The True Blood Cookbook- how much fun is this ?

Move over, unofficial True Blood cookbook, the official vampires are bringing all their HBO-approved sexy recipes to the official True Blood Cookbook, to be published by Chronicle in the Fall of 2012. Written by the show's creator Alan Ball and co-written with Karen Sommer Shallett and Marcelle Bienvenu, the book will feature a whole mess of officially official stuff from the show including "photos from the show's four seasons, side stories, and authentic southern recipes for the local fare of the insatiable world of Bon Temps." (Bon Temps is the vampire town, in case you are unfamiliar.) As with its unofficial predecessor, this promises to be a book full of recipes themed to a show in which half of the characters cannot eat food, just real/synthetic blood. Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, the True Blood takes place in Louisiana in the not-too-distant future, when vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source. The show follows the romance between waitress Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people’s thoughts, and her soul mate, 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer). Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy®- winning HBO series Six Feet Under®) created and executive produces the show, which is based on the best-selling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.

Going For Blood (True Story)

Despite the abysmal trends in the homevideo marketplace (sales have fallen about $1 billion a year to $10 billion this year), the marketing team at HBO has breathed new life into its retail sales with the living dead. Yup, you guessed it, the vampires of “True Blood.”

Sofia Chang, senior vice president-retail marketing at HBO, rattled off some impressive media metrics to prove that, but it was the one she cited about actual “True Blood” sales – the drink, not the show – that really impressed me.

Blood-Inspired Perfume Piques Vampire Curiosity

A new blood-inspired perfume may soon have an ideal group of early adopters: vampires.

Last week, a pair of Italian entrepreneurs, Antonio Zuddas and Giovanni Castelli, debuted Blood Concept, a provocative fragrance line based on the four major human blood types: A, B, AB and O.

While the line forgoes incorporating actual blood, the Italian duo nonetheless claim that each scent is evocative of the blood type it represents.

True Blood: The Complete Third Season, preorder

HBO Home Entertainment is promising an immersive fan experience with its Blu-ray Disc version of True Blood: The Complete Third Season, offering nearly double the bonus content found with the second season.
The bulk of the extras come with the show’s enhanced viewing mode, which offers such features as character perspectives, in which characters from the show (in this case Jessica, Andy, Tommy and Alcide) pop up to discuss a scene with the audience; a flashback/flash forward mode, in which past or future scenes that relate to the current scene are played; as well as vampire histories and character bios. Viewers can skip from bonus event to bonus event.
New to the third season is “True Blood Lines,” an interactive on-screen guide that highlights the connections between the many worlds in the series.
These Blu-ray extras come in addition to the standard-DVD extras, which include a featurette about the show’s use of werewolves; "True Blood" Post Mortem vignettes; end-of-episode guides for bonus helpings of “True Blood”; Snoop Dogg’s “Oh Sookie” music video; and seven audio commentaries.
The five-disc set is due May 31 at $79.98 (the DVD version is $59.99).

Vampire Tarot

Tarot cards have been a part of the occult almost since they were created. Originally, the Tarot were playing cards used for games in France and Italy, but even playing cards have been used for divinatory purposes almost since their creation. As the centuries have passed, and anything to do with magic and divination was demonized by the Church, Tarot cards have more and more been associated with darker powers. So it makes sense to create a vampire Tarot deck. What else has more allure and mystery?
There are actually several vampire Tarot decks in existence today. There is the Vampire of the Eternal Night deck, the Vampire Tarot by Natatlie Hertz, and this Vampire Tarot, by Robert M. Place. Place’s Vampire Tarot is my favorite vampire version. It recognizes the great storytellers of the vampire legend, such as John Polidori as the Knight of Garlic Flowers. The suits of the Minor Arcana have changed slightly in this deck. Swords have been replaced with knives, chalices with holy water, wands with stakes, and pentacles with garlic flowers.

Vampire dolls from the makers of Barbie ?

Barbie Meets the Bratz on 'True Blood'? 

Between Twilight and True Blood, vampires have a vice-grip bite on women from 14 to 40. The makers of Barbie are hoping the same monster-love can take hold in younger girls, too.
Mattel is rolling out Monster High, where the children of vampires and werewolves can hang without getting hassled. The toy line and imaginary world (sure to find it's way to TV if it sells) mixes the Twilight series with a heavy dose of Harry Potter, a bit of Archie Comics and a dash of X Men. If it seems like they're trying a bit too hard to be all things to all kids, the character descriptions sound that way, too.
Here's a rundown on the characters from the LA Times:
"There's Draculaura, daughter of Dracula, who is vegan and faints at the sight of blood. Her best friend Clawdeen Wolf, whose father is Werewolf, spends much of her time plucking and shaving her excessive, fast-growing hair."
I have to admit I'm intrigued by the lone male, Frankie Stein, son of uh, Frankenstein, who is into shopping for "scary cute clothes that are absolutely to die for," in what sounds like an admirable attempt to bring an effeminate male into kid culture.
And after years of battling with Bratz in the courtroom (Mattel says Bratz creator developed the idea while working for them), this looks like Barbie's attempt to reclaim some of that territory.
And that's where Monster High goes from innocently lame to just wrong.
The mostly female dolls share most of the Bratz dolls' worst qualities: Smeared-on make-up, bodies that make Barbie look healthy, oddly huge heads, and sexed-up outfits. When did the scary and the sexy become inseparable? I blame Elvira, Mistress of the Dark.
