Sam Trammell's built up an impressive fan base playing Sam Merlotte in the sexy HBO vampire series, 'True Blood.' And at the BAFTA/LA Awards Season Tea Party, Trammell talked about what's in store for his character in Season 3 of 'True Blood.'

'True Blood' Shocker: An 'Erotic Connection' Will Transpire Between Sam And Bill
Kwanten) and Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis) all getting new love interests this season, it's not unreasonable to wonder where the romantic action is heading for less-discussed characters like vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and shape-shifter Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell).
As it turns out, however, there is romance in the future for both characters ... possibly with each other. "True Blood" creator Alan Ball spoke with Entertainment Weekly to reveal that an "erotic connection" is in the works for Sam and Bill, two of Sookie's most prominent suitors.
According to Alan, the reasons for the newfound chemistry stem from Bill's season two decision to heal Sam with a healthy dose of his own vampire blood. As a result, a connection between the two characters arises, one that is "not just any connection, but an erotic connection."
The specifics of the new relationship between the characters and how far it will actually go remains unknown at this time, but Alan's words are certainly provocative nonetheless.
Alan was more forthcoming when talking about the other major same-sex couple in "True Blood" season three — namely the aforementioned Lafayette and his new boyfriend Jesus (Kevin Alejandro).
"[Lafayette] is very guarded and Jesus is a guy [is] willing to knock down some of those guards," said Ball. "[Though] it's not an easy relationship, they have a lot in common. They're both shamans of sorts, healers, so there's a reason they get brought together."

It also sounds like they'll be plenty of sex in the season premiere, with Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) ended up in a backwoods Arkansas motel room with a familiar face. "It should be curious and confusing to viewers," teases Trammell. But Ryan Kwanten says his character, Jason Stackhouse, ups Sam by one. "My character wakes up in the first episode with two women beside him," Ryan boasts. The actor's also looking forward to seeing Jason enjoy a more meaningful romance. "He will find love in the werewolf world, and love is a pretty unknown concept for him."
Alfre Woodard joins the series as Ruby Jean Reynolds, mother to Lafayette and aunt to Tara. Alfre describes her character as "nuts. She's not going to be a person that the audience loves. She's not very accepting of Lafayette, which is fun to play."

Vampire craze HBO "True Blood" actor has family ties to St. Augustine
Vampires are in right now. Very in. Film, television and literature are all taking a turn for the undead (think the uber-popular "Twilight" series).
Paul Trammell, a local musician, artist and Lincolnville resident, knows a thing or two about mythological creatures -- his younger brother, Sam, plays shapeshifter Sam Merlotte on HBO's hit vampire series "True Blood," produced by Alan Ball ("American Beauty," "Six Feet Under") and based on a popular book series called "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" written by Charlaine Harris.
In the Golden Globe- and Emmy-winning show, Sam's character is the mysterious owner and bartender of Merlotte's. His character is two-fold. Half the time he shapeshifts into a dog while the other half he is busy seeking the affection of Sookie Stackhouse (played by Anna Paquin).

Must Love Hellhounds (anthology) by Charlaine Harris, Nalini Singh, Ilona Andrews and Meljean Brook
This book was an instant buy for me since it contains novellas by three authors I read regularly: Charlaine Harris, Nalini Singh and Ilona Andrews. Overall, great stories. I really enjoyed them and it was nice to be exposed to an author I’d never tried before. More on each specific story below.
The first story in the collection is The Britlingens Go to Hell by Charlaine Harris. It involves secondary characters from (I think) the seventh book in the series Altogether Dead. It’s a great little story and Charlaine Harris explores part of the Southern Vampire series mythology that’s really only touched on in the series, so the novella’s full of wonderful little details and surprises. Clovache and Batanya make excellent protagonists and it was really fun to learn more about Britlingens.

True Blood nominated for ACE award
One more feather has been added to the hat of True Blood in the form of a nomination to the Ace Eddie Awards. TrueBlood fans would be happy to learn that their favorite TV series’ Editor Louise Innes has been nominated for the Best Edited One-Hour Series for Non-Commercial Television. Louise was the editor of the Episode 6, Hard – Hearted Hannah and has been critically acclaimed for her work in the series. The ACE awards would be presented on the 14th of February at the Beverly Hilton. We hope the Valentine’s Day date proves to be lucky for the True Blood Team – Best of Luck!

Author Charlaine Harris will visit Columbia County Georgia for a special event. She'll be at the Columbia County Library on January 23 2009 at 7:00 p.m.

Columbia County Library is pleased to present Charlaine Harris for our Winter Chills program on January 23rd at the Jabez S. Hardin Performing Arts Theater. Doors will open at 6:30pm and the program will begin promptly at 7:00pm. Admittance is free of charge.
Ms. Harris is the author of the Aurora Teagarden series of mysteries and the Sookie Stackhouse series which inspired the hit HBO series, TrueBlood.
To prepare for the main event, the Columbia County Libraries hosted book discussions for the 2010 Columbia County Reads Together books, Dead and Gone, a Sookie Stackhouse novel, and the Aurora Teagarden mystery, Poppy Dead and Gone.
Due to the overwhelming demand for the Charlaine Harris event, the library will be distributing 450 tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis at 6:00pm on the 23rd. NO TICKETS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED PRIOR TO 6:00pm. Patrons wishing to attend MUST have a ticket to be allowed admittance. USA Today: “17% of all book sales tracked in 2009 were related to vampires”

There’s a new article online looking at popular books in 2009, and it reveals some interesting statistics related to the Twilight saga:
We have Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight vampires to thank, in part, for the fact that at least 17% of all book sales tracked in 2009 were related to vampires (and assorted other undead creatures, including zombies) or the paranormal (including paranormal romances). That was up from 14% in 2008, which in turn was way up from 2% in 2007.
Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, which are the inspiration for HBO’s True Blood, had nine titles in the top 100 sellers of the year, and P.C. and Kristin Cast, the mother/daughter team who write the House of Night series, had six. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith is No. 48 on the list. Expect that trend to continue in 2010, again thanks in part to Meyer. She may not have a new book coming out (that we know of so far), but Eclipse, the movie based on the third book in the Twilight series, swoops into theaters in June, and the paperback reissue of her 2008 adult hardcover The Host is out April 13.
Interestingly, all four Twilight saga books sit at the top of USA Today’s Best-Selling Books of 2009 list.
