William Sanderson is like the bell pepper in the gumbo. He may not be the crawfish or the crab or the andouille, but the mix is made all the better for his presence. The familiar face from shows like "Lonesome Dove" and "Blade Runner" -- not to mention his unforgettable role on Newhart and his trademarked line, "Hi. I'm Larry. This is my brother Daryl, and this is my other brother Daryl."
These days Sanderson is enforcing the law in the HBO hit series, True Blood. A
s Sheriff Bud Dearborne, he's a plainspoken, grounded southern gentleman -- much like Sanderson himself. The catch: in the town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, the latest minority group is starting to make itself known: vampires.
True Blood is set, by author Charlaine Harris, in the deep south, and at it's core is a tale of intolerance. There's a new minority in the world, that being the vampires, and on one level the story is about violent discrimination against them. Speaking as an Arkansas boy to a Tennessee gentleman, why do those kind of stories have to be set in the south? Haven't we grown past that?

Blood Copy : ATM Withdrawl
ATM WITHDRAWAL
Beware the wolf in sheep’s clothing. Or in this case, that helpless little thing you’re stalking. For your consideration: one young woman, one ATM withdrawal, and one really, really bad day for a robber.
Other criminals: beware. Stealing isn’t nice, and in the wrong circumstances being impolite could just cost you your life.
A NEW DAY
First off: shout out to all the fans who’ve been with us from the beginning. Seems some of you have been around for quite some time…
Lots of you have been asking about my new life as a vampire. Understandable, I would’ve asked the same when I was still among the breathing. But honestly, folks, this isn’t about me. It’s about us. This strange new ball of rock just getting used to the idea that humans and vampires are sharing real estate.
Course, we vampires have known this all along, so really the odds are a bit stacked, but don’t worry, we’ll wait for you to catch up. In the meanwhile, some of you have jumped at the opportunity to profit from us, while others have unfortunately learned your old ways just don’t jive with the new order. There’ll be more bumps in the road, to be sure, but hey, isn’t that part of the fun?
Perhaps I’m just feeling optimistic today. I’ve recently received an exciting bit of news, further proof of the progress vampires have made in becoming an accepted part of the mainstream.
But more on that later.

Carrie Preston Talks 'True Blood'
Playing the character Arlene Fowler was a crazy experience for Carrie Preston
"It's so interesting because they are really departing from the books right now," Preston revealed. "I mean they're sort of keeping the main kind of theme of the second book, but they've already just taken a lot of liberties. They spent the first season really establishing the characters and now they've added all these new characters, and it's getting really wild in there."
Now that the second season is nearing, it was pointed out by her co-star, Alexander Skarsgard
About her character, Arlene, Preston says she is nothing like the person she plays. However, she admits that it was easy to transform herself for her. "I mean I'm not anything like Arlene. Nothing. It all has to be created, which is really fun. I go in the makeup trailer and an hour and a half later, I'm a completely different person."
"She's street smart. You know what I mean?" Preston continued. "Like she's a single mother and she's a survivor. She speaks her mind, and I don't know... I grew up with women like that so I just wanted to honor those women. Also it's a comedic role and I really always feel in my element when I'm doing comedy."
As for the appeal of True Blood, the actress confessed that she'd watch the show even if she wasn't working on the set. "I've always sort of been into sci-fi kind of stuff, so I like it. It's a show I would have watched even if I wasn't on it."

Dead and Gone Review from our friend the SciFi Guy !

Yeah, Doug ( the ScifiGuy)
You all met him recently on my radio show, what a smart, interesting thoughtful guy!
Dead and Gone is the ninth Sookie Stackhouse mystery and by far the darkest story yet. As the series has matured Sookie has become more immersed in the supe world and in fact gravitated to the centre of it in her community of Bon Temps, Louisiana. On her journey, Sookie has grown from a young woman with limited life experience and innocence tempered by her telepathic awareness of human nature, to a resistant member of the harsher supernatural community, a victim of emotional and physical violence, but also transformed and strengthened by it. But not without a personal cost as reflected in this dialogue between Jason and Sookie midway through the book over his betrayal of Sookie and Calvin about Crystal’s infidelity –
