Being Human UK's newest vampire

There’s a Mitchell-shaped hole at the centre of Being Human, and the man with the unenviable task of filling it in series four is Damien Molony. Fresh out of drama school, he admits the task of playing the series’ new vampire Hal is daunting. But as SFX chats to Molony for an interview in issue 215, one thing is patently clear – Molony is Irish. He assures us, though, that Being Human isn’t just replacing one Irish vampire with another.
“I’m actually playing an English vampire!” he reveals. “Very, very posh. Very upper class. A stiff upper-lipped Brit, which is a bit of a push for me accent, but it makes it a lot more fun. I promise you, no! No, no, no – Hal’s not Mitchell 2. There’s a lot of back story to play with and I assure you he’s very, very different.”

Johnny Depp's true 'Dark Shadows' vampire revealed! -- EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK

Behold the real visage of Johnny Depp’s vampire from Dark Shadows!
Last week, long-range paparazzi shots of the actor wearing ghostly white makeup, large sunglasses and a pulled down fedora made fans of the original 1966-71 supernatural soap opera bristle nervously, with complaints he looked simply too strange.
Nevermind that he’s playing a 200-year-old vampire, which is strange enough.
As you can see from this cast shot, Depp’s bloodsucking pater familias Barnabas Collins actually borrows heavily from the aged-little boy look of original Dark Shadows star Jonathan Frid — not that anyone would be happy to see this guy show up as your prom date either.
Still, this official First Look may reassure those die-hard fans of the original series, memorably offbeat ABC daytime drama about a vampire whose extended family are bedeviled by ghosts, witches, and other gothic woes.

Top Five TV Vampires

Following Robert Pattinson's win as Teen Choice's best vampire, Donal O'Donoghue gets his teeth into the top five small-screen vamps of all time

On Sunday night, Teen Choice awards gave the specially created Best Vampire gong (actually a surfboard but what's a creature of the night going to do with that?) to Robert Pattinson for his Twilight turn as Edward Cullen. Immediately the good folk at Entertainment Weekly were shaking pointy sticks at the decision and wondering how the hell that blonde bloodsucker, Eric Northman (as played by Alexander Skarsgard) from True Blood didn't claim the top prize. Cullen is Byronic and brooding but he looks as scary as a sonnet. Northman on the other hand .
So we decided to raise the stakes (!) here at Number TEN and pick our favourite TV bloodsuckers of all time.

1. Alexander Skargsard in True Blood
Yes, we're with EW on this. Skarsgard's vampire is one of the meanest bloodsuckers on the box - a 1,000 year old Viking (Northman!) who is also the sheriff of the undead down on the Bayou. In other words, what he says goes. Skarsgard's Northman is a complex character - a beguiling mixture of brawn and brawn and beauty - who adds bite to a series that is in danger of losing its grip. His scenes with Sookie sizzle and he's a damn sight more compelling than goody-two shoes, Bill Compton.
2. Kurt Barlow in Salem's Lot
Salem's Lot was the scariest thing on TV at the fag-end the 1970s: even scarier than Garda Patrol and its flashing blue light. The mini-series' horror pedigree was impeccable. It was adapted from a Stephen King novel, it was directed by Tobe 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' Hooper and it starred James Mason and, er, David Soul (hey you can't win 'em all). Anyway it was Reggie Nalder as the balding and befanged head vampire, Barlow, who had us all spinning in our sleep - bedevilled by images of this whey-faced monster looking into sight (Barlow's image was based on the classic vampyr, Nosferatu). 'Dark Shadows' is still in her blood

Kathryn Leigh Scott, who starred in the ABC vampire soap opera, has filmed an appearance in Tim Burton's film version starring Johnny Depp.

 Kathryn Leigh Scott describes her cameo in Tim Burton's feature version of the cult-favorite, 1966-71 ABC daytime soap-vampire romance "Dark Shadows" as the film's "ah-ha" moment.

Scott starred in four roles on the influential soap — the precursor of such popular vampire TV series as "True Blood" and the "Twilight" books and movies. She played the waitress from the wrong side of the tracks Maggie Evans, who falls in love with a tortured vampire Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid), as well as Josette du Pres, Lady Kitty Hampshire and Rachel Drummond.

Scott recently returned from London where she, Frid, Lara Parker (who played the vengeful witch Angelique) and David Selby (the ghost Quentin Collins) spent three days filming their cameos for the 2012 release.

Synopsis
In the hilarious, satirical 'Vampires', a documentary film crew introduces us to husband and wife Georges and Bertha and their children Samson and Grace, a family of vampires living in suburban Belgium. They feed on illegal immigrants and former prostitutes (referred to as "meat") and attend gatherings with other vampires in the same district. Georges is a bit creepy, Bertha a little unhinged, and Grace is trying to kill herself (which, as an immortal vampire, she can't), but otherwise they seem like a normal family. But when the partying son Samson is caught having sex with the wife of the district vampire leader, the family is exiled (under Vampire Law, handed down from Count Dracula) to Canada, where a vampire's life is a lot less protected.

Fall TV season: Are witches the new vampires?

Guys with fangs are so last year. This fall, witches are taking over.
You'll find them on HBO's "True Blood," where Sookie will face down a coven this season. They'll be casting spells on their fellow high school students in the CW's "The Secret Circle," a drama from "The Vampire Diaries" creator Kevin Williamson. A particularly wicked one shows up in ABC's "Once Upon a Time" to place a curse on the town of Storybrook. Plus, with NBC's mystery "Grimm" riffing on various fairy tales, Hansel and Gretel's friend with the black pointy hat might soon join the others.

So where did all the soft-hearted, sharp-toothed Edward Cullens go? Since women generally watch more television than men, the networks are greenlighting more female-skewing shows for fall, including ensemble dramas lead by female characters (ABC's "Pan Am," NBC's "The Playboy Club," ABC's "Good Christian Belles") to comedies anchored by actresses (Christina Applegate's "Up All Night" and Whitney Cummings' "Whitney" on NBC, Zoey Deschanel's "The New Girl" on Fox). And viewers seem to like bad girls best: CBS' "2 Broke Girls," starring an insult-slinging Kat Dennings, tested better than any comedy or drama in CBS history, and two of the season's most highly anticipated shows, "Good Christian Belles" and ABC's "Apartment 23," originally had titles that featured a word that rhymes with witch. For networks seeking female viewers and mean girl heroines, witches offer the perfect double threat.

'Vampire Diaries' Season Two: 5 Most OMG! Moments

Excuse us, we're still trying to pick ourselves off the floor after watching last night's epic season finale of "Vampire Diaries." Seriously, we didn't think anything could match the twists and turns that led to season one's cliffhanger, but somehow the writers managed to surprise us yet again—this time with ghosts, gun shots and an evil Stefan.
Perhaps we should have expected last night's mindwarp. After all, this entire season has been filled with jaw-dropping moments we never saw coming. Being Successful: SyFy Renews Vampire, Werewolf Series

I didnt think it was possible that I would liek the Being Humas US better than the UK version but I love it !! Yay! to season 2 !

The network formerly known as SciFi will renew Being Human for a second season. The original series, which is a remake of the BBC show of the same name, drew an impressive (for cable) 2.14 million viewers in its second episode.
Now, fans of the show will have the chance to watch the continuing adventures of a trio of friends -- a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost -- who must attempt to be human even though, they aren’t.
New episodes of the series are currently airing on Monday nights on the SyFy channel at 9 pm EST.

Syfy's Spectacular Being Human Is About to Get "Even More Twisted, Funny, Scary and Surprising"

Vampiroid vs. WereGhost! Blood-Monger vs. Wolf Specter! The "Real" Housemates of Boston Common. C.S.I.: Cadavers, Super Interesting. 
These are the blockbuster titles brainstormed by Being Human star Sam Huntington when we suggested the brilliant Syfy series might need a new name to rival the ratings of its network's Saturday-night schlockfests. (Mega Python vs. Gatoroid was seen by millions.)
Strangely, the best new show of 2011 is not attracting the viewers it deserves. The British cult classic remake has a wickedly smart, original script and captivating characters—a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf sharing the rent in a Boston brownstone—played by a lovable cast who get along so famously they just vacationed together in Hawaii. (We tackled Sam, who plays werewolf Josh, when we spotted him on the return flight last night.)
Last week, we also chatted with Being Human show runner Jeremy Carver (who helms the series with his wife, Anna Fricke), who promised the show is about to get even darker and funnier. Based on his writing for Supernatural (including last season's perverse zombie episode "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid"), we believe him.
