True Blood Filming locations ! They haven't been very elaborate or exciting this year and I've already lamented that none of the Season has been shot ( that we know of yet ) in Louisiana but the two locations I was interested in were the Emporium and the Bellefleur mansion ( which looked an awful lot like MaryAnn's house to me )
Seeing Stars does a good job of tracking these down and here are the locations for both and found the Will and Kate connection. More HERE
** and I already wrote about the fact that they are no longer using the " Real " house for Bill's house and now use a look-a-like facade HERE
Moon Goddess Emporium
Q. Where can I find it in real life?
A. This brick building actually holds a costume shop that was once called (appropriately enough) as "Dracula's Castle", and was last known as "Francisco's Halloween Shop". It might have been vacant when they shot this scene.
You'll find it 15834 E. Main Street, in the old downtown section of La Puente, CA.
The shop is located on the southeast corner of Main and 1st Street. The city of La Puente is located in out in East L.A., about 15 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. Here is an aerial photo of the storefront (looking south). And here is a map link. And here is a Google StreetView panorama of the shop.
Q. How the heck did you figure out where it was?
A. I had been told that they were filming somewhere in La Puente back on January 7th. So, when the new episodes started airing, I kept an eye out for that neighborhood. Since I was familiar with the town from "Halloween H20", I recognized the street when I saw it on the very first episode of Season 4, of True Blood.
The Bellefleur Mansion
Q. Where can I find it in real life?
A. This beautiful home is actually far from Louisiana - and the South (unless you count Southern California). You'll find it in Los Angeles, in the exclusive neighborhood known as Hancock Park.
The address is 526 S. Rimpau Blvd.
That's on the east side of Rimpau, three houses north of 6th Street.
Not surprisingly, the home is located within walking distance of the mansion where Prince William & Kate stayed during their 2011 visit to Los Angeles (at 450 S. June).

True Blood Season 4 in production : Watching the Filming of “True Blood”
Last Wednesday evening I got a text from the owner of POP Champagne & Dessert Bar – my very favorite restaurant and the spot where the Grim Cheaper and I held the rehearsal dinner for our wedding last August – alerting me to the fact that the hit HBO television series True Blood would be filming at his eatery the following evening beginning at 9 p.m. He invited me to come down to watch and even though I’ve never seen even one episode of the vampire series, I was beyond excited! I immediately called up Mike, from MovieShotsLA, and asked him to join me as True Blood is his very favorite show. So, the next night at around 8 p.m. the two of us headed out to POP and were floored to see those ubiquitous yellow filming signs that I so love on the streets surrounding the restaurant.

Welcome to Alcide's apartment
We did finally see Alcide's apartment building, remember we saw them filming at the Trianon Apartments in LA.

Trianon Apartments

1750-54 Serrano Avenue Google map
Named after Marie Antoinette’s petite hideaway chateau at Versailles in France - possibly because “Chateau d’Azay-le-Rideau,” the 16th century Burgundian military outpost that actually served as its prototype, would fit awkwardly on the huge sign that tops the structure. Architect Leland Bryant also designed the art deco Sunset Tower, now known as the Argyle Hotel, on the Sunset Strip.

True Blood behind the scene: Godric meets God in both Dallas and Los Angeles. "Go Ask Dallas -where was this filmed ?"
HBO's red-hot vampire series True Blood shot a scene recently atop the Adolphus. "A character was on the roof and had to burst into flames when the sun came Then we read in the Access Hollywood article this morning about Allan Hyde ( the young actor who played Godric ) racing with Anna and Alexander and the crew to shoot the scene in L.A. "Allan explained that he, along with AccessHollywood.com’s newest Rising Star – Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman) and Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) — had just minutes to film his death scene in downtown LA. The three actors and crew raced to capture the morning’s natural light. “It was amazing, not just because it was such a touching scene. The performances of Alex and Anna in that scene were so amazing just to watch,” he told Access. “I never tried anything like it. I had very good feeling about the scene and I’m excited to watch it.” So what gives ? which is right ? Well, they can't trick Ol' Dallas - the scene was shot in two places. It was shot with Alex, Anna and Allan on top of the building in L.A. located on Figueroa St. in Downtown LA. The 'tell' here is that you can clearly see the name of the building the back of the real Anna, is the TCW building and it's located on 865 South Figueroa Street. So, I think they might actually be on top of the building located at 800 South Figueroa and if you click on the Google map below and then look at it on satellite view I think you can see the stairs that Sookie comes up and that Eric leaves by are right next to the heliport. Then in the other scenes really shot in Dallas you see just Alan or they used Allan and a Sookie stand-in ....also look at the skies and the railings. At least, I know I'm not crazy because in the same scene we saw two unique buildings but one is in L.A. and the other is in Dallas and we all know that's impossible- except in Hollywood !

Dear Dallas ,
I am confused was the 'Godric on the roof' his big finale scene shot in L.A. or in Dallas ?
Thanks and I love you blog!
"Dallas " (haha)
Answer: Well, Dallas thanks for writing and I think what we have here is a little bit of movie magic.
Some of the scenes on the roof were shot in Dallas and some of it was shot in Los Angeles. The end when Godric is alone and facing the east, he is on the top of a newer part of the Adolphus hotel in Dallas and he's on the helipad and the building he is facing (with the clock tower-Note it's 6:13 am) is a well know Dallas landmark, it's our old Mercantile building.
We know that the Dallas Morning News reported on July 24th
up," said Janis Burklund of the Dallas Film Commission. The scene is for the ninth episode of the second season of the show, which is set in Louisiana.

Loving True Blood in Dallas blog helps solve the True Blood FotS church mystery for Arkansas Gazette
When the Arkansas Gazette starts asking me ' Go Ask Dallas' questions then I guess I know I've reached the big time . HA!
I can finally tell you who it was that asked last weeks " Go Ask Dallas" question. It was a question posed by a reporter from The Arkansas Gazette.
Kyle Brazzel knew right away that the structure shown as the Fellowship of the Sun Church in Episode 6 of True Blood was a building designed by famed architect and Arkansas native, Fay Jones -but which one ?
Because the Sookie Stackhouse book series author, Charlaine Harris is also an Arkansas resident, this was an important source of state pride and something they wanted to report on in for the largest newspaper in Arkansas and they wanted to get it right.
Here is where I posted my answer on the blog last week , and this is also what I sent to Kyle. He very nicely mentioned the blog in yesterday's write up in the Little Rock newspaper!
Fay Jones Chapel Vamps for True Blood
True Blood behind the scenes: Fellowship of the Sun filming

This was a "Go ask Dallas" question- I'll tell ya Sunday who asked

The chapel is one of the famous buildings designed by Arkansas native architect Fay Jones and it's gorgeous.
This was a "Go ask Dallas" question- I'll tell ya Sunday who asked
It is described on its website as:
This is The 10.6 acre chapel site has been transformed into a picturesque landscape of gardens, groves and colorful terraces with the planting of approximately 90 trees that include oak, jacaranda, sycamore and pepper.
The chapel's surrounding churchyard features a reception garden and exclusive burial property which will include the use of the upright monuments. A variety of memorialization options is available throughout the area; some sections will be reserved for exclusive family interment sites. SkyRose is the largest chapel Fay Jones and Maurice Jennings have designed to date.
The chapel is constructed of fir, Oregon redwood , bouquet canyon stone and glass and combines the beauty of Jones' unique inverse Gothic architecture with spectacular scenic views to create a site for funerals and other of life's celebrations that are remembered and shared.
Three levels make up the chapel - the mausoleum (11,200 square feet) is on the lower level, with approximately 942 crypts and 556 niches, the sanctuary (11,500 square feet) is on the ground floor with
332 fixed seats and the availability to add seats as needed and the triforium on the upper level (3,790 square feet). The roof's steep approximately 45-degree pitch and the building's height, 90 feet at its peak, made construction difficult and dangerous. Another difficult challenge was installing the chapel's skylight along the roof's ridge, which measures 24 feet wide by 105 feet long. One of the finishing touches to the chapel was the integration of a Quimby pipe organ which was custom built for SkyRose. The organ consists of 3,937 pipes ranging in height from four inches to thirty-two feet.
Fay Jones, who has had more that 200 projects to his credit designed only six chapels prior to SkyRose. His first chapel Thorncrown, was built in 1980 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and was selected in 1991 from among all the buildings built in the country since 1980 as the best by the American Institute of Architects.

** William Hopper, among many other notable folks like Richard Nixon's parents are buried there. He was Paul Drake from Perry Mason show and is son of actress and gossip columnist, Hedda Hopper.

True Blood behind the scenes: filming at the Carmilla Hotel in Dallas ( Silent Shore Hotel in books)
( click on images to enlarge) Sofitel Hotel in Los Angeles, CA just wrapped HBO’s TRUE BLOOD.One of HBO’s newest hit shows “True Blood” is starting season 2 in June , keep watch for Stone Rose Lounge this season. Also featured is the amazing lobby of Sofitel LA located in West Hollywood. Shooting took two seperate days and a total of 18 hours one day and 24 hours the following week. During shooting of True Blood, Sofitel LA was turned into “Carmilla Hotel” a Vampire Hotel located in the south. The concierge desk featured Tru Blood bottles of blood (which look more like beer bottles). This exciting shoot was a huge hit with guests of the hotel. Guests of Sofitel got to see star of True Blood Anna Paquin upclose. Before and After photos were taking during shooting, see attached photos in this blog for a sneak peak at the show. True Blood’s filming was a total success and we hope to book them again sometime in the future.
