HBO GO Coming to Time Warner Cable

Time Warner Cable customers who subscribe to HBO or Cinemax will soon get to use HBO GO and MAX GO, the premium cable networks’ instant-streaming services.

TWC announced the deal Friday night, saying subscribers will be able to access movies, documentaries, original series and more on any computer, iPad or other mobile devices.
On HBO GO, viewers will have access to 1,400 titles such as Game of Thrones, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos Sex and the City and Deadwood. They’ll also get to watch HBO original films, miniseries, sports, documentaries, specials and blockbuster theatricals. MAX GO offers 400 titles including movies, indies, cult favorites, the MAX After Dark series and primetime series.
Most new content uploads to both services as the content premieres on the networks. Viewers also will get the “Watchlist” that keeps track of bookmarked content for later viewing; bonus content including interviews, recaps and behind-the-scenes extras; and customizable views showing titles in slideshow, grid or list format.
Once the services launch, Time Warner Cable customers can access them at HBOGO.com or MAXGO.com using their TWC usernames and passwords.

Earlier this year, HBO released HBO GO apps for Android and iOS. HBO GO launched in February 2010 and already is available to HBO subscribers of AT&T U-verse, Charter Communications, Comcast, Cox Communications, DirecTV, Dish Network, Google TV, Suddenlink Communications and Verizon FIOS.

Going For Blood (True Story)

Despite the abysmal trends in the homevideo marketplace (sales have fallen about $1 billion a year to $10 billion this year), the marketing team at HBO has breathed new life into its retail sales with the living dead. Yup, you guessed it, the vampires of “True Blood.”

Sofia Chang, senior vice president-retail marketing at HBO, rattled off some impressive media metrics to prove that, but it was the one she cited about actual “True Blood” sales – the drink, not the show – that really impressed me.

'True Blood' Stars Say It Gets Better Kristin " Pam" Bauer and Alex "Eric" Skarsgard - "It Gets Better" video

For those of you who couldn't get enough of Eric on last night's episode of "True Blood," don't worry because the Swedish actor is featured--along with his castmates, Rutina Wesley, Kristin Bauer, and creator Alan Ball--in a new set of "It Gets Better" PSA's.

The project, which was started last fall by writer Dan Savage in response to a wave of very public LGBT youth suicides, has had many celebrity contributors since its creation, but this is the first time the "True Blood" cast has taken part in the project.

The hit HBO show has been labeled "The Most Gay-Friendly Show on TV," and its story lines often revolve around "vampire rights," tolerance and acceptance.

Join the cast of True Blood as they take the “It Gets Better” pledge: http://www.itgetsbetter.org. The Trevor Project offers help to any young person who is struggling.

The Trevor Project is determined to end suicide among LGBTQ youth by providing life-saving and life-affirming resources including our nationwide, 24/7 crisis intervention lifeline, digital community and advocacy/educational programs that create a safe, supportive and positive environment for everyone.

HBO Capitalizes On 'Blood,' 'Thrones," Launches Site

Eager to harness some of the social-media activity around shows "True Blood" and "Game of Thrones," HBO is launching a site to generate conversation and interaction. HBO Connect is debuting with a section prompting hungry "True Blood" fans to link up in advance of the show's return in late June.
The vampire show's TBwithdrawal.com microsite allows easier connections via Twitter hashtags, one of which is #waitingsucks, and other functions.
With conversation and connections flying all over the Web about its series, HBO is hoping to toss in some marketing messages. One of the goals is to offer a "second screen" experience, where viewers can use the site while watching. Users can log in via their Facebook and Twitter accounts and use capabilities such as "Pulse," which provides easy real-time access to popular HBO-related discussion topics and content.
There is also "Feed," which grabs all social-media content about a series, allowing interaction with Twitter feeds and each other.

True Blood and the new HBO Go app for phones and iPads !

HBO has now joined the ranks of media companies offering streaming content direct to the iPad. Today, the new HBO Go app was released, which will allow HBO subscribers to watch their favorite shows and movies wherever they happen to be. It’s a free service provided to HBO subscribers, and will work on WiFi or 3G connections.
If you happen to be an HBO subscriber, you will now have access to all original HBO content plus movies on demand. Sadly, if you’re not a subscriber to cable and the additional HBO channels, you won’t be able to use this app. As of now, HBO does not offer an à la carte option like Netflix.
HBO’s content is unmatched, with shows such as True Blood, Entourage, Boardwalk Empire, The Wire, Six Feet Under, and the Sopranos. Plus HBO is always introducing the next great show – have you checked out their latest offering, Game of Thrones, yet? If you don’t subscribe, you may be interested now that you get so much more with your subscription fees. Did I mention that you’re not limited to current shows? That’s right, you can check out back episodes from shows that are no longer being produced.
In addition to shows and movies, HBO Go subscribers can access bonus features and behind the scene extras. The app also offers a customizable Watchlist that allows you to queue up shows you want to watch, and a Series Pass will automatically add shows that you want to follow in to your Watchlist.

True Blood AND HBO Go Apps Available On Your iPad and iPhone On May 2nd

HBO GO joined the online video streaming experience last year when it started bringing pay TV content to your PC. The service provides HBO subscribers access to hundreds of titles including HBO Original Series, movies, sports, and all of it comes in high-quality HD.
If that wasn’t enough, HBO has now teased us with a new video that shows the company’s streaming service hitting tablets and smartphones early next month.
HBO is planning to release apps for Apple’s iOS, as well as Android-based devices. The video below appeared on HBO’s YouTube channel, and teases us with the promise of allowing subscribers to enjoy “all your favorite HBO series, movies and more” with unlimited access to all HBO content.
The TV industry keeps leveraging online streaming services. It is definitely a way to bring additional value to subscribers and the millions that have embraced the new tablet era. HBO’s latest move is certainly a great way to show its subscribers that paid TV content can be made available almost everywhere you go.
The HBO GO apps and streaming service will be free of charge to HBO subscribers. According to the video, the HBO GO service and iOS apps will be released on May 2nd.
I can’t wait to get instant and unlimited access to Game of Thrones and the upcoming season of True Blood, conveniently from my iPad. Stay tuned, we will take a closer look at HBO GO on iOS devices as soon as it hits the market.

HBO Inside True Blood :The Concept Meeting

I just don't get this blog... I sure hope it gets better

by Gianna Sobol
THE MEETING: The Concept Meeting
WHERE IT TAKES PLACE: True Blood conference room
WHO ATTENDS: Alan Ball, Gregg Fienberg, the writer and director of each episode, and all department heads (costume designer, stunt coordinator, extras casting, etc)
WHAT IT’S ABOUT (according to 1st Assistant Director Sunday Stevens): "The concept meeting, led by the 1st Assistant Director, is the first meeting that brings all the department heads together.  We go through the script to discuss the different elements in each scene that have to be addressed.  For example, if we have an action scene with a panther, we have to discuss stunts, animal wrangling, make-up effects and visual effects to figure out how to make the sequence work on the day we shoot it.  This is a chance for each department head to figure out who should be doing what and how they can go about doing that.  It is essentially the beginning of prep for the department heads."

HBO Go expands TV and movie programming

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Cable TV network HBO is making nearly all its titles available for its HBO Go service, in a sign that parent Time Warner Inc is escalating the fight against movie renter Netflix.

HBO said on Wednesday it is putting more than 1,400 its shows, including every episode of "The Sopranos" and "True Blood," on the service that lets subscribers to the premium pay channel instantly watch programs through devices with broadband connections. Previously, HBO GO offered about 600 titles.

HBO Go is a version of Time Warner's TV anywhere concept, which lets cable, satellite and telephone subscribers access programing through computers, smartphones and tablet devices once they are authenticated as paying customers. The service is available for no extra cost to Comcast Xfinity TV, Verizon Fios, Cox Advanced TV and AT&T U-Verse customers.

Life after Tony Soprano

America's HBO cable TV channel prides itself on 'quality' series that are unfettered by commercial constraints. An interview with top execs Richard Plepler and Michael Lombardo.

PASADENA, California - HBO co-president Richard Plepler and programming president Michael Lombardo entered their posts as part of a new team after CEO Chris Albrecht quit in 2007. Albrecht left after Las Vegas police arrested him for beating his girlfriend. Not only did Lombardo and Plepler assume their roles as a storm raged behind the scenes, it was shortly before the network aired the final episode of its flagship series, "The Sopranos."

Comcast app allows for streaming True Blood on-demand to iPads!

Comcast on Wednesday updated its iPad app to allow customers to stream on-demand TV shows and movies to the Apple tablet.
Comcast subscribers with an iPad and the Comcast app can now access about 3,000 hours of content from Comcast's on-demand network at no extra charge. That includes movies and TV shows from HBO, Showtime, Starz, Encore, Cinemax and MoviePlex as well as TV shows from TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, and BBC America. Selections include "True Blood," "Dexter" and "Boardwalk Empire," as well as movies like "The Hangover," "An Education," and "The Blind Side," Comcast said.
The feature is available over Wi-Fi, with a 3G option coming in a future app update, Comcast said.
"Our focus for this first version of video streaming was to take advantage of the larger screen and mobile capability of the iPad, and deliver an immersive video experience," Matt Strauss, senior vice president and general manager of Comcast Interactive Media, wrote in a blog post. "We have many enhancements and feature updates planned for the coming months, and we'll also continue to evolve the video streaming feature based on customer feedback, including extending it to more handheld devices and platforms."

HBO Could Draw True Blood Online

There may be no TV channel better suited to offering an online version than Time Warner's premium cable network known for series like "True Blood" and "The Sopranos," as well as movies. It even has the marketing slogan to suit: "It's not TV. It's HBO."
Yet it is Netflix that is establishing itself as the online movie and TV show subscription service, this week reporting its subscriber count had reached 16.9 million. At this rate, Netflix could pass HBO rivals Showtime and Starz this quarter and near HBO's 29 million subscriber count

I don't take the Wall Street journal so I cant see rest of article ...sorry

HBO's True Blood Wins AdvertisingAward -MIXX Best in Show

Last night, the Interactive Advertising Bureau held its sixth annual MIXX Awards to "recognize the brand marketers and agencies responsible for the most innovative and effective interactive advertising of the year."
This year, Best in Show went to HBO's True Blood and Digital Kitchen for their "Hacking Reality" campaign for the second season launch of the vampire series. The work integrated digital and traditional media, with online, outdoor, print, stunts and a series of brand partnerships.
The second season of True Blood was teased through a mix of media tactics including vampires in faux blogs and online editorials as well as in traditional advertising and editorial takeovers. The strategy included co-branding with products like Geico, Harley-Davidson and Gillette, a host of classified ads, viral videos and a serialized weekly Inside Edition-type show covering all things vampire.
The worked seemed to have paid off since it resulted in True Blood season 2, episode 1, being the most-watched show on HBO On Demand, with an average of 12.6 million gross viewers per episode for the season, up 62% over the previous year.
