Quantum Death Leaps Won't Staunch Your Bloody Vampire Tears

Meredith out does herself with Ep 9 review and a little shout out to us-she was great on TalkBlood last week and gave us a little preview of some of her famous "Pros and Con"

After last week's explosion of excitement, how could True Blood's vampires top the insanity? Simple: with Quantum Leap special effects and big, fat bloody tears. This was the episode where everybody cried themselves silly, because being a vampire is hard.

Last week's True Blood left the viewers with a big splodey cliffhanger. The Fellowship of the Sun's soldier, who loved Jason a little bit more than a bunk mate should, popped into the "Godric and his pajamas are awesome" party to spoil the mood completely, with a giant silver chest bomb. And then everybody cried: Eric cried, Sookie cried, Jason cried, Bill didn't cry because it would ruin his powdery makeup, and I cried...then I cried some more out of shame, and went on the roof and screamed "Gooooooodriiiiiiiiiiiic," into the new morning sun.

Now that enough time has come and gone I think we're all ready to let the healing begin with this week's Pros and Cons of True Blood:

Pro: Before all the death and destruction, Bill manages to slip in this little gem, "You may be immortal Lorena, but you are dead to me." Come on, even if you were the blood-tear-faced Lorena, I couldn't get through this conversation without stopping and saying, "wait, what excuse me did you just make a silly play on words while breaking up with me eternally?" Pro for being one of the reasons I love this show.

Pro: Then the great big bomb goes off, and it gets a pro for not being a stupid vision or premonition or something of that nature.

Pro: Pro to Sookie being worried about her brother, and pro to Jason for his "thumbs up" response.

Pro: Bill not killing the Fellowship of The Sun's kid. But Con for everyone thinking that Godric was the first vampire to show patience and understanding while being incredibly tired of the antics of his people. Mopey Bill has been doing this forever. He's cornered the Southern market on "self righteous/self hating vampires just trying to do the right thing." He's just been busy cleaning up after all of Sookie's messes, and trying to keep her out of trouble. Sure Bill doesn't really want to be here, and he's tried countless times to pull Sookie out of the whole Dallas mess because it's "not their problem". But this is the moment when we see Bill involved, and it's bad ass. And that's really the only difference between these two: Godric is trying, and clearly failing, to make a difference and Bill is still finding his voice and spine. Don't forget he willingly led a "meet the local vampire" talk at Gram's church.

True Blood behind the scene: Godric meets God in both Dallas and Los Angeles. "Go Ask Dallas -where was this filmed ?"

I am confused was the 'Godric on the roof' his big finale scene shot in L.A. or in Dallas ?

Answer: Well, Dallas thanks for writing and I think what we have here is a little bit of movie magic.

Some of the scenes on the roof were shot in Dallas and some of it was shot in Los Angeles. The end when Godric is alone and facing the east, he is on the top of a newer part of the Adolphus hotel in Dallas and he's on the helipad and the building he is facing (with the clock tower-Note it's 6:13 am) is a well know Dallas landmark, it's our old Mercantile building.

'Blood' in Dallas

HBO's red-hot vampire series True Blood shot a scene recently atop the Adolphus.

"A character was on the roof and had to burst into flames when the sun came up," said Janis Burklund of the Dallas Film Commission. The scene is for the ninth episode of the second season of the show, which is set in Louisiana.

Then we read in the Access Hollywood article this morning about Allan Hyde ( the young actor who played Godric ) racing with Anna and Alexander and the crew to shoot the scene in L.A.

"Allan explained that he, along with AccessHollywood.com’s newest Rising Star – Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman) and Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) — had just minutes to film his death scene in downtown LA. The three actors and crew raced to capture the morning’s natural light.

“It was amazing, not just because it was such a touching scene. The performances of Alex and Anna in that scene were so amazing just to watch,” he told Access. “I never tried anything like it. I had very good feeling about the scene and I’m excited to watch it.”

So what gives ? which is right ?

Well, they can't trick Ol' Dallas - the scene was shot in two places. It was shot with Alex, Anna and Allan on top of the building in L.A. located on Figueroa St. in Downtown LA.

The 'tell' here is that you can clearly see the name of the building the back of the real Anna, is the TCW building and it's located on 865 South Figueroa Street. So, I think they might actually be on top of the building located at 800 South Figueroa and if you click on the Google map below and then look at it on satellite view I think you can see the stairs that Sookie comes up and that Eric leaves by are right next to the heliport.

Then in the other scenes really shot in Dallas you see just Alan or they used Allan and a Sookie stand-in ....also look at the skies and the railings.

At least, I know I'm not crazy because in the same scene we saw two unique buildings but one is in L.A. and the other is in Dallas and we all know that's impossible- except in Hollywood !

Access Exclusive: ‘True Blood’s’ Allan Hyde On Playing Powerful Vampire Godric

On HBO’s “True Blood” fans are divided between Team Bill and Team Eric, but midway through the vampire series’ stellar Season 2, a force older, wiser and far more powerful than either of those fanged ones burst on to the scene in the form of a 2,000-year-old vampire played by a 20-year-old.

Danish actor Allan Hyde is a relative unknown stateside, but his subtle and heartbreaking take on the role of Godric has left fans clamoring for more of the young star. AccessHollywood.com caught up with Allan just days before his gripping recent episode.

Was Sunday’s episode the final time fans will see Godric?

“It is the last episode of my character,” Allan told Access last week before viewers saw Godric take his own life on a rooftop in Dallas as the rising sun caused his body to combust into flames.

“Unless, they decide to do like flashbacks, but I don’t know anything about that,” he said.

Though he’s thus far unknown to most of America, Allan has a slew of Danish films and stage credits to his name along with voicing Ron Weasley in the “Harry Potter” movie in his native country and appearing on the international soundtrack to Disney’s “Camp Rock” – a far cry from his role on “True Blood.”

HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITES OF GODRIC

True Blood: Bite Me

Everything comes to a peak: Godric gets a tan, Maryann proves that she’s pretty nasty, and Sookie and Eric prove pretty to each other. No doubt next week Sookie and her undead suitors will head back to Bon Temps to straighten out the mess Maryann has made and save Tara and Sam. It doesn’t seem like that should take three more episodes to play out; are there surprises coming that we haven’t anticipated?

Surprise! All our favorites survived that terrorist attack. Duh.

Eric saved Sookie by shielding her from the debris. Even though “it’s gross. And it’s you!” she returns the favor by sucking some steel shrapnel from his chest. Except — ha! — he would have healed on his own, and this was just a ruse to get her to drink his blood. She tried to spit rather than swallow, but now Eric will always know where she is and what she’s feeling. And as Bill points out, she’ll be attracted to him.

In bed with Jason — er, with Bill, but didn’t that Sookie-Jason stick-together-and-grow-up scene feel a little incesty? — Sookie dreams of Eric. And of Lorena opining that Sookie has already abandoned Bill and that he means nothing to her. Gazing into each other’s eyes, discussing what a great vampire she’d be, Sookie and Eric have more chemistry than she and Bill ever did. We feel a little cheated: Drinking his blood is an awfully convenient excuse for their bond, when surely Eric’s tenderly naughty Nordic charms should have sufficed.

Vampire PR wizard Nan Flanagan is doing damage control. She plays talking heads with the Newlins, who bicker with one another on TV (“I hate your hair!”). But she wants Godric to step down, and he’s all too happy to do so. Eric realizes that Godric tried to let Newlin kill him and will take it into his own hands now — but Bill interrupts by sucker punching Eric. Hey, Bill: That was a dick move, and these days, you look less like a vampire, or even a corpse, and more like an old man, so kindly step back and let us watch Eric.

'True Blood': The precise moment Eric earned his hottest new vampire title

Confession: I’m one of those late-comers who’s helping True Blood now earn record ratings, so I was sort of surprised when Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) topped EW’s recent “Who’s the hottest new vampire?” poll with 42 percent of the vote. After last night’s episode, however, I totally get it. There was that smirk he flashed when he tricked Sookie into drinking his blood to remove a second silver bullet. The way he casually rested with his arm behind his head like an ’80s centerfold as he admitted that he’d told “a tiny falsehood” (”You big lying A-hole!” “Bill, you’re right, I believe I can sense her emotions.”) Sookie’s revealing dream, of course. (If you think that picture is a spoiler, at least it’s a spoiler that makes you want to watch the episode immediately.) And then, how tall and tasty he looked walking away from Godric and toward Sookie on the roof.

'True Blood': Sookie bites Eric, and 'I'm full of joy, I want to burn!'

Yes, TV exerts a great and terrible power, doesn’t it, making us helplessly in thrall to True Blood. There was a beautiful moment when Eric cries as Godric explains he must die to atone for his sins. The love between the two men was palpable: “There are centuries of faith and love between us,” said Godric, trying to comfort an agonized Eric.

In the closing moments, a now-chastened, eager-to-atone Godric went up on a roof to see the killing sunrise. Sookie, ever the forgiving Christian, tried to comfort him, but Godric’s different faith surpassed even hers in welcoming either final death or a soul brought to ultimate justice: “I’m full of joy… I want to burn!” Godric cried in final ecstasy.

The mixture of Christian and pagan faith; same-sex and hetero-sex love; and Sookie in a red gingham dress looking like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz… it was another genre-bending, mind-expanding edition of True Blood.

“True Blood”: Episode Nine Recap

Team Eric fans must be frantically fanning themselves after the latest episode of “True Blood.” The Putin of the supernatural world, as a colleague describes him, basically hijacked the otherwise sleepy installment of the Southern vampire series, between his manipulative conning of Sookie into drinking his blood — consequently giving him the ability to feel her thoughts, and make buck-naked appearances in her dreams/nightmares — and his genuine shedding of tears for the death of his man-child maker, Godric. (And yes, for those who care, the black tank top is back.)

Overall, Episode Nine — entitled “I Will Rise Up” — only inched the plot forward. Picking up with Luke’s suicide bombing of Godric’s Dallas lair, we quickly learn, to no one’s surprise, that everyone important is still alive — or at least, for the vamps concerned, not permanently dead (RIP Stan). As Godric sorrowfully looks at the debris that was his home, Bill rushes in, after his tete-a-tete with Lorena, calling Sookie’s name. He discovers her leaning over Eric’s body, sucking silver bullets out of his chest, to “save” his life. He forlornly informs Sookie that she’s been had: Eric was never in any danger and was probably already healing, but the damage is done. Eric will now be able to sense her every emotion and know where she is at all times. Sookie: “You A-hole!” Eric: “Bill, you’re right. I can sense her emotions.”

Bill discovers that traditional vampire techniques don't work on Maryann; Hoyt and Jessica try to keep a lid on Maxine's madness; Sookie tries to push through the darkness consuming Tara. With all hell breaking loose, Jason takes the bull by the horns to rescue Sam, at least for the moment.


2.11 - Frenzy
With the crisis in Bon Temps careening out of control, Bill seeks out the advice of Sophie-Anne, the Vampire Queen of Louisiana, but must exercise patience before she gives him critical information. Meanwhile, Sookie and Lafayette find that protecting Tara from herself is more difficult than they anticipated; a desperate Sam turns to an unlikely source for assistance; and Hoyt's allegiance to Maxine is put to the test by Jessica.

This is exciting ! We now (might) know the titles of the first 10 episodes of True Blood for Season 2.

Now the one thing we know about True Blood is that the episode names come from the a song used in in the soundtrack of that episode and that it is somehow significant to that episode.

So far for Season 2 we have :

We know that Alan Ball and the amazing Gary Calamar put great effort into musically curating True Blood !
Episode 2.09 - I Will Rise Up, this is only my guess, I just research the various songs with the leaked title and come up with a song I think it might be.

'I Will Rise Up' just has to the the Lyle Lovett song. 'I Will Rise/Ain't No More Cane' comes for the August 2007 album " It's not big it's Large "
Lovett was born in the unincorporated area of Klein, Harris County (suburban Houston), Texas. Lovett attended Texas A&M University, where he studied German and journalism. ( HE IS AN AGGIE!)

The title is a play on the name Lovett has given to his touring band since 1988. Lovett explains the title in an interview: "We've always done arrangements that border on blues music, that border on jazz arrangements, that border on what folks might think of as 'big band', but we don't really play big band music. But we've always had a lot of people in the band so that's why I call the band the 'Large Band' and not the 'Big Band'. But invariably people refer to the band as the 'Big Band' and ... it's not big... you get the idea."
