Meredith's Comic Con 2011 - what to watch for !
I asked Meredith last night on Talk Blood Radio what 2 things (not TB related) that she learned about at Comic Con this year that she would suggest that Talk Blood listeners watch for during the next year ?
She unequivocally said 2 things, the movies: Knights of Badassdom ( with Ryan "Jason" Kwanten) and Attack the Block.
Why Knights of Badassdom is the ultimate adventure movie from io9.com
We recently talked to Knights of Badassdom director Joe Lynch, who showed us new footage from his LARPing-meets-demons movie. He explained why this movie avoids CGI, what genre this is, and why this is the most authentic LARPing movie ever.

Why Attack the Block Really is The Wire With Aliens from io9.com
It's hard to define the brilliant British alien-chase movie Attack The Block in one line, but we've been calling it The Wire with aliens for some time now. And it turns out the film's star agrees with us.
In our exclusive interview with star John Boyega (who wonderfully captures the threatening corner kid, Moses), the actor delves into how he mined the beloved and bleak series The Wire for inspiration. Plus he shares his ideas for Attack the Block 2. Minor spoilers ahead.

Good times roll at 'True Blood' panel
The folks from Bon Temps, La., lived up to their town's name Friday, as fans had a very good time at the Comic-Con panel for HBO's True Blood.
The stars and fans staged a lovefest for the show, a wild ride of a story about vampires, werewolves, fairies and other supernatural creatures who live side-by-side with the human population. Witches have been added to the mix in Season 4.

Charlaine Harris to make special Michigan Theater appearance for new novel 'Dead Reckoning'
It's the finale — and the only Michigan appearance planned — for a publicity tour surrounding the release of her upcoming novel "Dead Reckoning." The book, on sale May 3, is the 11th installment in the ultra-popular Sookie Stackhouse vampire fiction series, which is the inspiration for the HBO phenomenon "True Blood."
Last year, Harris' novel "Dead in the Family," of the same series, sold 200,000 copies in its first week on sale and debuted in the #1 slot on both the New York Times and USA Today best-seller lists. In October 2008, she became the only author to have an entire series place on the New York Times best-seller lists simultaneously. There are currently more than 20 million copies of the ten-book series in print.
The event will be the finale of a nationwide tour for the new novel. Harris will discuss the new book and popular series, followed by a moderated audience Q&A. A book signing will follow for anyone who purchases the title through the advance ticket offer via ticketweb.com or from Nicola's Books on-site that evening.

C2E2 2011: TRUE BLOOD Cast Members Tease Season 4
With the sharp and explicit HBO series True Blood going into its fourth season, a trio of that show’s stars held court in the IGN Theater of the 2011 C2E2 in Chicago for a question and answer session. Sam Trammel who plays the coincidentally named “Sam,” Kristin Bauer “Pam”, and Brit Morgan “Debbie,” were hosted by IGN’s entertainment director Chris Carl who started the event by asking each actor about how they heard about True Blood and became part of the cast.
Sam had heard about the script when it was being tossed around Los Angeles during pilot season and fell in love with it. He met with the casting director, did a test and got the part. Kristin was also excited about the script and tried out for a different role than the one she eventually received. However, back then the time between audition and casting was so great that she went off to shoot a movie in the Philippines and completely forgot about True Blood when she got the news. Arriving back in LA almost right away she was shuttled off to have her teeth cast for vampire fangs. This caused Sam to laugh, and for Kristin to expose him of being a big fan of her costumes on the show, but perhaps only because she gets to wear clothes while Sam is frequently naked on screen. This caused a lot of laughter and hoots among the panel and the appreciative audience. Brit, who didn’t get cast until the third season, claimed that she was so nervous during her first audition she started to stutter, “but by some miracle” she said, she got a second chance and nailed it.

'True Blood' scoop: Sookie and Bill breakup will stick! Eric hangs with some telepathic fairies! And more...
The 500 or so fans who packed the Paley Center’s tribute to True Blood on Saturday in Los Angeles were treated to a fourth season sneak peek in which Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll), Hoyt (Jim Parrack) and Pam (Kristin Bauer) encounter a protest by anti-vamp religious nuts outside Fangtasia. Hoyt defends his love for his undead date with words and fists and Pam, per usual, steals the scene with a couple of wicked quips about “post-Russell Edgington society.”
But other than the clip, Blood creator Alan Ball and the drama’s 16 cast members were loathe to share spoilers with the crowd, including details on the show’s main love quadrangle between Bill (Stephen Moyer), Sookie (Anna Paquin), Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Alcide (Joe Manganiello). When pressed to divulge the overarching theme of the fourth year, Ball put on his deep serious voice and answered, “the duality of existence.” “I come up with a stock answer each season although we don’t really think in terms of themes,” Ball continued. “The theme is true blood, more true blood. We just want to have this fantastic, escapism, emotional, sexy, romantic, terrifying journey with them because that’s really fun.”

'True Blood' poster for PaleyFest: Pretty bloody cool.
Admittedly, this poster would be way cooler with a naked vampire on it, but I understand the concept of decency standards. So keeping those old things in mind, this poster promoting the True Blood‘s panel at PaleyFest is pretty awesome. Truth be told, it took me several glances to notice the vampire profile in the blood. Then, suddenly, it blew my mind and made me wonder if that’s supposed to be Eric or Bill. (See a larger version here.)
