True Blood S4 Ep 4 - what is the mystery behind all the books !

As Marnie says "Let's turn to the books.That's bound to reveal something."

Of course the episode's opening scene started the week before with Sookie sitting at the kitchen table reading  'Grave Secret' by Charlaine Harris.

Then just the right book of spells jumps off the shelf for Marnie.

Alcide comes home to find Debbie busy reading her Narcotics Anonymous book and talking " Rigorous honesty"

Then the big revelation of the Compton / Bellefleur family connection with the Bellfleur bible

I just liked seeing the stack of books beside Eric's bed in the "Hidey" he installed at Sookie's house

Finally we don't see a book in the scene but we do have the line from Belinda Mickens to Tommy about his news that he is learning to read "If we had a book, I'd make you read it to me."

It's a big day for Sookie's main men as Alexander Skarsgard gives an Emmy-worthy performance

While the title of this week's episode, "I'm Alive and On Fire," literally refers to the effects the sun has on Eric's skin after he gets drunk on fairy blood and tries to stay awake during the sunlight hours, it's also a metaphor for the many relationships beginning to burn up — or simmer down — among the supernaturals.
Vampires:
Immediately after apologizing for killing Sookie's fairy godmother, Eric passes out from drinking the fairy blood, then wakes up, drunk and hungry for Sookie's blood, giggling and pinching her "beautiful butt" en route back to their house. Let's just stop right here and give Alexander Skarsgard an Emmy nomination, OK? OK. His puppy-eyed amnesia vamp is a whole other level of appeal and acting that somehow makes us giggle like a schoolgirl more than his seductive airs normally do. And, let's face it, we'd all watch a straight hour of Amnesia Eric if that's how Alan Ball decided to craft the show.

True Blood: The Humans Are Coming Out on Top

If you own a TV, it is pretty much guaranteed that you are eventually going to have a conversation about True Blood. Even people who don’t watch True Blood seem to have an opinion about it, and trying to defend or explain this season to the uninitiated can feel like showing up to court in a Halloween costume. You’re out of context, you’re defensive, and you’re yelling about vampires. It's only Episode 4, but there are Uncle-Daddies, faeries, shapeshifters, witches, were-panthers, werewolves, and V-addicts. They all have different edges on each other like in rock-paper-scissors, they’re all evolving and intermingling, but somehow humans seem to be the ones moving up the food chain.

Bill looks everywhere for Eric ???

I was intrigued with the line from last night's episode - when Bill comes to search Sookie's house looking for Eric ....

Don't you think Bill knew Eric was there ? I sure do ...

Bill says "We searched his farm in Oland, and, and his apartment in Paris,and the plantation in Barbados."

I can see the Oland farm but Paris and Barbados ? hmmm

After months of marketing about this being the season of the witches on HBO's True Blood, we wondered what more they had up their sleeves after taking Eric’s (Alexander Skarsgard) memory away. Well, now we know. They can make a vampire’s skin crawl. Poor Pam

We learned that Marnie (Fiona Shaw) drew her power from a ghostly figure of a woman last week. Now, we know that the woman was burned at the stake back in the day and the vampires had something to do with it.

True Blood Review: "I’m Alive and on Fire" (Episode 4.04)

“Aw, poor Bill, power is so hard.” Season four of True Blood is about change and rebirth. Bill, the compassionate vampire that swept Sookie off her feet in season one, is now the King of Louisiana, ruling with an iron fist. Having just sent a vampire to his True Death for feeding on a human that willingly wanted to be fed on, he sarcastically tells Nan Flanagan of the A.V.L that the execution went “smooth”, “totally justified”. We’ve seen his new transformation take place in the first three episodes of this season. Bill is more cunning, ruthless and do I dare even say villainous? The question to then ask is, is this the real Bill? Is he only acting this way because of pressure from the authority? Bill acting on his own did try to kill Eric at the end of season three. And we know that his past has been filled with both good and evil moments. As season four progresses, the characters of True Blood are having to face who they really are

How long can “True Blood’s” Sookie (Anna Paquin) resist the sweeter, albeit amnesiac Eric (Alexander Skarsgard)?
In the episode “I’m Alive and On Fire,” Sookie can’t control Eric, who is drunk on fairy blood. She can’t even stop the playful vamp from pinching her butt. She soon loses him in the woods. With Alcide (Joe Manganiello) in wolf form, she finds him, hours later, in the sunlight, enjoying a naked dip in gator-filled waters.
If you remember, fairy blood allows vamps to walk in daylight - temporarily - and Eric turns to Sookie for comfort when he realizes he will never feel the sun again. He must be having some effect on her, because Sookie does what once would have been unthinkable: She lies to Bill (Stephen Moyer) to protect him.

From Club Dead: Of course, vampires don't observe holidays, except for Halloween. It's the ancient festival of Samhain dressed up in trappings that the vamps find delightful. So Halloween's a great favorite, and it's celebrated worldwide in the vamp community.)

From Dead to Worse : “Did you get an invitation for the Fangtasia Halloween party this year?” he asked.“No. After the last party they invited me to, they might not want me to come back,” I said. “Besides, with all the recent losses, I don’t know if Eric’ll feel like celebrating.”
“You think we ought to have a Halloween party at Merlotte’s?” he asked. “Maybe not with candy and stuff like that,” I said, thinking hard. “Maybe a goodie bag for each customer, with dry roasted peanuts? Or a bowl of orange popcorn on each table? And some decorations?” Sam looked in the direction of the bar as if he could see through the walls. “That sounds good. Make a thing of it.” Ordinarily we only decorated for
Christmas, and that only after Thanksgiving, at Sam’s insistence.


...we put out the Halloween decorations. Sam had gotten a little pumpkin for each table and painted a face on each one. I was filled with admiration, because the faces were really clever, and some of them looked like bar patrons. In fact, one looked a lot like my dear brother....
“I had no idea you could do this,” I said, and he looked pleased. “It was fun,” he said, and hung a long strand of fall leaves— of course, they were actually made of cloth—around the bar mirror and among some of the bottles. I tacked up a life-size cardboard skeleton with little rivets at the joints so it could be positioned. I arranged this one so it was clearly dancing. We couldn’t have any depressing skeletons at the bar. 


This lets me talk about one of my favorite Secret Sookie Short Story "Dracula night " from the anthology "Many bloody returns " this is the story that Sookie is referencing when she says she didn't get an invitation to the Fangtasia party. You can buy it here for $2 !!!
