BBC's "Being Human" returns with season 2 on BBC America July 24th

Being Human is a witty and extraordinary look into the lives of three twenty-somethings and their secret double-lives - as a werewolf, a vampire, and a ghost. They struggle to live normal lives, despite their strange and dark secrets.

After the death of vampire leader Herrick at the end of season one, the supernatural friends are hoping to get on with their lives, but an even greater danger is lurking in the very human world that they so badly want to be a part of. Unbeknownst to the trio, the mysterious Professor Jaggat and her cold-hearted colleague Kemp (Donald Sumpter) - religious zealots who have discovered their existence - are determined to carry out brutal experiments and ultimately destroy them.

While Professor Jaggat and Kemp plot behind the scenes, werewolf George (Russell Tovey) is coming to terms with the fact that he has Herrick's blood on his hands, and a girlfriend who knows his horrific secret. Turning down the door of death has implications for ghost Annie (Lenora Crichlow), but her confidence is at a peak and she's determined to stand up and be counted in the real world. And, with Herrick gone, Mitchell (Aidan Turner) must appease an out of control vampire world - can he find a way to lead by example?

New Stills From 'True Blood' Released of "9 Crimes"

"" might have skipped 4th of July to avoid low rating intake but HBO was not going to leave its fans with nothing for a week straight. The network released a set of new stills which can be spoilery for the curious minds.

One of them shows Tara and Jason in a hospital but it is unclear who they are visiting. The rest capture a pissed Vampire Queen of Louisiana, Jessica and Sam by Merlotte's jukebox, Lafayette frowning at something and Lorena in a car as well as behind Bill while he makes a call, presumably to Sookie.

The Solid Kind of Happy by Babyvamp

I've been wonderin' about my human family a lot lately. Not the pinin', missin' kind of wonderin', but the curious kind. I think it's 'cause my human birthday is coming up. I haven't told Bill or Sookie or anyone about it. Doesn't really matter anymore, I guess, it's not like I'm going to turn eighteen. But like, what's my mama wearin' today? That yellow cardigan she wears when there's a draft, or the blue turtleneck for when she's doin' housework, with a hole in the sleeve? And my daddy, is he watchin' the game? How many beers has he already had tonight? I guess I do start to feel, I don't know, something, when I think about Eden. She's stuck back there with those lame excuses for parents. Sure, she was a pain in the ass sometimes, what little sister ain't, but she didn't do nothin' wrong. She doesn't deserve the belt. It used to be daddy wouldn't beat her as much. He'd mostly just look at her like he wanted to, but then send her to her room without dinner instead. But now that I'm not there to take all the heat, I just hope she isn't getting it extra hard.

Parta me wants to go back there and kidnap her. I mean, I wouldn't turn her into a vampire, but maybe I could just show her there's a big world out there. Bigger than that house and that church and that idiotic little life. She could meet a boy, like I met Hoyt, and be happy. The real kinda happy. Not the passin' kind, but the solid kind. She deserves that, hell, all nine year olds do. She'll be ten next week, actually. Our birthdays were real close together. It's strange when you think about it, she'll be ten, then eleven, then twelve, pretty soon she'll be older than me. And I'll just be one of those memories to her, like dust particles floatin' through the room, gettin' caught in your throat or whatever. They're always there, but you can't see 'em all the time, only when they hit a shaft of light.

True Blood: Jace Everett's Ominous Theme Song "Bad Things"

Jef does not take the week off!!!
Good sex always requires a refractory period, a cooling off while you restring your crossbow. We don't know if twisting a girl's head around in the middle of a hump session counts as good sex, but it definitely counts for a little time out. While, the crew in Bon Temps recovers, Gothtopia would like to talk to you about the most awesome theme song ever.

Believe it or not, Gothtopia was actually a little hesitant about watching True Blood. Like a lot of people our age, we sort of overdosed on Anne Rice in high school. Vampire fiction is like alcoholism. If you have a problem with it, you always have a problem with it. So we avoided the Sookie Stackhouse novels until we were told, in no uncertain terms, by our wife that Sunday night was going to be True Blood night. Any leftover uncertainty was blasted away the first time we heard Jace Everett's theme song, "Bad Things."

'True Blood': A little talk among fans to tide us over

Hey there, "True Blood" fans. I know it's a holiday weekend, so you're probably out enjoying yourselves, but I also know there's no new "True Blood" on Sunday night, so you're not enjoying yourselves that heartily. You're maybe at a cookout, having a burger or a hot dog, maybe a few potato chips, and you're laughing and joking with family and friends, but underneath all of that, you're thinking, "Man, I wish 'True Blood' were on tonight. I need some fireworks after the fireworks, if you know what I mean." Well, that's why I'm here. And although this may not keep the sting of no new episode away, it will give you happy memories of a time when Bill was twisting Lorena's neck around in the midst of coitus. That oughtta spice up the patriotic parades!

Frequent commenter KarenJ dropped me an e-mail this week, talking about how many blog posts she'd read from fans of the book series the show is based on. Karen disagrees with their approach:

"Fans of the book series all seem to mention how 'easy' it is for them to follow the convoluted and multiple plots of the show - based on the books. And how they 'get-it' based on the books.

Interview with a vampire: True Blood's Deborah Ann Woll gives us something to sink our teeth into

They're cool, they're sexy, and they're undead. Yes, we're talking about vampires. No, not those angsty teens from the Twilight saga, but those cool bloodsuckers from the HBO TV series, True Blood. The series has garnered millions of fans from all over the world since its debut three years ago, and will soon launch its third season here in Asia on July 19.

And while the series boasts a vibrant cast - Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Alexander Skarsgard, Ryan Kwanten, Sam Trammell, Rutina Wesley and Nelsan Ellis - for Season 3, the attention also falls on Jessica, a teen-turned-vampire played by Deborah Ann Woll, who has to come to terms with being a vampire. (Jessica wasn't part of the original Charlaine Harris books upon which the series is based, but a specially created character for TV.)

Today's vampire – a needy, neurotic wimp

It used to be the case that bloodthirsty vampires and fanged creatures of the night were the stuff of nightmares and terrifying children's fairytales.
Not any more, according to the bestselling writer, Neil Gaiman. They're all a little toothless these days, he says, and nothing like the true-blue bloodsuckers of old.
Vampires are now over-populating popular culture to the point where they are just not scary, Mr Gaiman said as he picked up the CILIP Carnegie medal for his gothic children's story The Graveyard Book, about an orphan raised by ghosts.
Speaking to The Independent, he likened the glut of vampires in books, films and television shows – from the Twilight series to the growth of paranormal romance fiction – to a cockroach infestation. He said he had originally wanted to create a vampire character for his next book but had later decided against it.

My Deathless Passion- NYT

Sometimes the thing that’s weird about you is the thing that’s cool about you.
When you’re young, and even at times when you’re older, it’s hard to fathom this: What needs to be nurtured is the stuff that’s different, that sets you apart from the pack, rather than the stuff that helps you blend in.
On this Independence Day, if you’re passionate about it — even (or especially) if no one else is — let your freak flag fly.

Happy 4th of July from Bon Temps

The world needs all the Sookies it can get.

Our own Team Talk Blood Radio co-host @SookeiBonTemps decide to hang up her  Sookie Stackhouse Twitter Role Playing account on Friday. Many in the True Blood Twitterverse were sad to hear the news and many had very nice things to say about all the hard work and passion she brought to Sookie/True Blood Twitter Fandom world.

This DOES not mean she's stopping everything - it's actually good news for us on Team Talk Blood Radio ! We teamed up for this season and we will stay a team for the next 9 episodes. We'll have lots more to say about this on the next show Sunday July 11th so join me and " the artist formerly known as @SookieBonTemps " next week !

Enjoy her wonderful post

The world needs all the Sookies it can get.

It’s a phrase I’ve said often, but it’s a phrase that rings true.
The world DOES need all the Sookies it can get. Why? She’s loyal. Sometimes to a fault. She takes the high road — no matter what comes at her, she does what’s right.  The people she loves in her life come first and she’ll fight to the death for them, if that’s what’s required.  She stands for courage and most of all, she stands for someone who always comes through in the end. You want a Sookie in your life.
But the time has come for me to stop being Sookie.
This is my last blogpost as @SookieBonTemps. Being @SookieBonTemps has definitely been a wild ride. From writing 140-character tweets on my life in fictional Bon Temps to dabbling roleplay to developing programs like True Blood on Twitter Thursday, Bites for Blood for the American Red Cross, it’s been a fantastic run and I couldn’t have done it without all of you.
I’d like to say thank you to the lovely characters who’ve been with me since the beginning, @LafayetteTB, @EricNorthman, @VampireBill, @MerlottesBar, @JessicaHamby, @HoytFortenberry, and all of the lovely characters and non-characters who joined the fray soon after.  Some of you I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in real life, others of you I plan to meet real soon.
Thanks to @TrueBloodDallas, who found this little lost lamb way back in December 2008 when there was no Bon Temps Twitterverse.  You are a wonderful partner in crime, and we do the best damn True Blood radio show out there. Not that I’m biased.
Thank you to @HBO for embracing the True Blood fandom.
And thank you, most of all to my friends and followers whose tweets truly made the experience of being @SookieBonTemps worthwhile, and more importantly, entertaining.
