True Blood gives a great neck job, but we need a bit more from Meredith at io9.com
Team Talk Blood member Meredith Woerner give us her Pros and Cons
Oh, what a vampire night. Once again this show struggles to out-top itself after the infamous vampire news desk sign-off. And this being the second-to-last episode, we're starting to worry about True Blood reaching its vampire climax. NSFW.
Oh dear, True Blood. While last night's episode was stitched together with few funny quips and one tantalizing neck job, it was pretty tame. This is the second-to-last episode. It's time to bring out the big werewolf dogs, right? I'm starting to get very nervous that we're going to have a repeat of last year's double finale. One ending in season two was perfectly fine (the Godric Quantum leap) and the other was a Egg-licking cow-fisting disaster. Did True Blood already blow its vampire load thanks to the Vampire King of Mississippi's spine-ripping newscast? Because as of right now, this show it making meth addict were-panthers boring. That being said, there was some good in here, let's Pro and Con it:

Kwanten's Hidden Talent: Prankster
"I think if Ryan could retire from acting and be a prankster, he would consider it," Jim Parrack, who plays Hoyt Fortenberry on the HBO hit, tells PEOPLE.
So what was one of Kwanten's more memorable pranks? "He took our cameraman's car and filled it with ladybugs," says Parrack. "He goes all out."

Vampires might want to kill you but they are saving the economy!
Vampires might want to kill you, but they're giving the economy a life-saving transfusion. Hollywood Reporter says that since the first "Twilight" movie came out, vampire-related books, movies, TV shows, soundtracks, pornography, etc., have brought in $7 billion; that's more than the annual GDP of a small country.

True Blood Season Finale Scoop!
Stop the presses! Or, um, the internet. Stop the internet! I know what's going to happen in the season finale of True Blood. Not only that, but I got Alexander Skarsgård and Sam Trammell super drunk on kiwi lime wine coolers and they talked about next season.
Ok, I didn't get them drunk, but at last night's awesome-sauce HBO Emmy party (always the best!), they definitely did spill on what's ahead on True Blood. And so did the rest of the cast...
"There's going to be a lot of blood. And a lot of sex. And a lot of people are going to die," werewolf Joe Manganiello tells me about the season finale. Wow! That's...not brand new information at all. That's just business as usual! Perhaps Nelsan Ellis can drop some new knowledge?

True Blood: "Flesh Blood," Eels And Hostages- Houston Press
The great Jefwithonef member of Team Talk Blood!
So sayeth Vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer) to Sookie (Anna Paquin) moments before Season 3's Big Bad crashes their ugly yellow car and takes them hostage in order to find out if fairy blood acts as the ultimate sunscreen, allowing the vamps to go to early matinee movies and other daytime activities.
The answer then is, no. No, we cannot start again, but that's no excuse not to try.
Mark Oliver Everett, better known as E of The Eels, has certainly tried a time or three to restart his life. Even a brief biography of his reads like the most tragic moments of the Sookie-verse. Substitute cancer and suicide for vampires and were-whatevers and, frankly, the story is startlingly similar. E's never given up though, and just released the third part of his trilogy exploring desire, loss, and redemption. The trilogy began with Hombre Loco last year, and its lead single "Fresh Blood."

'True Blood': The center cannot hold- LA Times
We are sooooo smart on Talk Blood Radio this is what we've been talking about for weeks. Bookies you have to read this article !!
After Sunday night's episode of "True Blood," it's becoming immensely clear that not all of the storylines the show is spinning are going to come to closure points by the end of the season or tie together in any way, shape or form. The question, then, becomes whether the individual storylines were entertaining enough to keep the show afloat or whether you think the lack of cohesion has fatally damaged this season. I realize I should pick a side in this fight, but I think this season has been the best for "True Blood" while simultaneously being the worst. The main plot has been riveting throughout, helped out by splitting up Sookie and Bill and giving them each compelling plot threads and by casting Dennis O'Hare as the villain. Any time one of those three or Eric was on screen, the season has been terrific, more or less.
But "True Blood" is a massive, massive show, and that means those characters can't always be on screen. The show solved this last season by splitting all of the characters up into two storylines. The storyline in Dallas — wherein a bunch of the characters confronted a band of fundamentalist Christians bent on wiping out vampires — was often fun. The storyline back in Bon Temps — wherein most of the other characters were enraptured by the machinations of a maenad named Maryann — was less consistent, but it certainly had its moments, and it had the side benefit of involving every character who wasn't in Dallas. That meant that the show didn't need to go out of its way to incorporate a scene featuring Sam or Andy every week, because both characters were involved in the Maryann storyline.

'True Blood': This week in manufactured 'True Blood' controversy.... LA Times
It seems like kind of a ridiculous question, honestly. The show's developer, Alan Ball, is an openly gay man, and the show is based around vampires, monsters well known for what one of my friends calls their "ambi-sexuality." The idea of the vampire's bite has been used by any number of writers as a kind of fill-in for sexuality, and the fact that vampires will bite pretty much anyone -- including animals -- to get the blood they so need to survive has been used to stand in for all manner of sexual behaviors and kinks over the years. (I mean, the other big vampire series of the moment -- "Twilight" -- is all about a vampire who won't use his bite to make his girlfriend a vampire until they're married, which is a metaphor so bald-faced it shouldn't even count as symbolism.) So, honestly, when the vampires on "True Blood" start making out with other guys, it doesn't strike me as terribly surprising. It's just the show making subtext into text. I get that some people find this offensive, but I always wonder just why they feel compelled to watch "True Blood" -- a show that takes perverse joy in all manner of sexual and violent behavior, from lewd to comparably chaste -- in the first place.

True Blood’s Carrie Preston on Playing Arlene, Dying Her Hair, and Being Married to Ben From Lost
On a sanguinary series like True Blood, there are all sorts of bursts of shocking red, but none pops more than the brassy hairdo on top of the equally brassy waitress Arlene, played by Carrie Preston. This season, Arlene’s had plenty to deal with, including an unwanted pregnancy from her bad seed ex, a vampire coworker at Merlotte’s, and the mysterious machinations of Holly (Lauren Bowles), who seems oddly invested in Arlene’s pregnancy. Preston talked to Movieline about those juicy moments, her character’s “drag queen” looks, her husband (Lost’s Michael Emerson), and her impressively Law and Order-studded resume.
Now, I love all your comic moments on the show, but that scene recently where you broke down with Holly was actually kind of a dramatic powerhouse. Was it fun for you to do something that was less wink-wink than Arlene often can be?
I cannot tell you how thrilled I was with that. Alex Woo, who wrote that episode…each of our writers pretty much writes two episodes per season, and the first episode Alex wrote, we were on set and doing the scene where I’m in the doctor’s office and I find out I’m pregnant. Alex said to me, “You know what, I have to apologize to you.” And I said, “What?” And he said, “I haven’t given you enough in this episode. I need to write something better for you, and I promise that I will.” Then that episode you’re referring to came up, and he was good for his word.
I was so thrilled because I think it was high time for us to see another side of that character, and I think that’s what this whole season has been about: delving deeper into all the series regulars and getting involved in all their personal lives. It was very nice to be included in that, and it was fun to play that scene with Lauren Bowles, who’s new on the show. To play with a woman of equal age to me, it was great to have that kind of energy between two women that we haven’t seen on the show.

Sookie book 11 " Dead Reckoning " description released by Amazon UK
With her knack for being in trouble’s way, Sookie witnesses the firebombing of Merlotte’s, the bar where she works. Since Sam Merlotte is now known to be two-natured, suspicion falls immediately on the anti-shifters in the area. But Sookie suspects otherwise and she and Sam work together to uncover the culprit – and the twisted motive for the attack. But her attention is divided. Though she can’t ‘read’ vampires, Sookie knows her lover Eric Northman and his ‘child’ Pam well – and she realises that they are plotting to kill the vampire who is now their master. Gradually, she is drawn into the plot -which is much more complicated than she knows. Caught up in the politics of the vampire world, Sookie will learn that she is as much of a pawn as any ordinary human – and that there is a new Queen on the board . . .

Anna Paquin makes : The Top 10 Most DANGEROUS Celebrities To Search
The movie stars top the latest list of the most dangerous celebrities to search for online, according to new research by computer-security software maker McAfee Inc.
It's far from an Oscar, but landing atop McAfee's annual list carries a distinction all its own: It means that criminals believe those celebs are the perfect lures to sucker people into visiting malicious websites.
Clicking onto strange sites is sketchy to begin with. But many people do, and their computers get infected. Once a computer is infected, criminals can steal victims' online banking passwords, e-mail passwords, and do other kinds of nasty deeds.

Charlaine Harris book and blog: what's she's reading and what it's like to be a writer these days
Charlaine's blogs this week is as always about what she's reading but she also writes about what it's like being a writer these day. She highly recommends Columbine , it's non- fiction and about exactly what you think it's about and it's really, really good....
Books of the Week:
* Columbine, Dave Cullen
* Married with Zombies, Jesse Petersen
* From Hell With Love, Simon R. Green
These three books couldn’t have provided a greater contrast, obviously. Though I hesitated to revisit the pain and anguish of the event, I’d heard so much about Columbine that I thought I’d try it. Anticipating I wouldn’t finish it, I even bought a used copy. To my surprise, I read it quickly and without a pause. Cullen’s style and his conclusions after an intensive study of all the available material make the pages fly by; it’s both understandable and suspenseful. And if you remember the first conclusions thrown out by the press – that Harris and Klebold were two bullied geeks determined to kill the jocks who’d persecuted them – you’re in for a shock. Frankly, I’m glad my children were out of the awkward-teen phase when I read this book.

Sookie Stackhouse, the Self-Educated Vampire's Girlfriend
ummm ..Jason went to college, its not that they are uneducated family. Sookie cant be in a classroom as she is too distracted by all the minds talking. I will say as the books has progressed --she is more in control ( she credits Bill) maybe she could take online courses from Renard Parish Junio College ??
I was talking to a Very Dear Friend Who Shall Remain Nameless To Protect Her Pleasure Reading Habits recently about the Southern Vampire mysteries, on which True Blood is based. One of the things we agreed on that we really liked about the books is that the main character, the tough-but-adorable Sookie Stackhouse, is self-educated. Given that Sookie is supernatural herself, and rather lusciously attractive to a range of smokin' vampires and shape-shifters, that's perhaps not the thing that should most make her stand out, but it's an oddly appealing characteristic.
Sookie is, for those not in the know (but not remotely a spoiler), a telepath. Charlaine Harris, to her credit, treats this extremely sensibly (something she actually does well with most of her supernatural creations). Sookie works as a barmaid, because the job only requires so much attention, and it's awfully hard to concentrate when other people's thoughts keep running through your consciousness like radio stations coming in and out of tune. She couldn't swing college, because trying to nail down coursework when you're surrounded by insane adolescents newly turned on to independence was, um, distracting. She doesn't have a lot of money, so she doesn't really travel. As a result, what Sookie knows about the world, she basically learned herself.

'True Blood' Star Rutina Wesley Talks Emmys, the Big Finale & Celeb Perks (VIDEO)
As Sookie Stackhouse's best friend Tara on 'True Blood,' Rutina Wesley has seen it all -- her alcoholic mom losing her mind, her pal falling for a vampire, the love of her life getting killed while the whole town was under the influence of a crazy maenad. You know, the usual.
With only two episodes left in this third rollercoaster of a season, Wesley laughed about Tara's situation -- "she's been sort of out of her mind!" -- but agrees with fans that it'd be nice for Tara to get stronger, and maybe even find love again. So what did she dish about the big season finale? "Fun" and "bloody" were two adjectives, if that gives you any indication.

Exclusive: Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer's True Blood Costar Reveals His Musical Wedding Gift!
Todd Lowe plays sweetheart Terry Bellefleur on True Blood and yesterday we chatted with him at Kari Feinstein's Emmy Style Lounge in Beverly Hills. The actor shared his amazement at the paparazzi madness surrounding Anna and Stephen's wedding last weekend and told us about his special gift for the newlyweds. While the show's resident nice guy insisted that he's sworn to secrecy on the upcoming finale, he did weigh in on what's to come next season and whether he might be the next male castmember to go shirtless. Here's more:
PopSugar: This was a big weekend for Anna and Stephen. Were you at the wedding?
Todd Lowe: I did! I have a band and my band played there. . . my playing for them was my gift. . . This was my first time dealing with paparazzi in helicopters and boats. We saw them down standing on the beach and we thought they were surfers waiting for the right tide, and it's like, no, they all have cameras with amazing, high-powered lenses.
PS: All the men on True Blood are in such great shape. How do you stay fit with the shooting schedule?
TL: I don't. I'm not one of those guys. I mean, I'm not like Ryan and Joe and Mechad.

True Blood’s Rutina Wesley: A Sam And Tara Reunion Wouldn’t Suck
This has been a difficult season for ‘True Blood’s‘ Tara. An obsessed vampire tortured her and attempted to turn her. Her best friend is more concerned about her vampire boyfriend than her. To top it all off, she just found out her good friend and longtime crush killed the love of her life. Fortunately, bad times for Tara are good for Rutina Wesley, the actress who brings her to life. She is thrilled with her meaty storyline. With the season finale rapidly approaching, Wesley reveals why it will be difficult to beat King Russell, how a Sam and Tara union could work, and what it was like to attend co-stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer’s wedding.
You attended Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin’s wedding last weekend. What was that like?
It was wonderful and beautiful and everything I expected it to be. It was magical to see two people who work together find love. To see them united was just magical. That’s the only word for it.

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer got hitched this past weekend! Congratulations to one cute couple who rock the beach attire like no others!
Would that I could squee with the same delight over last night’s episode. And how unfortunate that it was titled “I Smell a Rat” because the online stinkin’ flingin’ had begun before the episode had even ended. Something just didn’t click. The material was all there. The revelations were huge. Everyone was having a good hair day. There was even a hunky hustler, 90210′s Michael Steger.
So, what happened? I’m just taking a hit off of Jesus’ mad intuition skills, but I think everyone was working off Sam’s hangover or in need of a nap. They don’t all have to be winners, folks. Just the same, I think we’ll shelve “I Smell a Rat” near the back with the rodenticide.
We learn that Sookie is a fairy. That in itself should have been a big deal and worthy of a flashback or moment of thoughtful contemplation on her part. But Sookie thinks it’s lame. Has she forgotten that fairies come with Go-Go Gadget Super Duber Electric Hands? She’s a walking defibrillator, for crying out loud. Not to mention, after three seasons of only metaphorically saving Bill’s life with her sweet, sweet looove, her blood appears to offer vampires a temporary sun shield of sorts. At the very least, her blood is delicious and nutritious! Also filed under Missed Opportunities, when Bill tells Sookie she’s a fairy, how hilarious would it have been if she’d replied, “What the f-ck am I?!” (See what I did there?)

Lindsay Pulsipher Talks True Blood Revelations- Huffington Post
I’m a huge True Blood fan. I’ve read the books, I’ve watched every episode. As far as I’m concerned, vampires have not overstayed their welcome. Alright, maybe the Twilight vampires. I just got a chance to chat with Lindsay Pulsipher who plays Jason Stackhouse’s love interest, Crystal. (I did her makeup for the upcoming film, Do Not Disturb.) She had a pretty big revelation this week. And yes, we do mention what it was. If you’re afraid of spoilers, I’ll mark it in the question so you can skip that one. Lindsey gives us all the info about playing a character who is constantly sporting a black eye, nudity on camera and what it’s been like to work with an engaged couple planning a wedding on set. Of course I’m talking about the recently married Anna Paquin and Steven Moyer. She also lets us know what it’s like to have wild animals on set. No, I’m not talking about her co-stars. (Please, Charlaine Harris fans. If you’ve read the books, don’t spoil plot points in the comments section without a spoiler alert!)
Did you watch the show before you auditioned for True Blood?
I did! Yeah.
Did you know what character you wanted to play?
Well, you know I hadn’t ever read the books. I hadn’t read the books yet, so I didn’t know who Crystal was. And when I got the audition, she was described as this mysterious girl who runs through the woods. That was all I knew. [laughs] So I really didn’t know where they were taking her and what was happening. I was surprised when I found out who she was in the books. I thought, oh this will be a really fun character to play.

‘True Blood’ Character Spotlight: Five Reasons To Love Lafayette Reynolds
Lafayette Reynolds is quirky, charismatic and careful. Undoubtedly, he’s one of the most interesting characters on “True Blood.” Like most of the characters on the show, Lafayette has been irrevocably shaped by the supernatural experiences of Bon Temps, Louisiana. He’s handled it with style and class, which is part of his charm. Here are five reasons to love Lafayette.
What you see is what you get. There are certain things that everyone knows about Lafayette. He’s gay, he’s a dealer, sometimes he sells his body and he’s really good with makeup. There are things most people don’t know about him, too: his mom is institutionalized and he’s very spiritual in the privacy of his own home. Although he has a private life like most people, he doesn’t exactly hide things—Lafayette’s just really good at keeping things chill and avoiding trouble. In return, he’s able to be himself in an otherwise conservative environment and he doesn’t have to apologize for who he is.

Ebay bidding is open for True Blood Sock of Destiny - Stephen Moyer/Bill Compton
There are lots of sites that are doing some kind of charity work connected to the varied interests of the stars themselves. But there are sooo many going on at any time that I don't really post about them.
But this is a great item on ebay with all proceeds going to benefit the gulf coast aid.

Charlaine Harris: In her blood -Writers Digest
In the current issue of Writer’s Digest, we have a profile of Charlaine Harris, the delightful and hilarious author behind the Southern Vampire Mysteries—the basis for the HBO series “True Blood.”
But even though the story is on newsstands, I still have a mountain of leftover notes from the interview. So rather than let them sit dormant in my WD vault forever (insert egregious vampire-stuck-in-coffin pun here), here are some of the highlights and outtakes from the interview with Harris—in which she talks about everything from why she tends to stick to first person to the future of her vampire series and, yes, how she owns her own custom fangs. As always, a regular writing prompt follows. (And for a prompt directly from Harris, click here.)
How old were you when you first felt the need to write, or where did it come from in your history?
“That was always my secret identity. Other kids want to be other things, but all I ever wanted to be, really, was a writer.”
[You became a full-time writer after your husband presented you with an electric typewriter and an offer to stay home and work on your material.] Is writing full time an important development for a writer?
“It is. It was for me. I know a lot of writers who are still coming home in the evening from their day jobs and writing. That would be incredibly hard.”
Did you ever feel compelled to give up over the years?
“Oh, no. No, that’s where just burying my head in the sand had its uses. Because I thought, well, I’m just gonna keep going, I’m just gonna keep on doing whatever I can think of to do and it’ll just work out somehow. And it did. But of course I had the luxury of doing that because my husband’s a chemical engineer and he was able to support me and the kids. If it had been my income that was my sole means of support, I certainly would have reacted differently.”

MTV figures out that "From 'Twilight' to 'True Blood:' Vamps Have Made Hollywood $7 Billion"
If you were worried this fangtastic vampire fad was going to meet an eternal death soon, well, that doesn't seem likely, according to a report done by The Hollywood Reporter (and anyone hoping to make money in Tinseltown right now). According to THR's calculations, the vampire phenomenon has generated over $7 billion since "Twilight" first hit theaters in 2008. That is less than two years.
What has helped make vampires so successful is not just the love affair between Edward and Bella, though that's definitely part of it. Stephenie Meyer made vampires more romantic and less scary and made millions because of it. That started a trend that moved from books to films to television, selling music and merchandise along the way, and has paid off wonderfully for all of those involved. And the world just seems to be begging for more, more, more.
Don't believe us? Click after the jump to see the breakdown of how much money vampires have made across these different media.

Sex please, we're vampires
''ALL anyone's thinking about here is sex, sex, sex!'' bemoans mind reader Sookie Stackhouse, the hyper-sexualised protagonist of True Blood. ''Well you don't need to be telepathic to pick up on that,'' quips her 170-year-old vampire lover, Bill.
A glorious marriage of best-selling fantasy writer Charlaine Harris and screen genius Alan Ball (Six Feet Under, American Beauty), the series is the much-lauded crown jewel of HBO's post-Sex-and-Sopranos era.

Entertainment biz fangful for vampires
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Hollywood has repeatedly peddled the apocalyptic threat from aliens, machines, comets, viruses and zombies, but who was watching the vampires?
Never exactly absent from the entertainment scene, those eternal bloodsuckers lately have infiltrated everything from big screens and little screens to bookstore shelves, clothing racks, download services, video games and video, record and jewelry stores.
The low-budget Fox/New Regency "Twilight" parody "Vampires Suck" has grossed $20 million in its first six days, and 5 million regular viewers are rabidly following HBO's newest hit, "True Blood," as it swoops toward its season 3 finale September 12. Meanwhile, Justin Cronin's "The Passage," Stephenie Meyer's "Breaking Dawn" and Charlaine Harris' "Dead and Gone" hover on best-seller lists.
