Ask Men : Anna Paquin Interview
When you win an Oscar at the age of 11, there are two directions you can go. You can vanish into the whirlpool of derelict child stars lost in a sea of excess at too early an age. Or you can settle into a long career of on-screen success by choosing a variety of roles that break you out of kid-actor stereotypes.
Anna Paquin obviously chose the latter path after she won Best Supporting Actress for The Piano in 1994. Since then, the Canadian/New Zealand hybrid took on a variety of distinct projects -- from X-Men and Almost Famous to The Squid and the Whale and her current starring role on HBO’s massively successful vampire series, True Blood.
As the new season of True Blood flows on, Paquin flourishes as the show’s central character, Sookie Stackhouse. In the books written by Charlaine Harris, everything plays out via Stackhouse’s first person experience, placing Paquin’s performance as an essential cornerstone of the TV adaptation.
Away from the set, Anna Paquin discussed life as the star of a cult hit and how she sees the role of Stackhouse against the backdrop of her already long career.
Sookie Stackhouse is a strong, stubborn woman. While most ladies would get out of Dodge on the Bayou when surrounded by vampires and Skinwalkers, your character endures and involves herself with them further. What about her keeps her mixed up with the monsters?

Comic-Con: 'True Blood' Star Anna Paquin on 'Really Dirty Vampire Sex'
Barely five minutes into the panel that spread the key "True Blood" actors across the stage in Ballroom 20, Anna Paquin was asked if her character Sookie had a split personality. She granted that part of Sookie was rather sedate, but “part of her has really dirty vampire sex on a regular basis — with possibly multiple vampires.”

Everyone Saying ‘Sookie’ on True Blood video
No main character on television has a name that's more fun to say out loud than True Blood's Sookie Stackhouse, and the show knows it: That's why the writers drop it into nearly every line. Here at Vulture, though, we're determined to take things one step further, and thus we've created this oddly hypnotizing Sookie Stackhouse supercut, which features the many, many times on the show that someone has drawled, hissed, or stumbled over Sookie's name. Good thing nobody has a lisp!

Paquin wants normal boy for Sookie
Anna Paquin has joked she hopes her character Sookie Stackhouse won't end up with a vampire or a werewolf like Bill, Eric or Alcide on True Blood.
"None of them," she laughed, speaking before attending a special Q&A with fans in LA.
Standing next to husband Stephen Moyer, who plays vampire Bill Compton on the show, she teased she wants Sookie to find "a nice normal boy, who's not a superhero!"
Fans queued for hours to hear the cast of the hit fantasy show talk at this year's PaleyFest in Beverly Hills.
"I still constantly feel lucky to be a full-time employed actor," Anna admitted.
"I think that in itself is kind of an amazing achievement to be able to say that your full-time career is in any creative arts, let alone a show that has kept people interested for coming on four seasons and hopefully more."
Filming for Season 4 is currently under way. Anna revealed she's loved watching Sookie grow and change as a character.
"I think that's what is really exciting about doing a series," she explained. "You do get more than two and half hours in the life of that character to evolve with them.
"From Season 1, if you just think about where everyone was when we first encountered them until now, everyone has had pretty major life events and changes and it's all very exciting as an actor."

What Is Sookie Stackhouse? A Look at the Evidence in ‘True Blood’
Tara for Culture mob does a nice break down of "Sookie facts " from True Blood and then deduces what she is based on the books !
The Facts (disclosed thus far in the series—no spoiler alert if you’re caught up):
- Sookie has telepathic abilities.
- Sookie can’t read the minds of vampires.
- She can read the minds of some other supernatural creatures such as shifters and weres.
- Bill and others seem to have been investigating Sookie’s lineage.
- Vampires take a special interest in Sookie and seem to have an attraction to her.
- When seriously threatened, Sookie can emit a light from her hand; this seems to stop those intending to harm her.
- When unconscious and in the hospital in the most recent episode, Sookie had an ethereal dream or vision in which she met one Claudine.
- Jason revealed that Sookie was born at home and had never been to the hospital prior to
her most recent emergency.
- Maryann Forrester was intrigued by Sookie’s nature, indicating that Sookie has an ability considered rare, even among supernatural beings.
- After feeding on Sookie, Bill receives few negative effects from sun exposure. While he took a lot of blood, this may be an indication that her blood is somehow heartier than that of other humans.
- The hospital was unable to determine Sookie’s blood type indicating that she ‘has no blood type.’
- Sophie, Louisiana’s queen, has taken a special interest in Hadley—revealed to be Sookie’s cousin.

Sookie and Bill : In Sookie's dream she and Bill frolic in the waves
We remember in True Blood Season 1 this image from Sookie's dream of living a normal life with Bill. In the dream, she comes down for breakfast in the morning and he's sitting at the table reading the newspaper and has made her a huge breakfast spread. She quickly realizes it's daytime and Bill shouldn't be out in the day time- by the time she can say anything , he's burst into flames- this makes her wake from the dream with a start.
Then I saw this photo and thought that this must be yet another wonderful Sookie dream sequence . Remember at the end of Season 1 when she and Sam talk about taking a trip to the coast ?( I don't think anyone would want a trip to the Louisiana gulf coast right now! )Maybe in this dream she dreams of taking just such a trip with Bill.
Isn't this just what it would look like ?
Ha! ;-)

Literary Lovers Mash-Up: Sookie & Edward Cullen
Today, we have our final story from our Literary Lovers Mash-Up Writing Contest entries. We asked you to write about two literary lovers meeting OR falling in love for the first time in about 500 words.
Today’s entry comes from P.Q. Glisson — whose story reads like a really cool, extremely well-written crossover fan fiction. P.Q. introduces a meeting between Sookie Stackhouse from The Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris & Edward Cullen from Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. I have to admit, the encounter written here is one I’ve imagined myself. Fans of both series will find something to giggle over here. Plus, the story is written in such a way that it’s meant to fit in with the existing story arch of both series.

Ladies, start your Sookie/Pam slashfic: Anna Paquin says she’s bisexual
From our friends at Camp Blood
OMG, what is that old traditionalist Bill Compton gonna have to say about THIS?!
Oh, I know: “SOOKIIEEEEEEHHHHH!”
In a rather unexpected moment of candor, Anna Paquin told the world that she is bisexual while recording a video PSA for the True Colors Fund, the LGBT visibility and awareness group started by the awesome (and totally straight) Cyndi Lauper.
Apparently no one was expecting Paquin to bring such a personal element to the PSA, as she has apparently never mentioned being bisexual in an interview before. Go Anna!

Sookie makes Parenting Magazine Best Baby Names of 2010
Ella and Aiden moved on up. This year - movie names, vampire monikers, and trends for 2010. By Kate Goodin, Parenting.com
Top names of 2009---Girl names
1. Ella
2. Ava
3. Grace
4. Lolita
5. Emma
6. Elizabeth
7. Genevieve
8. Aurora
9. Isabella
10. Bella
11. Charlotte
12. Lily
13. Saria
14. Sookie
While Jacob and Emma reigned as the top baby names of 2009 on Social Security's list, Parenting.com readers set their own naming trends. From vampires and Harry Potter to Obamarama and celeb picks, here's what you named your kids in '09 -- and what you might be naming them in 2010.
Vampire Mania: Bella, Jacob, Sookie
Vampires have invaded pop culture: books, movies, TV shows - why not baby names? Bella (Latin, beautiful) is a top 10 girls' pick, while Parenting.com readers are decidedly Team Jacob, at least when it comes to the name; Edward (English, prosperous guardian) didn't even make the top 100 (though Team Edward fans can rest easy knowing Jacob means "substitute".)
http://www.parenting.com/article/Pregnancy/Baby-Names/Best-Baby-Names-of-2010
The name Sookie (American, unknown) has crept into the top list for girls, which could be attributed to the star of Charlaine Harris' vampire series True Blood. But Sookie may also be a throwback to Gilmore Girls; Lorelei (German, seductress), Rory (Irish, famous brilliance), Luke (Latin, form of Lucius), and Logan (Irish, meadow), also characters on the show, are all top-100 names.

The Transcontinental Disability Choir: True Blood: Sookie Stackhouse, Telepathy, and Disability
From Bitch magazine
The Sookie Stackhouse novels, on which the hit series True Blood is based on, are your typical fantasy fluff. Charlaine Harris has imagined a rich and complex world populated with vampires, Weres, shape-shifters, fairies, maenads, and other mythical creatures which live in secret (or not so secret) with humans. Dead Until Dark evidently inspired Alan Ball enough that he decided to bring the world to life on the television, and I anticipated True Blood with a great deal of excitement when the show first started to be talked up.
But the reason I anticipated it is probably a bit different from the reason most people were excited. Vampires are it right now, which of course means that HBO was going to jump on the show and people who just can't get enough of their vampire fix were delighted to have another world to explore.
All well and good.

Vampire Wars: Who's the Best Heroine?
What do you think ?
We had an epiphany earlier this week: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Vampire Diaries and True Blood are all the same show (structurally speaking). All three vampire series are about an impossibly attractive and moderately magical heroine from small-town America who must balance the demands of friends and family with her problematic feelings for not one, but two, sexy local vampires: a broody good one with an itchy conscience and a snarky bad one who likes to, um, eat women.

True Blood Wedding, Vermont Style
How fun Ink Spot plas the Vermont Bill Sookie wedding
So the Wedding Blogs and Twittosphere is a buzz with what a True Blood wedding might look like. If you're not a fan of the Sookie Stackhouse novels or the TV series, the following might not make a whole lot of sense, but you might still get some elegant ideas for a gold and silver wedding.
Seeing how Bill was planning to take Sookie to Vermont (I love that this must be the first or only place that vamp/human weddings are allowed), I thought it would be neat to figure out how they'd do it up, Vermont style.
First off, the location

True Blood: this was not the first time we've had a hint at Sookie's " powers"

Watch the full length video of the unaired True Blood pilot.
This episode includes the other actress as Tara (Brook Kerr) instead of Rutina Wesley.
You will also see the "blue eyes ladies in the woods" (who we think might be Claudine, her fae cousin ) during the Sookie/ Mack Rattray fight this was taken out. The effect wasn't taken out in the uncanny ability with the chain.
This episode also has missing scenes and has very different music.

What Not To Say on a First Date, by Sookie Stackhouse PART IV
16) I've been sort of raped by an ex when he was out of control and he’s ALSO my next door neighbor and he, uhh, still kinda stalks me and shows up in awkward places and tells me he's still in love with me...oops, there he is now! :::waves at Bill who is lurking outside of the restaurant in the shadows::: Don't worry! He's totally harmless. I think... I mean he did just kill a bunch of fairies who had kidnapped and tortured me. It was nuts. He got silver poisoning and everything just for me. He's seriously dedicated to me. I mean SERIOUSLY.
17) Oooh, ooh! Have you ever dumped a body before? I have! It
was really scary at first but WHOO, what a rush! We found him in Alcide's closet. You know, that Pack Master I mentioned who just texted me again?? Did I mention I stayed with him in Jackson? It was totally platonic...well nothing HAPPENED but wow was there chemistry! Anyhoo...Alcide and I were looking for my soon to be official ex vamp boyfriend, the one who is hiding outside :::waves at Bill again::: and this Were got fresh with me. Then we found him dead in the closet! So we dumped the body in the woods rather than reporting it to the police. :::looks at date::: Hey, why are your eyes so wide?
18) When you drop me off at the house I'll have to show you my spiffy new kitchen. A pirate vampire assassin burned it down in an attempt to kill me BUT my fairy godmother saved me! She was also my COUSIN! Yeah, pretty cool huh? She just passed away protecting me from evil fairy enemies of my great grandfather. I miss her a lot. Its why I don’t drink my tea with lemon anymore…in her honor. :::raises her glass in salute::: Anyway, the pirate assassin was sent to avenge the death of another vamp who Eric staked for me. You remember Eric? Well, he didn't remember some things :::laughs to herself ruefully::: He's the other vamp I've had uhhh...moments with? But he didn't remember it because he had amnesia :::pauses for dramatic affect::: and NOW he remembers what happened when he couldn't remember anything! :::pours herself another glass of wine::: Where was I? Oh yeah! This vamp was sent to kill the person that would hurt Eric the most and he figured that killing me would cause him the most pain. I wonder why that is? :::looks over her shoulder::: Hey, who is Bill talking to outside? Wait, is that Eric?! What is he doing here???
19) Wait a minute. :::pauses::: Yeah, thats Eric. I can sense he's pretty upset with me because I'm on a date. We had a pretty significant blood exchange a while back with some sort of ceremonial knife. Anyway, instead of being able to control me, it just allows me to feel more of his emotions and him mine. Its technically called a Blood Bond. Ominous, much? It allowed me to save his life a while back when he was being attacked. Freaky, huh? So I guess he knows I think you're kinda hot... :::bats eyelashes again::: So then Eric calls me up a few months ago and has me bring him this same knife and does some sort of “hoodoo voodoo” in front over another significant vampy sort of dude and apparently we’re “married” according to vampire rules now. Its like a vampire shotgun wedding, minus the baby! We haven’t had “the talk” yet about whether we’re LEGALLY married so being on a date with you shouldn’t make him TOO angry. What? Why do you look like you need the Heimlich maneuver? I know CPR. Do you need help??
20) So have you ever met a Werewolf who was turned into a vampire? I have! He attacked me when he rose. I was dating his boss who thought he was dead. We found his dead body in my cousin Hadley's apartment (you know, the vampire who dated the old Queen of Louisiana and now she's dead? Yeah, her place!). I was with a witch who had to set his face on fire to get him off of me! She's now my roommate so you'll have to meet her when we get home. We just lost our pet, our cat, Bob. He was her sorta lover and she ACCIDENTALLY turned him into a cat and it took FOREVER to get him changed back... There are some very suspicious kittens around our place now too! Anyway, Bob is a human again and BOY was he PISSED... What? OH! Where was I? Oh yeah! So Werewolf now Vampire dude goes to work for the Queen and apparently TOTALLY flips his noodle! So crazy Werpire collaborated with the Fellowship of the Sun to bomb the vampire summit in Rhodes a few weeks ago! I know! SOOO CRAZY!?!? It was like armageddon, but with vampires, Weres, and aliens from other dimensions. Now the FBI is investigating it and my involvement in the rescue. No, really! :::pauses to drink more wine and waves her arm at the waiter to bring another bottle::: So my now ex boyfriend was there with me, Werepire's former boss...did I mention he could turn into a Bengal Tiger, one of the most lethal animals on the planet? He's like 7 feet long when he's shifted! But he's as gentle as a kitten...well, unless you tick him off because he's also a famous Supe ultimate fighter from the pits and I don't know how many people he's killed in total BUT he's killed a few people and a vamp for me...Hey, are you ok? Why are you gripping your wine glass like that. You'll break it! Here, let me pour you some more! :::pours wine in his glass which is now shaking::: Anyway, my boyfriend was there running the summit and I had no idea just HOW famous he was till we got there. You've never heard of him? Quinn? Wow, you're the first person I've met who hasn't in a while. We JUST broke up and he’s really not taking it well so he might still be a little jealous, ya think? I mean he only attacked or killed people who he thought were trying to hurt me or keep him from talking to me. Hey, I think thats him arguing with Eric and Bill outside! What a coincidence! :::waves::: Surely going out to a friendly dinner isn't hurting him? I dumped him pretty suddenly after I found out he'd been incognito because he'd been off in Las Vegas saving his crazy mother's behind AGAIN and is now indebted to their Vampire King. Did I mention that King just led a hostile takeover of Louisiana and now HE'S in charge? He's the other guy I saved when I saved Eric so he sort of owes me one. Aaaannnyway, I think the whole vampire marriage thing was to protect me from the new vamp king because he wanted me in Vegas? I mean yeah, VEGAS BABY…but only for a visit. I’m not one for sequins anyway. I can’t believe Quinn is back in town. The last time he was here he violated Eric’s direct order trying to see me and he and Bill got into this HUGE fight and oh oh…I can sense Eric’s anger via my bond. Wow. He’s really ticked off. But amazingly I don’t think its with Quinn. Why is he staring so intently through the window right now? Huh, that’s, like…so weird and stuff. So anyway its been a pretty exciting few months but I don't think anyone else wants to kill me right NOW and besides, who would try with Eric, Quinn, and Bill right outside? :::turns and waves at Eric, Quinn, and Bill who are now standing at the window and glaring inside:::
Wait, where are you going? They haven't even brought out our dessert yet?
Thanks Sassy
