire Jessica opening the front doors of Bill's mansion, allowing the blinding bright light of the mid-day sun to come streaming in over the threshold, just seconds before the screen goes black. Sunday's "True Blood" installment, "Cold Grey Light of Dawn," was undeniably one of the best of the season so far, with Jessica's life (or is that undeath?) hanging in the balance as Jason raced to save her from the spell cast by the returned necromancer Antonia and her coven, which includes a heartbroken and mighty angry Tara.
The spell, the same one Antonia successfully invoked centuries earlier, is, of course, designed to draw all vampires in the immediate area out into the open to meet the true death. Bill -- having learned from his now-deceased sheriff (and Antonia's rapist turned supplicant) that the witch had returned by taking possession of Marnie's body -- predicted that she would attempt to cast the spell and instructed his subjects to either leave the state or to voluntarily bind themselves in silver before going to ground for the night.

'Dark Shadows' is still in her blood
Kathryn Leigh Scott, who starred in the ABC vampire soap opera, has filmed an appearance in Tim Burton's film version starring Johnny Depp.
Kathryn Leigh Scott describes her cameo in Tim Burton's feature version of the cult-favorite, 1966-71 ABC daytime soap-vampire romance "Dark Shadows" as the film's "ah-ha" moment.
Scott starred in four roles on the influential soap — the precursor of such popular vampire TV series as "True Blood" and the "Twilight" books and movies. She played the waitress from the wrong side of the tracks Maggie Evans, who falls in love with a tortured vampire Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid), as well as Josette du Pres, Lady Kitty Hampshire and Rachel Drummond.
Scott recently returned from London where she, Frid, Lara Parker (who played the vengeful witch Angelique) and David Selby (the ghost Quentin Collins) spent three days filming their cameos for the 2012 release.

'True Blood' Recap: Marnie's Power Increase Means Mortal Trouble for the Vampires
"Cold GreyLight of Dawn" finds everyone reacting to close calls, largely at the hand of Marnie/Antonia's (Arnie? Mantonia?) increasing power. Both the witches and the vampires independently claim their humanity as the one thing that can save them, whether it's motivated by love or revenge — but if everyone has humanity on their side, who wins? The answer isn't immediately clear in this episode, but here's what we did find out:
Vampires and Witches:Marnie/Antonia manipulates Sheriff Louis into doing her bidding: killing Bill's undercover witch, Katy, after using her to secure an exit from Bill's compound for Marnie, and then telling King Bill, "It is Antonia Gavilán and I am returned." Louis' mission doesn't end well for him, as Bill kills the still-possessed vampire after getting the one-word answer as to how Antonia has returned: "Resurrection."
