Jace Everett grateful for True Blood

HBO saved Jace Everett’s career, and he is in no way shy about admitting that.
“My career was out on cinderblocks in the front yard when [True Blood] happened,” Everett, a Nashville-based singer-songwriter, said.
Everett’s song “Bad Things” carries the opening credits of the HBO hit show that stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer.
For Everett, “True Blood” has done more than give him airtime.
“It gave me confidence,” he said. That confidence began before the show even aired, influencing his 2009 album “Red Revelations.”
“We knew that “True Blood” was going to happen, so [with “Red Revelations”] we did that swampy sound,” Everett said. “I love that kind of music.”
It’s important to note Everett’s love for the music he is able to create today. He hasn’t always had that luxury

CC Adcock, and Jace Everett and Faux Blood festival

I can't recommend more highly going to St Francisville !

Faux Blood Music Festival
Location : St. Francisville, La

In honor of Halloween and the fact that HBO’s hit True Blood has been mostly filmed in Louisiana, the newest music festival to haunt the hills of West Feliciana Parish tunes up on the grounds of the 3V Tourist Court/Magnolia Café on Halloween weekend. Eight bands will be doing their part to ring in All-Hallows Eve, including Chuck Prophet, CC Adcock, and Jace Everett. They’ll be playing on an outdoor stage well supplied with the good food and drinks that have kept folks flocking back to the little corner of Commerce Street known as Bohemianville, for the best part of thirty years now. $20.(225) 721-7003.

Jace Everett from his blog…

“Hey kids,

On October 31st, Dan and I will be headed to the swamps of Louisiana with my favorite mouth breather, Chuck Prophet. Old Charlie has put together what we hope will be an annual event: Faux Blood Fest!! (boo!) The two day event at the Magnolia Cafe will feature some great Louisiana musicians, some swamp rockers, and some of us knuckle draggers lucky enough to get songs on True Blood!”

'True Blood': Jace Everett on the songs that will begin and end Season 3

When one hears "Bad Things," the theme song to HBO's "True Blood," it sticks with you. Not only does it frame the series well, but the deep, haunting voice is hard to put out of your head. Jace Everett is the man who owns that voice.

And when the show approached him, his country music career was ready for the jolt. He had previously been signed with Sony and after releasing an album with them in 2005, the label dropped him the next year.

"So really what was going on with me before ['True Blood'] was not a whole damn lot," Everett tells Zap2it. "I was working really hard and making very little money."

JACE EVERETT PLAYS THE ENGLERT JUNE 17 in Iowa City, Iowa

Iowa City, IA - JACE EVERETT will perform at the Englert Theatre Thursday, June 17th at 7 PM. The concert kicks off a three-part evening that also features a reception with author Charlaine Harris and the screening of the third season premier episode of HBO's hit series, TRUE BLOOD®.
Concert tickets are only $15, and available at the Englert Box Office, Mon-Fri 1:00-6:00 PM, 221 E Washington Street, or online via www.englert.org
Just "Google" Jace Everett's name and you'll find yourself knee-deep in the ooh's and ahh's of daily papers from Boston to Chicago and Seattle that can't discuss HBO's rocketing Golden Globe-honored drama TRUE BLOOD® without mentioning the brilliant opening title montage, devised around the swampy rockabilly come-on of Everett's "Bad Things."
RED REVELATIONS, the new album by the Nashville-based singer-songwriter, is a work of rare accomplishment and abandon, brimming with barely-contained emotions and urges. They are pervasive in the music, the voice and the songwriting. The primal, penetrating power of Everett's roots-music fusion, revving up from insinuation to howling gale-force rock in a second.
"We are really looking forward to having Jace on the Englert stage," says Englert Development Director Nancy Mayfield. "Here is an opportunity to see a star on the rise, to say 'I was there' when Jace Everett becomes a household name

True Blood puts in the limelight: Jace Everett

A TV show about vampires brought Jace Everett's song back from the dead. Bad Things wasn't even a single back in 2006 when Everett released his self-titled debut. Instead, the major label he'd signed with was pushing That's the Kind of Love I'm In, a more radio-friendly song for contemporary country radio stations. That song made a little headway, but Everett's run in the big leagues was short-lived. Then TV producer Alan Ball found Bad Things on iTunes.
Now the song is a part of one of the most stylish intros for any active TV show, that of HBO's True Blood. Everett's growling voice slips through his brazenly carnal song like a predator. It's paired with video clips — mostly of a sexual, religious and/or deathly nature — a consummate marriage of sound and visual.
“It's embarrassingly simple,” Everett says of his (and his song's) sudden fame. “Alan Ball is an iTunes junkie. He discovered the song, and I won the lottery.”

TheCelebrityCafe talks to Jace Everett

TheCelebrityCafe had the chance to speak with Jace Everett, writer/singer of the theme song for HBO's hit True Blood. His latest album, Red Revelations, is a smoky, searing blend of blues, country, and bourbon-flavored rock. Bluntly honest throughout the interview, the Texas-twanged singer revealed intelligent insight into life, music, and why he prefers Kierkegaard to keggers.

TCC: The intro to True Blood -- pretty intense! The imagery and your music make for a powerful ride. Are you a fan of the show?

JE: I am a fan. I thought the intro was awesome: it was ridiculous and sexy and fun. I liked it.

TCC: Since I saw in your Twitter bio that you're annoyed at being "the True Blood guy," I promise that'll be my only question about the show.

JE: (laughing) Nah, I don't mind at all being that. I was just being a prick.

TCC: Who did you listen to growing up?

JE: Oh, everybody. I'm a fan of Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Elvis..all those guys were playing at home.

Jace " True Blood- Bad Things " Everett June 8th re-release of Red Revelations album and new tour dates

Wrasse Records has announced the June 8th US re-release of Red Revelations, the critically acclaimed newest album by Nashville bluesman Jace Everett. Everett is currently best-known as the growly and seductive-voiced composer and singer of the HBO hit vampire series "True Blood" theme song, aptly titled "Bad Things." As it turns out, UK fans across the pond have so embraced the series which was being shown on a small satellite channel when Wrasse Records head Ian Ashbridge noticed the huge effect the song had on sales of Everett's previous album. The label scrambled to sign the artist and rush released Red Revelations in the UK and Europe. The results were so impressive that the album is now being re-released in the US through powerhouse Universal Music via Fontana Distribution.

"We researched and noticed that the new album was not released in Europe and quickly arranged to release the album in October 2009, to coincide with the Channel 4 opening of 'True Blood,'" said Ashbridge. "'Bad Things' instantly went on the radio 2 playlist where it stayed for over 6 weeks -- and Red Revelations went on to sell over 50,000 units throughout Europe, over 20,000 alone in the UK." Glowing UK reviews followed in the same fashion as the US press: Colin Hall's four star review in Rock 'n' Reel magazine raves the "Indiana-born, Texas-raised Jace Everett cuts tough sounding, hard rockin' records... moody and atmospheric, his original songs are heavy on big twanging guitars and hurt, impassioned vocals."

Plans are underway for the upcoming US re-launch which will coincide with "True Blood" season three. Red Revelations will feature re-designed packaging for the re-launch. Everett just completed three Scandinavian dates with UK dates, including Ireland and Scotland, immediately following. US tour dates will begin in June.

Red Revelations is the third studio album by Everett, renowned for writing and performing irresistibly charged-up rockabilly tunes such as the opening theme of the Golden Globe-honored HBO series. In addition to the Globe nod, "True Blood" also received a Grammy nomination for best soundtrack. On the eve of its original release, Jace Everett and his band debuted the entire album live in Nashville which was also web-casted, reflecting the deep authenticity of Red Revelations, as well as the star's proven ability to get this close to listeners in recordings and onstage, through his authoritative, cinematic, often sly, and thoroughly distinctive roots-music fusion of blues, rock and country.

The album was produced in part by Chuck Prophet (Green on Red) and in part by Everett, and was originally released as vinyl, CD and digital release on Weston Boys/Haywood Group label.

The "True Blood" complete first-season DVD and Blue-Ray disc, released by HBO, and the soundtrack album on Elektra/Atlantic, both featuring "Bad Things" as the opening song, are currently available at physical and digital retail. A follow-up soundtrack will feature an acoustic version of "Bad Things." Everett is a 2009 BMI Cable Award winner as the composer of "Bad Things." He is also the co-writer of the No. 1 country smash "Your Man," by Josh Turner.

Everett shows True Blood in concert

From Daily 49

People who craved post-Halloween music watched Jace Everett perform at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach.

More than 100 people came to watch Everett perform Sunday night, including the theme song of the HBO show about vampires, “True Blood.”

Alex’s Bar, also known as Fangtasia on the HBO series, is a punk rock/dive bar and is definitely not where just-turned-21 youngsters will be found.

It is a great bar where people can go to drink a good beer or cocktail and listen to live music. It has an original autographed portrait of Johnny Cash and a portrait of the king of rock and roll, Elvis.

Everett’s performance in the bar, filled with fans dressed up as “True Blood” characters, felt like an alternative world where vampires hung out.

“It was good timing,” said June Bonakdar, a fan of the show. “I am a big fan and we have wanted to come to Fangtasia for a while.”

Everett’s music has an irresistible charm that will make people want to sway or tap their feet to the music. He sings like Chris Isaak and
he knows how to control his baritone voice to hit high and low notes.

Introducing: True Blood Theme Song Singer Jace Everett

From People Magazine

Though there are only three episodes left to the second season of the eerie, sexy HBO series True Blood, it's not too late to meet the voice behind the hit show's theme song "Bad Things." Indiana native Jace Everett's cinematic country blues runs deep on his latest record Red Revelations, out now.

Here are five things to know about the husky-voiced crooner:

True Blood inspires his song writing: Though the show's theme song was picked from a tune Everett wrote "a while back," there are a few tunes penned from watching the show. "'Burn For You' was written after the episode where Bill catches on fire after trying to save Sookie," says Everett. "'Damned if I Do' is a love song," he adds. "Now, I've never actually been love with a vampire, but it could be a love song between a vampire and a human."

'True Blood' fame propels Everett into spotlight

Our friend, the wonderful Jace Everett will be in Iowa this Friday!

Nashville has a tradition of producing musicians who are, well, not traditional, and yet they find success in the music industry. The names Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Steve Earle come to mind. Jace Everett, 37, hopes that he can become one of them, but if not, he can live with that too.

"I spent most of my life burning bridges," Everett said via phone from his home in Texas. "I am just not interested in trying to be part of the mainstream by changing who I am to fit into it."

Everett feels a special kinship with Nelson, whose album "Red-headed Stranger" was what turned him on to music. "He crosses all the musical borders and unwittingly I have followed that track."

Everett did brush shoulders with the mainstream in 2005 with the recording of his eponymous solo effort, but it left a bad taste in his mouth. "There was a lot of compromise on that album," Everett said.
