Oh, "True Blood," why does your season have to end so quickly! It seems like just yesterday fans were counting down the days to the season-three premiere. Alas, the new episodes have come and gone, but that doesn't mean we don't have fresh news and intel straight from our favorite HBO castmembers themselves! When MTV News caught up with the merry, wise-cracking bunch recently, we asked them what might be on their wish lists for next season, as well as a few details about co-stars and witches, etc.
"Well, if you read the books you know that next season is all about fightin' witches," Nelsan Ellis teased about season four's fun new plotline. "So we shall see," he said.
But will we get to see Lafayette and Hoyt get involved in that?
Jim Parrack (Hoyt) offered to demonstrate his skills right away.
"I'll fight a witch right now," he said. "I'll fight a witch tonight!"
"Maybe," Ellis added, sounding skeptical about Parrack's fighting ways. "And maybe Hoyt is a witch."

True Blood’s Joe Manganiello Discusses His Beard in Great Detail
Joe Manganiello just wrapped his first season on True Blood, playing Alcide the hunky, sometimes naked werewolf. We caught up with him this Fashion Week at the G-Star Raw show, where he was sporting his trademark not-too-long, not-too-short, always-the-same facial hair, and took the opportunity to ask every question we could think of about it.
You always have this beard the same length. Is that part of your look?
Yeah. I mean, I read the books, and this is how the character was described in the books. When I showed up I wanted to be as close to that mark as possible, and then you kind of put your own stink on it, and make him look the way you think he should look. And there’s kind of a reclusive, construction-working, woodsy, kind of, you know, secretive guy, so I figured a beard would work.

5 Operas That Are Truly Bloodier Than 'True Blood'
Hundreds of thousands — maybe gazillions — of fans of True Blood might be feeling a little anemic right about now, what with season three of the wildly popular HBO show having wrapped up last Sunday.
Where oh where will they get their fix?
I can't really include myself in the True Blood fan club (I've only watched a few episodes here and there), but my friend Latoya is. She's actually more of a True Blood sophist. She writes about it with equal parts acumen and abandon at her blog Racialicious.
But, as I explained to her recently, True Blood-ites might continue to get their fix of backstabbing and bloodletting (both figuratively and literally) by merely jumping genres… to opera.

True Blood's Joe Manganiello Hungry Like a Wolf for His Girlfriend
"I sniff you a lot. And I growl a lot when you ask me to do things, like clean up," Manganiello joked to Marie while talking with PEOPLE at Wednesday's New York premiere of HBO's Boardwalk Empire.
Asked if it's a turn-on that her boyfriend plays a werewolf, Marie replied, "Of course!" She added that Manganiello is perfectly cast, "if you saw how he eats at home. He likes to eat meat without a utensil."

The Man Behind the Music of HBO's "True Blood," Gary Calamar, Part 1

What is the sound of Bon Temps?
It's got a few different sounds. I mean, it's got the sound of Merlotte's, which is a little bit more, upbeat bar music, rockabilly, southern Rock. And then in the first season we had some music for Sookie playing at her house, which was like the Watson Twins covering The Cure and stuff like that. But, yeah, all of it has sort of a dark undercurrent to it like a lot of New Orleans blues seems to have. Those classics Slim Harpo, Willie Dixon, and Howlin' Wolf. Those are what really kind of speak to me as the sound of Bon Temps.
I heard [series creator] Alan Ball say a rule of his was to "Never use opera music" in a vampire show, one of the things he decided early on along with not giving them cheesy contact lenses...
I don't remember Alan actually saying that to me. But I think his goal was to have a non-traditional kind of sound to the show. And not use, you know, sort of overly dramatic types of music that have been used in vampire series in the past, or movies in the past.

Why True Blood Finale Disappointing
The Pam point is good -I've been wondering how Tara knew what a shifter was ?

- It doesn't leave us wanting more. "Once again a disappointing cliffhanger. Just like last year, I'm left not caring about the end. Obviously, Sookie will be back. The only highlight for me was Bill's secret finally being revealed. I've waited all season for Bill to go down. The rest of the episode didn't solve anything, just left everything open ended. I guess some people might enjoy that, but after dedicating the whole summer to the show, some big stuff could have at least gone down." — elramos
- Tara needs a better story line. "I kept hoping to see Tara drive off a cliff. I'm sick of valuable minutes being wasted on her. As manipulative and abusive as Franklin was, I actually felt bad for him that he fell in love/lust/whatever with her. I hope season 4 brings an end to Tara." — MeowAlyCat
- None of the series regulars are killed off. "I think the sense of urgency is kind of lost because in three seasons, not a single major character has died. Think about Lost. They kept the urgency going in the early seasons because the writers were not afraid to kill off a crowd favorite. As other commenters mentioned, we know Eric isn't going to die, and Bill isn't going to leave, and Sookie will be back, etc. Where's the drama?" — jadenirvana See the last two reasons when you read more.
- Sookie's fairy life is not that exciting. "This whole weird fairy thing bugs me. It's so campy and soap opera dreamy that I almost roll my eyes every time it comes on." — tlsgirl
- Not everything is explained. "I wasn't bowled over by the finale either. There were some things not explained (how did Pam know to get Eric out of the concrete, for example)." — jultritz

The Dracula soundtrack will also be available for separate purchase on the iTunes Store®. Pricing for the eBook and for the separate soundtrack will be announced at a later date.

Should True Blood Fans Be Crying Wolf?
This does not make Dallas happy.. I think 'Your Face goes here' ( Ball) should address these concerns ( and yes, I think real wolves ( most are hybrid ) can be used but they have to be very carefully handled.)
The latest season of HBO's True Blood ended on Sunday, and the wolves have a little time off — both the human actors playing werewolves and their animal counterparts. In case you had been wondering whether those wolves featured this past season were digital, they're not.
The growing popularity of the vampire genre has led to increased demand for wolf actors. The Wall Street Journal reported that, while big-budget movies like The Twilight Saga can afford computer-generated animals, many television producers turn to the real deal. It's a lot cheaper to rent a wolf than it is to rent a computer designer.
However, it seems like the decision to use creatures over computers was a creative one for True Blood. Executive producer Alan Ball touted the benefits of using real wolves: "Wolves are incredibly charismatic and very powerful creatures and you can't create a version of that that's as good as the real thing." Director Daniel Minahan also credits the decision to the writing team, not the budget department.

Nelsan Ellis ('True Blood') Interview
It's fair to say the first season of True Blood ended on a huge cliffhanger, but fans dying to know what happened don't have to wait much longer - the second run begins in the UK on Channel 4 this week! To celebrate we caught up with Nelsan Ellis - who plays the wonderful Lafayette - to chat about the show and find out what's coming up. Be warned - there's a spoiler about the first Charlaine Harris book!
At the end of the first season, Lafayette was attacked. Where do we pick him up in the second?
"He lives! Lafayette lives. He's not entirely intact but he lives. He's been abducted. I can't say by whom, but he's been abducted and he's a prisoner in a dungeon somewhere."
Lafayette was very feisty and strong in the first season. Does being captured affect him at all?
"Absolutely. I think Lafayette prides himself on his freedom, or his self-proclaimed freedom to be who he is and to go to and fro at his will, so I think it damages his self-esteem to be completely powerless in the situation."

Keep It Or Dump It: True Blood Characters It's time to thin the herd on HBO's most popular show, and its most overpopulated.
True Blood finishes its third season Sunday fully entrenched as the most popular series on HBO, so the producers have every reason to believe they have hit on a winning formula. But despite the deaths of several important minor characters in midseason, there's still a feeling that individual True Blood episodes still have too much going on, too many secondary characters whose stories are almost totally separate from the main plot threads.
A typical week might find us spending a minute with Sookie and Bill, then back at Fangtasia with Eric, then hanging out with Lafayette and Jesus, then over to Merlotte's to see what idiocy Arlene and Tommy are up to, then out with Jason as he tries to become a cop, then parked in a car with Hoyt and his silly girlfriend Summer ... it's just too much time taken up by characters we don't care about.
This Keep It Or Dump It installment puts the supporting characters of True Blood under the microscope to determine if they still have some life left in them, or if it's long past time for them to meet the true death. We're sparing Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard) up front, as they are clearly the leads on the series. I'm also not relying on knowledge of the Charlaine Harris source novels for clues as to what these characters may be up to in coming seasons; since I haven't read the books, I am going solely on what the series has told us about them thus far.

Open Letter to Mr. Alan Ball
Mrs Jetplane has some suggestions for Alan Ball
Mr. Ball...Alan...may I call you Alan...
Well Alan, first and foremost I want to THANK YOU. I want thank you for bringing the wondrously amazing Mrs. Harris' books to life. Thank you for letting the world know about these great characters and bringing them into our homes on Sunday nights for 12 weeks (only 12 flipping weeks?). HBO I understand you like to bring on new programming...like constantly, but seriously only 12...Boo.
But I do have a bone to pick with you and your writing team. While obviously brilliant and creative you have taken TOO MUCH creative liberties with a book series that is too widely loved. You have made changes to the story lines in season 2 and 3 that make books in the series too improbable now. While some changes are good... i.e. Lafayette others have disastrous consequences...I'm talking about MARY ANN and FAE here (and Hot Shot/Calvin Norris). You have messed with characters and story lines so much that its beginning to make me dislike the show at certain times.
