Go Ask Dallas " What the hell did Sophie- Anne tell Bill about how to kill the Maenad ?

Dear Dallas, What did Sophie-Anne tell Bill about how to kill Mary Anne the maend ? Thanks, M

Well, M here is the text from the 2 exchanges that Sophie- Anne and Bill have about killing the maenad. Maybe this will help you sort through what Sophie Ann says ..and I get this feeling she might not be telling " William" everything ....

BC: I need to know how to kill a maenad.

SA: A maenad? In Bon T
emps? That's random.

BC: Yes. She seems to have caused some sort of mass hypnosis. The whole town has devolved a primitive state in a matter of days.

SA: Oh, my, she's an old one. Well, they're all old. Relics.

BC: Ancient Greece, correct?

SA: Before that even. Orgies, sacrifice? Cannibalism?

BC: We suspect.

SA: Fun.

BC: So how do I kill
it?

SA: You can't. She's convinced herself she's immortal and so she is.
William, surely you know that everything that exists imagined itself into existence.

BC: I'm not entirely familiar with that theory, no.

SA: Think about it. You're a wild young girl who's married to some jerk who treats you like property and is also fucking some 14-year-old boy. And along comes this religion, which encourages you to get hammered, run naked through the woods, have sex with whoever, or whatever, and it's all part of getting closer to God.

BC: I could see how that would have its appeal, especially to humans with their tendency tow
ards Puritanism.

SA: Exactly. So you're fucking everybody in the dirt.
Why not kill something and eat it raw? Hey, you're super extra pious. There's nothing you can't do, and each time you do it just brings you one step closer to the divine.

BC: Isn't that delusional?

SA: Never underestimate the power of blind faith. It can manifest in ways that bend the laws of physics or break them entirely.

BC: I bit her and it poisoned me. Of course it did.

SA: We can only drink human blood, and she's no longer even remotely human.

BC: But she started out as human.

SA: Hello. Evolution? We started out that way too. Less than two hours till dawn. Shall we have sex? Kidding. I haven't enjoyed sex with men since the Eisenhower administration.

BC: I really ought to get back to...

SA: Nonsense. Sookie's not in any trouble. You would know it

Then later during Yatzhee

SA: Maenads are sad silly things. The world changed centuries ago and they're still waiting for the God Who Comes.

BC: Does he ever come?

SA: Of course not. Gods never actually s

BC: If I can't kill her, how do I get her to leave Bon Temps?

SA: She has to believe that she's successfully summoned forth Dionysus...in hope that he will...ravish her, quite literally devour her, until she's lost into oblivion.

BC: So she seeks...death...the true death. The one thing she's evolved beyond.

SA: Ironic, isn't it? You know, they're really not that smart, these maenads.

BC: So how does she summon this nonexistent god of hers?

SA: I never said he was nonexistent. I just said he never comes. She believes if she finds the
perfect vessel, sacrifices and devours part of him or her while surrounded by the magic of her familiars, then her mad god will appear. At that point, when she willingly surrenders herself to him...

BC: That's the only point she can be killed.

SA: Who's the smartest boy in class.

BC: The perfect vessel... human?

SA: They prefer supernatural beings.

BC: The two-natured.

SA: Shifters, yes. And Weres. Fortunately, they show little interest in us.
Something about our hearts not beating. But they'll try any other being that straddles the two worlds.

BC: As long as it has a beating heart.

SA: You have to remember, they've been trying for centuries. They're constantly improvising their recipes in hopes of finding that one magic element that will make it all happen. Idiots. Excuse me.

Got it now ? No , I don't either

I think the maenad has to believe that she has killed/sacrificed the perfect vessel & has consumed part of it. Then the God will come, once he comes she will submit herself to him, in other words be completely free as he takes her and while she's in this sublime state she loses her immortality and can be killed. I think the key is what the maenad perceives, if she thinks the sacrifice is complete and she's consumed a part of that person then she will think her God has come. They might be able to fool her kind of like Jason did the frenzied zombies the week before. That's my theory, I hope it makes sense.

I believe that you are right. I also believe that she thinks her perfect sacrifice vessel is Sam. Sam may have to pretend to be sacrificed.

That horned monster that attacked Sookie did not look like MaryAnn’s body or her bull mask. Pam said the creature stank and did not smell like anything she has encountered before. So maybe it does exist and will show up.

If Sookie is to be the “Bride's Maid” in the upcoming ceremony maybe she and Sam will be able to summon the reluctant groom.

Once it arrives maybe it will take a look at Sookie and toss MaryAnn aside like an old relic she is and take a liking to Sookie! Yikes, I saw Sook running from something in a white dress screaming for Bill.

Hey, Bill’s house is very close to Sook’s house, maybe Jessica can zip over there in time to catch the bouquet! Tee-hee.

I have my fingers crossed that the last show will be the big pay off.

You know, I've been thinking now. This season is all about those who live here for thousand years and wanna die, wanna see God. First Godric, now Maryann.

Maybe it's a ficcional way for presenting us death like a gift.

Also, did anyone happen to notice that Maxine Fortenberry (while crazed) seemed to know a thing or two about what the Maenad was in for, for some reason? While making her Snickers 'n HotSauce delight, she mutters to Hoyt that if only the Maenad knew what would happen to her when the God Comes, the Maenad wouldn't be nearly as eager for it to happen. Foreshadowing, of course. But how the hell would Maxine know that?? I'm very curious.

Sometimes AB drops these things in our laps. Maybe Maxine is a supe. Like the way that AB had Bill seemed shocked and repeat "Bellefleur?" the first time me met Andy Bellefleur. Never went anywhere with that comment, but those who read the books know it's meaningful.

Sookie said the thing that attacked her WAS Maryann, she felt it when she attacked her. And I am afraid that after Sookie did her facepalm thing to Maryann, that Maryann has found a better vessel than Sam.....Read the last bit of dialogue between Sophie Anne and Bill and you see it dawning on him....Sookie is a supe with a beating heart and a super cool power.

And what I gleaned from what Sophie Anne said was this: Maryann has willed herself to be immortal until she can be destroyed in ecstasy by Dionysus. So right before he ravages her, she will have to give up on immortality so that he will be able to destroy her, otherwise, she would not die. So during that period of time, where she gives herself up, she will be mortal and will be able to be killed.

Dallas-can't you disable anonymous commenting on Blogger? People aren't going to stop doing it until you do....I don't understand why people do that, the internet is pretty anonymous as it is even with screen names! LOL

Yes, I think you could be right Sarah about it being Sookie - MA knows sookie is a supe but not what she is ...

I could disable it I've always let folks post just as long as the VOLUNTARILY sign in or sign their posts ..

Most site disable it because of trouble makers and spammers - we never have any of that i only want folks to be polite and sign their name so others can address them ...
