I recently did a Season 2 Spoiler show for my Blogtalk radio show, where we looked at what we might know about the upcoming episode by examining the title song for that episode.
I can't tell you how many emails I received from folks saying they felt so stupid for not realizing that the True Blood episodes were named for songs. It's OK but I thought it might be a good idea to look back at the song, the artist and the lyrics for each of last season's episode title songs.
So let's look back to Season 1, Ep 6: Cold Ground which originally aired : 10/12/2008
Cold Ground by Rusty Truck from the 2003 album Broken PromisesWhen it came time to record his first album, former Rolling Stone chief photographer Mark Seliger was savvy with his connections. He obviously befriended the right people along the way and his band, Rusty Truck, reaped the benefits. Broken Promises is the fruit of five years' work, a countrified, blues-tinged, no-nonsense rock & roll blend that's real in heart and soul. Rusty Truck gives Seliger the chance to prove himself on another level and it's a pleasant surprise. Having guest spots from the likes of Jakob Dylan, Lenny Kravitz, Sheryl Crow, and Willie Nelson doesn't hurt, but Seliger and co. make it known that this is more than an all-star bash. Broken Promises is a rare occasion, an emotive set of songs that explore genre-blending boundaries that gives back to the basics of rock & roll. From the easy-listening title track duet with Kravitz to the high lonesome gems with Gillian Welch and David Rawlings ("Cival Wars/Luck's Changing Lanes," "Tangled in the Fence"), the band's stripped compositions clue a listener in to Seliger's main intention of telling a story. Broken Promises doesn't do anything new as far as molding country and rock, but it's an honest effort and it's solid. Who knew Seliger was a real artist behind the lens? by MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
Lyrics:
They say that lightning strikes again
It's true a whisper might have done us some good
A big old house to play pretend
Lead you into bitter solitude
Chorus
I come to see you in the night
I wanna see you lying down, into that cold, cold, cold, cold ground
Close the door and turn the key
I locks the door
And it's time to sleep
And all those pretty treasures are deep
Once revealed inside a dream
Diamonds shine on a water's edge
Never make it back from sea
To pray for nothing short of breath
Oh no never do we breathe
Chorus
I come to see you in the night
I wanna see you lying down, into that cold, cold, cold, cold ground
They don't know what they don't see behind closed doors
Is it real or just something we have ignored
When little wings have been clipped and bound
And tied to this cold, cold, cold, cold ground
Chorus
I come to see you in the night
I wanna see you lying down, into that cold, cold, cold, cold ground

Ask Dallas : Welcome to Bill Compton's nightmare ....
O.K. here's a good question from AS
Q: What about the hands choking Sookie that we see in the Episode 6, Bill's nightmare scene.
Do we think they are Sam's ? Does Bill still think Sam might be the killer ?
A: Who knows how vampire's dream - I don't think Bill still suspects Sam at that point but this series of scenes are some of my favorite scenes of the whole season. I have posted about the "changing motivations and Bill now being trapped by love " before. Read it here
What do you guys think ?

You can watch it again here

True Blood Episode Six: 'Cold Ground' recap from HBO site
Sookie stands next to Gran's body, paralyzed by the sight of blood splattered across the kitchen. She opens her mouth to scream but can't make a sound, and a pale hand clamps onto her shoulder ... It's Bill. He comforts her for a moment then hears a creaking floorboard and attacks its source, which turns out to be Sam, saying he came to make sure Sookie got home safe. At this point, she's in a state of total shock, and they move her to the living room while waiting for the authorities to arrive.
Bud Dearborn, Andy Bellefleur and Mike Spencer begin their investigation in the kitchen, so Sam sits with Sookie on the front porch, taking a shot at apologizing but succeeding only at irritating her. She asks for Bill, and though Sam leaves to find him, he then warns the vampire to stay away from Sookie. "This isn't the time or the place to ... mark your territory," Bill replies.
The investigators, examining the evidence, discuss the case again. Andy regrets releasing Jason, though Bud doubts the man could have slaughtered his own grandmother. At this point Bill enters the room, agrees to answer their questions and explains that he thinks the killer had come looking for Sookie. Out on the porch, Sookie tries to reach her brother with the news, but when his phone rings on Randi Sue's nightstand, he grabs it and hurls it against the wall. So, when Mike and the police officers bring Gran's body outside, Sookie has only Sam and Bill to stand with her. Still, she refuses to leave the house and immediately heads into the kitchen to start cleaning up the mess.

Bill may have been sent by the Queen to seduce Sookie but instead Bill is trapped by love
I think in the True Blood series Alan Ball makes it very clear in this scene that Bill is NO longer motivated by edicts, duty, lust or blood. He truly loves Sookie ....
I think it's important that this follows his memories of his human family, his loss of them as well as the memories of his "turning" and relationship to Lorena.
In the books, Bill tells Sookie he did NOT want to even pretend to have a relationship with a human woman because he thought that it degraded him. The moment Bill's motivation changed is NOT as clear in the books as it seems to be in the series.
But his love for Sookie has become a trap for him as he later says to her on bk 8 " I did what I had been told to do by my queen. In so doing, I fell into a trap I couldn’t escape. I still can’t.”
I think Tara and Lafayette discussion cinches the scene.
T-Do you think they are capable of loving a person?
L- Who knows what they are capable of ?
