True Blood - Episode 1.06 / "Half of You" - Cat Power
Anna Paquin shows her goodies for the first time, going topless as Sookie while getting some from vampire boyfriend Bill, all to the sounds of Cat Power's "Half of You." The consummation of their relationship (which also involves some double-penetration via fangs) reminds us once again that this HBO vampire series is no Twilight.

Sookie is a Fantasy Hero for 2008

I was glad to see Sookie listed in Oliver's Fantasy Hero Llist for 2008. I think she is more of a hero in the books than she is portrayed in the TV series

The telepathic waitress is a simple young woman who occasionally does the gutsy thing. She saved a helpless vampire from human muggers, and sometimes helps out strangers with her unusual gift.

Best of New Orleans - 2008 Year In Review: High Notes

Louisiana musicians were at their best in 2008. Lil Wayne put Hollygrove on the map with he Recording Academy finally recognized Cajun and zydeco music with its own Grammy Award category and Preservation Hall started an excellent series of recordings on its own label. Below are some of the past year's standout moments.

Best apparently undead Louisiana artist: C.C. Adcock. The guitarist played in a vampire wedding band on an episode of the bayou-based vampire soap opera True Blood. It was unclear whether he was supposed to be a vampire or not, but he looked pretty sinister.

Moonlight was canceled, but vampires returned to TV on True Blood. After a slow start, the new HBO series picked up in a big way and became a perfect combination of horror, mystery, romance and small town soap opera. Plus, it's got a great cast of characters including Sam the shapeshifter, Sookie the telepath and her vampire lover Bill. When the first season ended last month, True Blood had developed into one of the best shows on television.

Vampires left their mark in the world of film, too. Twilight became a monster hit not only on the book shelves but also on the big screen. Although Stephenie Meyer’s series of young adult novels came to an unfortunate end with the poorly written Breaking Dawn, the film versions are just getting started. The first sequel New Moon is already in the works with a brand-new director attached and a release date set for next November.

Meanwhile, Let the Right One In proved to be not only the best horror film of the year, but one of the best films period. In fact, it topped David Ansen’s list in Newsweek.

USA Today Television 2008 - Best of Part II

USA Today posted its choices for the Best TV Shows of 2008 and listed True Blood in the Top Ten. (see the post from last night )
They also were the "odd trend of the year" for have a " love with the living " theme.

Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgard( for Generation Kill ) were both listed in the Top Ten Performers ( male ) category.

Anna Paquin was listed as Top Ten Performers ( women ).

Alex (Eric) Skarsgard was also recognized as being part of the Best Miniseries for Generation Kill !

USA Todays 2008 Best TV Year in Review - True Blood is a winner !

USA Today posted its choices for the Best TV shows this year.

It listed True Blood as one of the Top 10 Best TV shows of the year, as well as recognizing Stephen Moyer ( finally -THANK GOD ) and Anna Paquin for best actress and actor.

Alex ( Eric) Skarsgard was recognized as being part of the Best mini-series for Generation Kill !
HBO just cleaned up.

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, and the fascinating actors who surround them, help make True Blood one of the premium network's best series in a werewolf's age. And the show is helping to revive HBO's fortunes, which have been sagging in the shadow of Showtime's more-than-10-percent growth the last two years.

After a slow start, True Blood viewership has grown consistently, topping six million a week and putting these vampire chronicles on the way to becoming HBO's third-most-popular show ever, after The Sopranos and Sex and the City.

4. "True Blood" Lafayette Says 'You Got Served!'

As one of only three new shows I picked up during the Fall 2008 season, I became more obsessed with "True Blood." I am inordinately infatuated with the world, the mythology and the dialogue these crazy characters get to say.

I had an extremely difficult time picking one scene from this show -- Bill and Sookie having graveyard sex was a very close second -- but thanks to Lafayette's fabulous earring removal, I was incapable of ignoring his white trash smack down from episode five.
