True Blood’s Janina Gavankar reveals the dark secrets of shapeshifter dinner parties

On this season of True Blood, one of the new faces around Bon Temps is Luna Garza, a skin-walking elementary school teacher who gets mixed up in the unceasing train wreck that is the life of shapeshifting restauranteur Sam Merlotte.

At Syfy's Comic-Con party, actress Janina Gavankar gave us her theory of how Luna and Sam met. Janina also expressed a desire to see more odd-toed ungulates round out the show's cast.

This season, Sam, Luna, and the other Louisiana shifters formed a shapeshifter supper club. Will we ever learn the origins of this magical dinner party?

Marshall Allman furious over leaked 'True Blood' footage

I think he will get lots of acting work from that clip he shows himself to be fearless and very comedic !

"True Blood" star Marshall Allman is fuming over the Funny Or Die video that exposes the "method shapeshifting" process he uses to play Tommy Mickens on the hit HBO series.
"Yeah, your laughter is my shame," he told me Thursday over the phone from Georgia, where he's filming the movie, "Jayne Mansfield's Car." I had told him I thought the video was funny. "Enjoy it all you want. The cat's out of the bag."

Method Shapeshifting with Marshall Allman

Marshall takes his animal transformations really, really seriously. ( NOT FOR WORK OR KIDS!)-hahahahah
If I could shapeshift, I'd become a fly on the wall of the "True Blood" set so I could see how things are done. But thanks to Funny Or Die, fans are getting a behind-the-scenes look at the HBO series.
In the hilarious video "Method Shifting," Trubie newbie Janina Gavankar, who plays a new shifter and romantic interest for Sam (Sam Trammell), does her first scene with Marshall Allman, aka Sam's shifter brother, Tommy.

'True Blood's' Marshall Allman says Tommy Mickens 'really just wants love'

In Marshall Allman's own words, his character, shapeshifter Tommy Mickens, on "True Blood" is "bad ass."

From his default bulldog shape to his dare that TV older brother, Sam Merlotte (played by Sam Trammell), throw a punch to officially show he's family, Allman's words couldn't be more on point. But according to the actor, Tommy has a softer side, too.

"He really just wants love honestly," Allman tells Zap2it. "He wants someone he can trust, someone he can depend on, to be like a healthy family. Does he have any idea how that works? Hell no. But does he know how to get what he wants? Probably not, but we shall see."

Warning: Spoiler Alert!

So, when it comes to family, we hear he may have been getting the wrong brand of love. Will Sam be able to change things with some brotherly bonding?

True Blood: Shapeshifter Plans To Wreak Havoc At The Zoo!

When it comes to shapeshifters, Marshall Allman is admittedly biased — after all, he plays Tommy Mickens, the magically transforming brother of Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) on "True Blood." Biased or not, it's hard to deny Marshall's enthusiasm for his character's power set.
"It's so much fun to take something supernatural and actually in my imagination accept that as something real for me," he told Hollywood Crush in an exclusive interview. "It gives me a secret, it gives me a mystery, it gives me this ace up my sleeve that other people might not know about. It drives my imagination wild. I love it! Any way that I get to explore that is so cool."
Marshall's imagination has gone so wild, in fact, that he's already thinking about ways to showcase Tommy's shape-shifting powers in an off-season series of viral videos. Read on to find out more!

"I was joking around with some of my team, and you know how they're doing minisodes between seasons? I was like, 'Man, next year, if they want to do a minisode for me, I've got the perfect idea,'" he said. "All they need to do is have me and Sam. Obviously with the way the season ends, they do this in a continuation of story lines. But I would love to do a viral video where me and Sam as shifters go to a zoo and have a day of it!"

Shapeshifter Lays The Smack Down On Vampires & Werewolves!

There are many dangerous creatures lurking about on "True Blood" from vampires to werewolves, but one supernatural species that often gets overlooked is the shapeshifter. Previously only represented by Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), the shape-shifting world has opened up considerably in this third season thanks to the arrival of Sam's brother Tommy Mickens, played by Marshall Allman.

During our exclusive interview with Marshall, we asked the "True Blood" actor if he thought that a shapeshifter could hold its own in a fight against a vampire and a werewolf. Not only did Marshall say that a shapeshifter would hold up just fine, he believes that the shapeshifter would win without any difficulty whatsoever!

"The shapeshifter wins instantly!" he declared, saying that the werewolf would be the first supernatural creature to fall in the fight.

Meet ‘True Blood’s’ Newest Shapeshifter: Marshall Allman

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
This Sunday, “True Blood” returns to HBO with its second episode from Season 3, and fans are going to get to know a lot more about a new young blood — Sam Merlotte’s little brother, Tommy Mickens.
Played by Marshall Allman, formerly of “Prison Break,” the Austin-bred actor has come into the series ready to cause trouble in his long-lost older brother’s already dramatic life.
“By far, for me this is the best character I’ve ever played,” Marshall told AccessHollywood.com of Tommy, a mechanic/shapeshifter who has already tried to have his brother run over while in animal form. “He’s definitely the most complex, the most rich.”
Without giving too much away, Marshall is locked in for the season as Tommy, who is heading to Bon Temps and Merlotte’s with mischief for Sam on his mind.

Full Moon of Werewolves: Paranormal Boys You Can Take Home to Mom

Olga writes a great post about weres and Sam our favorite shifter

About today’s guest: Olga Kwak
Olga is the Junior Web Maintenance Technician for eHarlequin.com. An avid reader, in her spare time she blogs about life in Toronto at www.gloryfades.org and her obsession with the written word at Get Thee to a Punnery!

There’s something comforting about knowing your one true love is a werewolf. Sure, he might shed. Yes, he goes through clothing like it’s made of tissue. But even if he can tear a human limb from limb and barely break a sweat, you know he’s loyal to you and you alone. His love is intense and it makes you feel like you’re the only person in the world.

So what if he brings home the occasional flea?

My best friend and I are gaga over True Blood. It’s the perfect TV cocktail for girlies like us who have grown up watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But it’s even better because it has the added bonus of featuring a very sexy werewolf. Based on the Dead Until Dark book series by Charlaine Harris, it follows the story of Sookie Stackhouse and a variety of characters (both normal and paranormal) as they try and get through the day-to-day in Bon Temps, Louisiana. Of course there’s a little murder and intrigue thrown in to keep the viewer wondering.

Go ask Dallas : Mysterious weres with Sookie and Luna in Living Dead in Dallas

Thanks so very much for everyone's comments about out little "Deb-uh, girl" mystery.
I think everyone who posted was right ... ( the original post is here )

The two 'creatures" in the front seat are werewolves - Luna does say here :

Page 97 LDID "Why'd Josephus have to send for freakin' werewolves?" Luna muttered into my ea.

One was a male and one was a female and I guess her name was "Deb-uh" ( ha)
Luna it seems is a were-bat.

Pg 93 LDID "This little bat saved your life tonight, for real?" "Yes." I was absolutely sincere about that. "Luna saved my life."

Now as to what animal Debbie Pelt shifts into, well- that is one of the infamous Charlaine Harris ( I really love the little inaccuracies, myself-i think they are charming ) Sookie books mistakes.

In two different books, Charlaine says Debbie Pelt is two different types of were- animal.

Page 36 DD Okay. Debbie Pelt, werefox, had been adopted. I'd learned that the Weres were prone to fertility problems, and I assumed that the Pelts had given up on having their own little Were...

Page 144 DTTW "Oh, I can't," she said bitterly. "I've been abjured. I can't change with Alcide's pack anymore. They have license to kill me, if I do." "What did you shift into, anyway?" "Lynx." That was appropriate.

Charlaine was asked this questions last month in Houston you can hear her own answer here

The answer was "I made a mistake " I hope this helps clear this mystery up a little.

Also from DTTW

"And what does she shift into?" Shape-shifters had a choice, but there was one animal each shifter had an affinity for, her habitual animal. A shape-shifter could call herself a "were-lynx" or a "were-bat," if she was out of hearing range of a werewolf. Werewolves objected very strenuously to any other two-natured creatures who termed themselves "Were."

Friday perfect for dancing in the moonlight ( or for shifting)

It won't be your imagination if the moon looks bigger and brighter Friday night, like "a cosmic flood lamp."

NASA says the moon will appear up to 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter.

Every few years, a full moon coincides with the point in the satellite's elliptical orbit that brings it closest to the center of the Earth. Friday night, the moon will be fully illuminated just four hours after reaching that point, according to a feature story on the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Web site.

The moon will appear up to 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than "lesser full moons we've seen earlier in 2008," NASA says -- provided it is being viewed in a clear sky.

At the moon's closest approach -- the orbital perigee -- it is about 30,000 miles (48,000 kilometers) closer to Earth than at the other extreme -- the apogee -- the space agency says.

The full moon, as always, will seem largest when it is near the horizon, as it rises and sets, "but it's really just an optical illusion," said NASA spokesman J.D. Harrington.

When the moon shines directly overhead, he said, it's hard to tell the difference in size.
