NEED TO KNOW | A chat with Charlaine Harris, author behind "True Blood" | PBS Video

Have I said today how much I love this woman ? ha!

‘True Blood”s Joe Manganiello talks to Parade magazine

Have I said today how much I love this guy ?

Walter Scott asks … Joe Manganiello (star of HBO’s True Blood, 33)
WS: Did you get cast as the werewolf Alcide Herveaux thanks to your muscles?
JM: In the books he’s physically imposing, but if he had a beer gut and a comb-over and was missing his teeth, that’s how I’d look in the part.
True Blood’s Joe Manganiello Talks ‘Werewolf Dating’
WS: You were an athletic kid. How did your dad react when you wanted to become an actor?
JM: Any father who has a 6-foot-5 kid who can run, throw, catch, dunk, and slide — I mean, you’re gonna be upset. But recently he wrote me a poem about a werewolf and framed it and brought it to me. I started crying. It was just this magical moment.

If you are at DragonCon this weekend you might want to give blood or Pam will take it from you!

If you haven’t given blood yet, please consider it. The 2010 Robert A. Heinlein “Pay it Forward” Blood Drive is well underway. The goal this year is to beat 3,000 units drawn. Find them in the Marriott Marquis on the Atrium level in rooms A701-A702 and A705-A708.

On Friday, Kristin Bauer, the actress who plays Pam, the vampire co-owner of Bon Temps’ Fangtasia bar in the television series True Blood, dropped by. It’s a “natural thing that Pam would show up at the blood drive,” she said. “[Donating] is such a pure and selfless thing. I wanted to bring attention to it, and help break the record for this year.”

As she toured the facility, Kristen was interested in the different forms of donation and the ways the blood and blood products can save the lives of burn victims, cancer patients, surgical patients, and accident victims.

Who knows what other celebrities (undead or living) might be spotted, either motivating others to donate, or giving blood themselves. All donors receive a T-shirt and the quintessential juice and cookie

Alexander Skarsgard talks Talkbot scene : "I’d never kissed a guy before"

Alexander Skarsgard’s Eric has had a wild third season of True Blood to say the least. There’s been rapid-fire sex scenes, Viking flashbacks, Sookie Stackhouse sex dreams, and then of course, his ultimately bloody tryst with fellow vamp Talbot (Theo Alexander). Skarsgard tells EW that he and Alexander really wanted the scene to be powerful for viewers. “I’d never kissed a guy before on a show or in a movie, and that was Theo’s first time as well, and we talked about it,” says Skarsgard. “

Casting News for True Blood's Alan Ball's All Signs of Death

With "True Blood" chugging along quite nicely toward the end of its Season Three run, it seems Alan Ball has enough time on his hands to start prepping his next series for HBO, "All Signs of Death", which is based on the Charlie Huston crime noir novel The Mystic Arts of Erasing All Signs of Death. Word recently came down as to whom Ball has cast to appear in the pilot, and things are looking quite good indeed.

According to Deadline Hollywood Ben Whishaw (pictured, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer), Clayne Crawford ("24"), Mercedes Masöhn (Quarantine 2: Terminal ), Ron Yuan ("Prison Break"), Jeremy Ray Valdez (The Obama Effect), Mahershalalhashbaz Ali (Predators), and Kelsey Ford (Vampires Suck) are all confirmed for the pilot, which is being executive produced and directed by Ball.
Here's the book's synopsis, which, given that Huston himself is writing the script for the TV pilot, will probably be followed rather closely, at least initially:

Who will survive the 'True Blood' season finale?

Sources tell E! Online that many of the new characters will be back next year

Joe Manganiello is officially set for more "True Blood" nakie time in season four! Oh wait, you knew that already?
Well, how about Bon Temps' other new additions—Denis O'Hare, Marshall Allman, Kevin Alejandro and Lauren Bowles? We have the scoop:
Believe it or not (and after last week's, um, sunny episode ending, we were inclined to go with the not), all of the aforementioned newbies will be back on True Blood for season four, according to sources. So it looks like all those pretty faces up there survive next Sunday's "bloody" (per Alexander Skarsgård) season three finale—even the (gulp) spine-snatchin' King of Mississippi, Russell Edgington. (Hide yer babies!)

Charlaine Harris book and blog : reads Hiaasen,True Blood books and comments on the Emmy's

Charlaine Harris writes on her blog her latest book reviews and comments on the Emmy's " Because we all need a little glamour."

* Star Island, Carl Hiaasen
* Xombies – Apocalypse Blues, Walter Greatshell
* True Blood and Philosophy: We Wanna Think Bad Things with You, William Irwin, George A. Dunn, Rebecca Housel
* A Taste of True Blood: The Fangbanger’s Guide, Leah Wilson, Jacob Clifton, MariaLima, Nick Mamatas

Carl Hiaasen was one of the original (if not THE original) environmental mystery writers. That is, he writes wonderfully original books framed as mysteries that deal with what we’ve done and are doing to the earth. Hiaasen, of course, is based in Florida, which gives him plenty to say. In Hiaasen’s world, there are plenty of monstrously selfish people and plenty of people who are capable of good in an incredibly surprising way. In Star Island, utterly shallow and untalented singing star Cherry Pye, managed by her parents who could not love her less, bounces from rehab back to the streets and from one untenable situation to another. She’s a little monster, and so are the people around her. Her stand-in, Ann DeLusia, is a better human being, and she pays the price for Cherry’s carelessness. Luckily for Ann, she’s caught the heart of crazy ex-governor Tyree, who lives in the swamps. He’s commited many acts of eco-terrorism. You get the idea? Hiaasen is a wild ride.

Blood Work! “True Blood” vlog 3.11: WHERE’S MY F*CKING WHISKEY!??!

Well --Wow! The boys ( Andy and Brian) from Camp Blood and Team Talk Blood give us their review of Episode 11.

In one of our most ill-advised moves to date, Andy and I take a tip from rapidly unspooling shapeshifter barman Sam Merlotte and decide to get completely wasted before recording this week’s True Blood recap. SPOILER: One of us an angry drunk, but the other one is a cuddler!

Anyway, this week’s True Blood was all about being drunk on something, be it Jack Daniels, Patron, “V”, or Sookie. So please allow us this little foray into the 100-Proof Wood. Somehow we still manage to cover the hot topics – Bill & Eric’s alliance! Arlene’s no-bortion! Jesus‘ “oh! face”! – but lose a lot of dignity (and brain cells) along the way.

Enjoy below!
